Oh Wow i remember watching this in the 80's 👍
0:33 A young and handsome Brian Conley. Brilliant comedian.
Oh my gosh... I remember this 😊
Oh what great memories this stirs. I always thought the theme music to be slightly unnerving!
With the original bass player Charlie Barrett...
A huge thank you for uploading these great episodes, it is so memorable.
....How to blow up your grannies coal bunker - only jesting....
Jack Hargreaves aka Bob Fleming from the fast show
I loved this programme. They even showed how to make a small bomb with a tin can, piece of string and flour.
Loved this show.. watched it here in Dublin… When tv was quality 🧐🇮🇪
Around this time I could have been on this. I was at the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Sandbanks (Near Poole) like some weekends or over the holidays in the summer. I was interviewed by Gaby Roslin, I knew who she was as I had seen her on Motormouth. She was very kind, put I was put off her when I saw her smoking. I was going to be on Motormouth about my Dad's Powerboat Racing. I said I didn't want to be on TV so it was cancelled.
I loved this program!!
The theme tune would probably be considered racist now !
Jack Hargreaves without his pipe? Shock horror!! I remember the 90s reboot with the mighty Fred Dineage, Gail Porter and Gaz Top iirc.. cool for a new generation but nothing beat the original.
Still fascinating, fresh and relevant. I used to avidly watch HOW after school, it was an ITV childrens television classic, within its golden age. Imagine such a programme for children in 2024.....no, me neither.
When tv was fun
Finally I can see that that opening is a harmonic on the 12th fret. On the album version, clearly the slap or hard pick (hard to tell) on the same harmonic on an Aria bass (same that John Taylor used on Rio in that time) is what gives that opening it's distinct and full sound. Chorus and reverb are also probably helping along with compression. Cy, Bono and Hutchins are the best singers of that time period. Cy's "yodel" in many performances puts him above the other 2. He's unreal. This is before he gets really good. No idea how he went from the pre-Fixx voice to the intensity he has in the Fixx. You would not recognize him in that band.
Was Houseparty on only once a week?
Loved that. Took me straight back to my childhood. They don’t make em like they used to! I also loved Jack Hargreaves’ own programme: Old Country.
No 'gophers' in the closet in our day! I remember this one!
Absolutely loving revisiting these shows again, as someone who never missed an episode of No 73 and Motormouth as a kid, it’s brought back some great memories. Thanks so much for the uploads!
Nick Staverson’s a lovely fella. Had a lovely little chat with him through a comments section a few years ago.
Jack was instrumental in the creation of channel 4.
And Southern TV itself!
Ah, 'How', the Vsauce of the 70's :-) Good times.
Now children just filled full of left wing nonsense.
It was a bit of a misty day for the shoot on the lifeboat! Thankfully I wasn't seasick!
They'd be cancelled now for insulting native Americans
What a fantastic programme, I remember it with great fondness.
Can anyone provide information, which episode was it where he made skyscrapers out of video tape boxes?
I used to love watching How. The presenters were great but Jack Hargreaves was in a league of his own. His knowledge of the countryside was immense
"How" is not racist. "How" does not appropriate and misrepresent minority group culture. Jack Hargreaves does not abuse wildlife. Women are not underrepresented on the show. Fred Dinenage never hosted shows that objectified and sexualised young women. And the other bloke was not boring, because he appeared on telly. Times have changed, haven't they? At least none of them were later exposed by Yew Tree. I loved How as a child.
Are you ok? Have a lie down 🤦
@@stepheng8779 Are you unaware of these things? Have you not heard these accusations laid at the show? Is this all news to you? Come on, you must at least be aware of the show's past. Seriously... The only thing that the show has not been found guilty of is child SA.
Sadly, this was the last ever episode to be made. The entire cast passed away shortly after filming due to an extreme case of salmonella, from consuming raw eggs.
Awesome, and what memories. It was Fred Dineage, Bunty James and Jack Hargreaves for me. Proper fun and education all in one.
Look at those FLARES 16:14 🤣
I learnt more from this show than I ever did at school , what great memories
Remember watching this when I was about 12......what totally amazed me is fred dianege looks hardly any different 40 years later. He does a very good murder / criminal show on a sky channel and honestly he doesn't look much different from his days on how.
Fred Dineage IS television. I remember he used to fill in for Dickie Davies in World Of Sport.
Wow Fred really didn't like that 'dunce's hat' gibe did he! He actually hit her - tells me a lot!
Nowadays the program would be attacked for cultural appropriation.
He looks like a real perv in that raincoat 😅😅😅
este video me tiene conmocionados....son unos capos los fixxs tocando en vivo sin play back semejante canción tan pero tan oscura, en un programa infantil, monsters
It was filmed in Southampton I remember going past the big banana 🍌
Fantastic to see this programme again.
Fab😂😊
Mr B Oddie? That's Bill Oddie, did he leave a message? No he never does. What's so.rude about a body?
Bangin' mullets
I still have the How! Book….
Omg the theme music must have been the earliest ever techno
Was this londons tiswas?
Loved that show as a kid
Oh... that theme music.... really takes me back!
