It's wor Oz! Jimmy Nail rocks up to ply his original craft as a singer. Here he performs his cover of Rose Royce's "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", which would enter the charts a week later at Martin and Hazel Edwards' address - No.75. It would peak at No.3 by the end of May. He closes the show with "Get Up Close", which I believe was never commercially released.
All my life I've had a memory of a young Sandi Toksvig somehow mixed with roller skates..... and now I know why!!! Can't recall the show at all, but I clearly watched it!
It's like going back in time I can feel the vibe🤗
According to Sandi, a significant proportion of Number 73 was done with improvised dialogue. My guess is they knew the general outline and worked from there.
Very witty at times, like a live sitcom or comic strip. I liked the cutaways while the bands were playing in the cellar, put me in mind of Crossroads lol. I don’t think the simultaneous backstage 73 style antics worked as well on Motormouth though.
@@zanducktv2398you have to wonder how long 73 would have run for if they’d gone with original plan of building a Coronation Street style outdoor set for the show. I mean just to commit that kind of money to the show must’ve made it the jewel in the crown of CITV at the time.
@@pipoo1 wow, was that the plan, didn’t know that.
@@zanducktv2398 yeah, the main issue they had with Number 73 was production space, the series had a permanent set at Maidstone, which took up a lot of production space needed for other shows TVS we’re making. So they originally conceived to build a new set outdoors at the Maidstone lot, but somewhere/somehow they ended up with the 7T3 theme park, which just didn’t gel with the show for some reason. A year after it ended ITV started Ghost Train in the same slot as the summer replacement for Motormouth, and that was also a narrative based Saturday show but it was entirely made on location not in a studio and it was very popular. Which makes me think the issue with 7T3 was the change in setting rather than the format itself.
Toyah looked utterly amazing here. Not sure why I never noticed her so much back then.
Iths a mysthry.
The Super Sleuth competition ran over two series on No 73, and then after that moved to Splash for some reason I never understood. Does anyone know more about the entertaining duo Beaumont & Nikki? Can't seem to find anything online, except that they also appeared on Get Fresh during it's first series (as Beau & Nikki).
Waiting to see if the episode my late father appeared in is added to the channel. Think it was an earlier series, Amazulu were the musical guests and they played in the living room.
Give me as much detail as you can and I will do my best! 😊
58:56 I wonder if they ever referenced the sandwich quiz on QI
I have the Toyah clip on a very old grainy VHS! Do you have the episode with Marc Almond performing? My brother in law was in the quiz but it's never come up on here, would be great if you had it..
Not the one just after the infamous stomach pump incident ?
No cartoons or Cat Deeley?
There seems to have been a cartoon here but it was cut out.
Probably copyright reasons.
