But religion is a spectrum of beliefs and there are some that look more towards authoritarian figures; Mormons being one of them. So it’s not surprising at all. (That’s not to say that there are large groups of Mormons that are NOT supportive of Trump and know some of them).

I remember listening to Obama and then reading the transcript. His long pauses seemed to make him seem indecisive, then you read the transcript and it would seem like he had delivered a speech worthy of Shakespeare.
The long pauses were to allow for you to take in what he said, and digest it. Give you time to understand what he has spoken. That is how all great speakers do it if you listen to them.

@@grogery1570 That's OK. I have been trained in Public Speaking, and pauses are great to convey a meaning or idea. A lot of people will even repeat the sentence just to make sure it gets across. But Trump is not even a good speaker, he is very poor and has a very poor grasp of the spoken English word.

If someone pauses, but speaks as clearly & convincingly as Obama, I take it as a pause for thought. If Trump paused more often, maybe he wouldn’t talk in circles.

About 40% of republicans really believe that Biden has stolen the election and another 20% thinks, there was some shady business even tho there is no evidence of that. People worldwide believe Trump, I can't even count how many times I've heard stuff like: "Oh, USA criticized the Belarusian election, look how much fraud is in theirs." And it doesn't even matter, that Trump said the very same thing about every election he ever run in...

Given that most young people in the US didn't vote for Trump it signals our educational system is improving. His election is less an indictment of the educational system of today and more an aftereffect of the educational system older folks grew up with.
@malcolm jacobite The more kids get put into religious schools and 'home schooled', the worse it will get. There is no 'indoctrination', ffs. This is another LIE. Some kids do fine with home schooling and religious schools, some are getting very little schooling, and some get 'alternative facts'. The major problem here though is right wing media (Fox, OANN, right-wing radio, and nutty social media). These are filled with false information, all while repeatedly saying real news sites are fake. And people believe the BS.

It's one of those many cases where it's actually less costly and better. Sometimes you'll see a building. It costs less money than another building that costs more, because the one that built the one that costs more, this one looks better, the one that's cheaper, it looks better. They say "how much more did you spend for that building?" "Actually, we spent less." You can do that, it's called you have to know what you're doing if you know what you're doing. That's only good for the real estate people in here, of which there are plenty by the way.

His speeches always sounded like they came from the "Big Bumper Book of Business Buzzwords", just a lot of random words thrown around. The way the transcript sounds, it is fairly clear he was someone who assumed that time spent on screen not speaking was wasted, but it's fairly clear that the reason people pause is so they can process what they are saying, his lack of pausing just means his words just tumble over one another, and it feels like rambling rather than statements. That was kind of the problem in its most diluted form.
He wasn't a person who took time to think, because in his head a pause meant you lost your train of thought and let someone else speak up. That was pretty much his entire presidency in a nut shell, throw out everything you can any time you can, don't let anyone else get a word in. There were so many times and debates where he would claim he never got the chance to talk, and yet he would be speaking more than half of the time, and that again shows that it's not enough for him to be heard, he believes only HE should be heard, and that is the mentality of his more aggressive base; be the ONLY voice, because if anyone else speaks, they're stealing from you.
He was a cretin.
