  • In this video I went exploring a creek in a historic part of town that I had not walked before! I had a hunch there would be some awesome antique bottles, and sure enough there were some really cool ones here! I ended up finding the old dump site from the late 1800's - early 1900's. There were TONS of busted old bottles, and I found a few very nice complete ones as well. I hope to return soon and find some more complete bottles!

Those green paneled bottles were made by Whitehall-/Tatum company. They would have had paper labels on the side, usually a cork was used to seal the bottle. 1880's to 1920's. That frosted bottle with the flared top is a milk bottle. A tin or aluminum top or a cardboard type stopper with a little cardboard pull tab.

Hey, Kyle, you're in my territory now! Your frosted bottle held either milk or cream. Some have the dairy's name embossed on them and are the more desirable. Your small aqua bottle is a shoe polish bottle, believe it or not! Congrats on finding some awesome old glass. The straight-side coke is wonderful, even with the crack. And the Lea and Perrins bottle is an oldie! Next time you go creekwalking, keep an eye out for the little glass stoppers for this type of bottle. You had an awesome day!!! I enjoyed it very much, and I'm glad you're feeling better!

@@WILDKYLE Kyle, they're hard to date precisely, but from the looks of the one you found, I'd say around 1900 to 1910-ish. It's a beautiful little bottle and a great color. See all those bubbles???

My girl and I,have found a MASSIVE bottle dump by a river close to our house. We are addicted to digging for them. We have found old coke,pepsi,7up, Vernors bottles, old medicine looking bottles, bottle's we have no idea what they are also. Tons of ceramic bottles.big jugs... We have no idea what they are worth or anything about them. I stumbled on You're video looking up some of the bottles. We would love to know more about all of this hobby, and how old they are. This spot is crazy. There isn't any newer glass there.

Kyle! You need to get you a little bottle-cutter thing! You can slice off the broken tops of the bottles & make those very old embossed bottles into pen/brush holders or flower vases or pour a candle in 'em OR SOMETHING!. Not too hard to do--and will make very nice gift items to sell or gift away.

You should so collect the broken bottles. If the bottoms are not broken they can be cut and made into glasses , utensils holders, candles etc. If they are broken you can save the pieces that have words and make into mosaic art. Especially with the older ones. Saving a little bit of history each time.

If the seam goes only to the stock it is before 1860, if the seam goes only halfway up the stock it is between 1860 and 1880, if the seam goes only to the lip it is between 1880 and 1890, and if the seam goes all the way to the top it is from 1900 to now. I Love bottle hunting vids, you need to make more! I'm new to bottle collecting too but I have picked up on a few things so far. The top of a bottle is called a 'lip' and if the seam stops at the lip its called an 'applied lip' or 'applied top' which generally means the bottle is older (Victorian or early 1900's). Back in the day white clear glass was more expensive to make which is why most bottles your finding are blueish/greenish. Your Wostershire Sause bottle was made over here in England! It is pronounced wust-u-sher and 'Lea' is pronounced Lee. We still use the stuff today 😊 Someone already said about the stoneware ginger beer bottle, but if you find a whole one with print on it they can be worth a small fortune!

Very keen to see more of the bottle hunting in these creeks. Do you use a poozle stick to find buried bottles? It a long metal rod with a handle. The pointy end is rounded, so the bottles don't break. When you push the rod into the soil, it makes a tink, tink sound when you find a bottle. I'd love to buy one of those old Florida coke bottles ,they are really cool😊 We have lots of cool old bottles here in New Zealand.

    worchestershire is pronounced "woo-ster-shire"
also, fun fact: aqua coloured glass is often dated to the later half of the 1800s and phased out by ww1 in favour of good old clear glass

I love hunting for old bottles. I recently found my first ever green coloured Coke bottle and I was super excited even though it's fairly modern. I also have a soft spot for the Listerine bottle I found in my backyard when the hole for the pool was being dug as it's what got me into the hobby.
As for the broken bottles in that creek, I'd say many of them were broken when all the concrete was dumped.

That ceramic bottle is called a ginger beer bottle they made them out of stoneware to not let sun shine on the beer or over time the beer would spoil

First of all very nice coca-cola bottle thas awesome! The small aqua colored bottle is a shoe polish . The frosted one could be a creamer I have one similar. The Worcestershire sauce bottle have a glass and cork stopper, you should be able to find one. I have one like it on my shelf! A tip from me take something that you can scratch around with. Happy hunting!

Thank you so much Leon! I would love to find one of those cork stopper tops. Would you say that the shoe polish is early 1900's?
