OMG this is just what I needed to see. My son is 19m and I am about to nightwean. We cosleep and he nurses ALL night long, wakes up hourly or just wants to be latched. This gives me hope lol, it's so hard to find information / experiences from other moms who have babies like mine. Thank you for posting

Hi friends! I wanted to give a little update :) She's been night weaned for almost 2 weeks now and has started consistently sleeping from 7:30pm-12:30am at which point she wakes, and I bring her in with me. I still don't feed her until after 6am the next day which means she's without milk from 7:30pm-6am or later the next day... amazing! Soon we will work on pushing the 6am feed later but for now, it's working great!
This is the most loving night weaning video I have seen. After watching other videos, it never sat right with me. It felt like some other people would be getting between me and my baby girl. Thank you for sharing your experience 🌸
This is definitely the best night weaning video on UA-cam!! Every other video I saw mentioned CIO (despite bed sharing) and that doesn’t vibe with me. Cuddles & rocking sounds like it’ll work best. Thank you so much for sharing! 🤍🤍
This is so encouraging to me! My son is 15 months and nurses constantly through the night still.. I just found out that I am pregnant with our second and knew that it was time to start the process of night-weaning... I don't know that I could handle a toddler nursing on me every hour and a newborn at the same time. We also bedshare, so I was just so nervous about how I should go about it. Thank you for sharing your experience! It gives me hope!
Hi in the chance you see this a year later…I am in this boat currently pregnant & 13mo old nurses through night. I’m going to try this method. I’m curious how it worked out for you & how did you cut the day feeds if there were any? What’s life like now 😅
Thanks for sharing. My daughter is 21months old, cosleeps and feeds every few hours (some nights more frequently). This gives me hope that night weaning is possible. Thank you for the glimmer of hope in the sleep deprived exhaustion.
I’m on night two using this method. My 13 month old started waking up every two hours demanding to nurse. Tonight, night two, tantrums lasted 15 mins, but took about 1.5 hours of wearing him in the carrier to help him fall back asleep. Surprisingly, he took a bunch of sips of water leading me to believe that he wakes up thirsty more than hungry. I’m looking forward to finally having a stretch of uninterrupted sleep!
This came at the perfect time ! My girl is 18 months old . And we co sleep and breastfeed all through the night . I’m ready to night wean . Thank you so much !
Thank you for this! Were starting night weaning next week. My son is almost 13 months and mama is ready…nervous for the first few nights of tantrums but he will get it. I know it. ❤️
Thank you so much, I feel so seen hearing about your daughters sleep ❤ my son is 18 months aswell and wakes up exactly as much as your daughter did before you weaned her. I'm starting night weaning tonight after thinking about it for months!
Very very helpful! Third child. Third none sleeper. My other two kids I day weaned first. When they hit two. Then battled the cosleep boobing all night. They didn't start sleeping til they were full time school! My third baby is 14m and I wanted to feed him til around 2 or 2.5 but I am going away for two nights in 6 months time and I feel I need it cracked before then, else he won't cope without me. Shame as well as I do enjoy the cosleeping boobing. Parenthood hey x x
I've already day weaned my 18 month old baby boy but I'm attempting to night wean and we've had a couple of very sleepless emotional nights. His dad also has to get up at 5am to go to work so I don't have his help. I did cave in and nursed at 4:45 am both nights. I still feel like it's progress because it wasn't 3 to 5 nursings a night like we were doing. I also justified the one feeding because I don't want to be too full and get mastitis again. I got mastitis when I weaned from day time feedings. So I've decided that after a few nights of the one 5 am feeding I would nurse once every other night for a few more nights before I quit completely. I realize that this will be a longer process but I feel like quitting cold turkey will be more difficult for both of us.
Thank you for this video.. my girl is 17 months old now and my situation is very similar to yours! I’ve actually tried this method around one month ago.. it was good at first (I mean yes, the struggle is real) but I’m not being consistent enough because after a week or so, I gave in and feed her again two to three times midnight, and that eventually lead back to old habits (which is every one to two hour feed all night, yeah, especially 4 to 7am). The reason i gave in initially was because some days, she just wouldn’t properly finish her meal, and I’m worried that she’ll be hungry in the middle of the night. I guess I’m wrong now, because you mentioned that your baby is eat so much more now throughout the day, it was such a relief to hear that, because I also always thought that maybe my daughter is not really into eating much food yet or maybe she’s nursing all night long so she isn’t eat much during the day. Now everything seems to come into senses. Thank you very much. I finally hear this from a real mom facing a very similar scenario in a very similar sleeping conditions. Even pediatrician can’t help me with her advice. Really glad to have found your video because it gives me courage to try again with the same method and real consistency
I’m so glad my video helped you mama! 💗 Toddlers are smart and they pick things up quickly. My daughter started eating more almost immediately, now she loves food and is always excited to eat. Before she couldn’t care less! It’s hard to be sleep deprived for soooo long. Listen to your instincts, it’s better for everyone to get more sleep! And the great thing about this method is you can still enjoy those snuggles if you want 🙌🏻
Thank you so much for this video. I am ready to night wean baby number three. The first two did it on their own, but this baby is just determined to stay attached to me at night. My husband took her on a six day trip to his parents for a funeral. We thought she would be weaned when she returned, however, she was even more attached when they got back!
This was helpful thank you I tried to do this when my son was 19 months old I did not succeed but. Thank you for this! I'm pregnant with my third, and need to night wean my son who is 27 months. He is sooooo attached to the boob. Hoping so much that this method works for us too.
I did the same thing... 3 hrs of crying and gave in. She would fall asleep and continue to wake back up withing minutes throughout the 3hr span. I'm trying again tonight!
I think I covered most everything in this video but if you still have questions let me know :) I hope this video helps some tired mamas get more sleep 💗
I decided to night wean around 9 months because he wasn’t accepting solids and was waking up more often in the night. I cuddled him and he would fall asleep. Soon he learned to sleep through the night and eat more during the day.
I think we are in a very similar situation. My toddler is 19 months old and I’ve tried the Dr Jay Gordon method the last 2 nights (even though I’ve been considering it since he was 10-11 months). I felt like this is a good moment for 3 important reasons: his teeth are already erupted, he managed to go back to sleep easier without crying very very long and because I think it’s time for me too to sleep 6-7 hours straight. I hope we see some results.
Good luck to you mama! 💗 It’s definitely not the easiest thing but it’s worth it. Everyone gets better sleep and can still enjoy cuddles if they like 🙌🏻

Oh my goodness 😂😢. Finally other moms who are having the same struggles with baby crying at night 😢. I did my first night with her last night out of frustration. She cried for about an hour and a half on and off. Fell asleep once in there. Then fell asleep for about 10-15 minutes. I also had been trying to get her to sleep in her bed before starting all this. With night weaning I quit with that at 1am and took her to sleep with me. Then she fell asleep and slept until 4:30 and cried for 5 minutes then fell asleep back asleep on top of me and slept until 6:30.
Then I nursed her ❤ and she slept for just a little bit and we were up by 6:50. She was very happy. She did not drink any water at night because she was mad me 😕. Anyways aside from the horrible crying episode it was ok…

Hello! My daughter is turning 17 months old soon. I want to night wean for sure and after I want to wean completely. How old was your baby? And your video is super helpful gives me hope that we will make it 😂 I’m just dreading the start because i know it will be rough ❤
My mother in law told me a tip. That really works. "put your hair on the boobs" and babies really think it's something very scary. They will get scared of it.
Did your daughter have any confusion over the earlier night feedings while also using that particular book? It seems great, but my little one is the same age and I’m afraid that telling her nursing is only for day time and then breastfeeding her to sleep would be counterproductive.
She didn’t seem to! I only fed her before 11pm for a few nights and then I cut that all together because I was worried about confusing her. Using the book definitely helped her understand that when it’s dark out and everyone is asleep we don’t have milk. I do remember that if I did go in to feed her before 11pm I would tell her “this is the last milk until morning ok?” So maybe that helped!
It’s so hard to be there while they are crying. And it’s so hard to stop and not cave in and just breastfeed! The paediatrician said to continue even if they cry or else if you stop and try again over and over it confuses them. Sighhhh
I have no problems with my 13 month old sleeping by herself. I put her to bed at night and she goes to sleep all by herself. My 4 year old is a whole different story. He still sleeps with me. He slept in the same room with us when he was a baby, but when he was 6 months old we would rock him to sleep at night and then he slept in his crib in his room. Sometimes he would wake up and I would rock him back to sleep, but it wasn't until I was pregnant with my daughter that he would wake up screaming and and would take forever to get back to sleep. Once my daughter was born my son would not sleep in his own bed. Then again I stopped breastfeeding my son at 9 months and daughter at 10.
Very very helpful -thank you! I definitely feel guilty, but I know it’s time e need to night wean. My son is almost 2 now and the night nursing is driving me insane. :) He has gone a few nights without nursing, when his dad goes into him, but when he wants it he wants it. Lovely tips. Will definitely try! I’ve been meaning to get that book -will get it now. Wish me luck! Thank you again.
Thankyou, this was really good to watch. My daughter is 2 and also very attached to boobies..doesn't eat much and wakes up all through the night to feed and feeds in the day too. I'm stuck in the cycle of being exhausted and taking the sleep I can get but I know on the other side of this my mental health which has suffered a lot due to sleep deprivation will be better. I am a single mum with fibromyalgia and I don't know how to get through night weaning in a way that is positive for my daughter and manage through the day to meet her needs. I've not had a break of a full nights sleep in years. How do I do this on my own?
Why did you choose not to follow the first step (first three days) of Gordon's metod meaning feeding baby milk when he wakes up after 23 but putting him still awake? You seemed to skip the first step. Why?
I'm so glad that I didn't breastfeed my girls. Weaning of off the bottle was very easy. Another reason that I didn't breastfeed them was I wanted my husband to take turns in feeding them at night. Breastfeeding leaves it all up to mom and I wasn't willing to do that.
@@DarthAriel22 I hid the bottles where she would never find them. My daughter was about two at the time. I picked her up and, together, we looked in every cupboard where she knew they were kept. When we ran out of places to look she said "I guess bubbas went bye bye and that was it. You can hide the bottles but you can hide your breasts.
But formula is nowhere near as beneficial as breastmilk. It’s about the babies not us. Men are not supposed to breastfeed its the mother that has the breastmilk. I wouldn’t let my baby miss out on crucial breastfeeding just so my husband can take turn tbh.
You do as you please but as a FTM/nurse these are some benefits of breastfeeding. 1) stronger bond between mum&baby 2) reduced risk of infection & chronic diseases 3) easier to digest than formula 4) studies show breastfed babies have better IQ 5) Breastfeeding reduces chance of allergies 6) breastfeeding reduces risk of postpartum depression & easier recovery 7) breastfed babies adapt to different tastes & adapt to solid food with ease 8) Breastmilk contains enzymes, good bacteria & immunity not found anywhere else

My mother in law told me a tip. That really works. "put your hair on the boobs" and babies really think it's something very scary. They will get scared of it.
Thank you!!
Yea I don’t have anyone to help me and we co-sleep as well. My daughter is 2 now and I am ready to stop
Thanks for the advice girly I wanna stop bc i wanna sleep lol but I don't wanna go through it 🙃 lol the struggle is real
I so feel that! I’m really glad we did it, I feel less stressed about night time 😆
@@mikeandaszj6475 yah I bet I guess ima still be attached and some sleep for who knows how long haha
It’s crazy how different they all are hey! I sure hope if we have another babe that he/she will like sleep more than this one 🤭
Very very helpful -thank you!
I definitely feel guilty, but I know it’s time e need to night wean. My son is almost 2 now and the night nursing is driving me insane. :)
He has gone a few nights without nursing, when his dad goes into him, but when he wants it he wants it.
Hope ur OK. Not easy at all. We're in the same boat
Why did you choose not to follow the first step (first three days) of Gordon's metod meaning feeding baby milk when he wakes up after 23 but putting him still awake? You seemed to skip the first step. Why?
I was thinking the same thing. I followed all the steps (but for a little longer time) and it worked out just fine
If I could give you a thousand thumbs up I would I really really appreciate it!!
It's good
My life
Heres how i did it, i said no at 9 months old. When they’re hungry enough they WILL take a bottle!
I'm so glad that I didn't breastfeed my girls. Weaning of off the bottle was very easy. Another reason that I didn't breastfeed them was I wanted my husband to take turns in feeding them at night. Breastfeeding leaves it all up to mom and I wasn't willing to do that.
How did you bottle wean?
@@beautifullthings Formula is just as good. Bottle fed children are much easier to wean, too. That's my opinion. It worked for us.
You do as you please but as a FTM/nurse these are some benefits of breastfeeding.
1) stronger bond between mum&baby
2) reduced risk of infection & chronic diseases
3) easier to digest than formula
4) studies show breastfed babies have better IQ
5) Breastfeeding reduces chance of allergies
6) breastfeeding reduces risk of postpartum depression & easier recovery
7) breastfed babies adapt to different tastes & adapt to solid food with ease
8) Breastmilk contains enzymes, good bacteria & immunity not found anywhere else
