Installing the Perfect Pullup Bar

  • I installed a Perfect Pullup bar in my house, and thought it was worth documenting, in case anyone else is trying to install one.
    It was a fast and easy install, and it is nice having the pullup bar there for exercise.
    It looks like the current version of the Perfect Pullup bar has been changed slightly, but the installation process should still be pretty similar.

    I’m finally selling a Perfect pull bar I had over 10year on market place and a few other groups and I didn’t give the instructions, but after google and seeing this I’ll make sure I link this video for whoever buys it.

    I found my old Perfect Pullup in a box from 10 years ago... forgot how to install it. Thanks for posting. Mine is identical to yours and also comes with removable handles which you may or may-not need for certain exercises. This is a good solid unit and is more sturdy than newer models from what I've seen.

      There are some pullup bars that hook onto the door frame, and those don't require any screws or drilling. They don't work as well as this one, but it's better than nothing.

    Do you need to put a pilot hole or can you drill the screw in without the pilot hole?

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff  5 років тому

      You can probably screw it in without a pilot hole, but I would at least poke it with an awl or a nail, to make sure the screw starts in the right place.

    • @DoctorEvil
      @DoctorEvil Рік тому

      I know this was 3 years ago but if anyone else is wondering, it's always better to pre drill because you could crack the wood in your door frame if you don't.

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff  3 роки тому

      Any screws that fit through the holes and are at least 2" long should be fine. I think it comes with shorter screws, but it's stronger to use screws that go all the way into the studs.

    This is a long shot but i was hoping to get some help
    For your perfect pull up bar, was the bar a separate piece, independent from the arms that attach to the door?
    I found a perfect pull up bar in my house and no one knows where it came from. But it has two metal "handles" that are attached to the arms. There is no piece that connects the two handles. I don't know if I'm missing a piece or if this is how it is. There is no foam on the handles, it's solid metal.
    I wonder if I'm missing a foam or hand friendly piece that connects the two metal handles

      @BobsWoodStuff  4 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure which part you are talking about. Check out this video. It has the whole pullup bar and the rotating handles that hook onto the bar.

      Hopefully that answers your question about handles.

      It's the exact same as the one in my video, seems to have gotten cheaper over the years, but same basic design.

      Thanks for putting the link Bob.
      I'm putting this here in case it's helpful to anyone. The product is no longer sold in Canada (where I live anyway). Instead of paying insane shipping fees, my dad gave me his old suspension straps which I attached to my normal pullup bar. The whole point was just so I could do inverted rows, but the suspension strap allows quite a wide range of exercises. Something like this: www.amazon.ca/WISFRUIT-Resistance-Fitness-Bodyweight-Suspension/dp/B0876Z3DVG/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=trx+suspension+strap&qid=1591762399&sr=8-15 I can't find the exact brand he bought, but it's been working pretty well for me.

    How does the door remain functional after installing this bar?

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff  Рік тому

      The bar goes on the outside of the door jamb and the door opens to the inside, so it doesn't obstruct it.

      The horizontal bar is completely removed after each workout. The only thing left showing is the small slide-in brackets.

    Can the bar be installed in the garage on the beams?

    • @BobsWoodStuff
      @BobsWoodStuff  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, it should be able to go between a couple of beams. The important thing is that you keep the J hooks facing upward, since those hold the bar up.

    you spoil your door frame by installing nearly 8 screws which is not good. there are pull up bars which do not require screws to install.
