After making this video I realized there are a few thoughts I left out....
    1. In my opinion most of these products are a bit overpriced for what you're receiving. If you're a handy person or can do some DIY stuff head in that direction. Or go with gymnastic rings, they will serve you for a long time for minimal expense.
    2. The lower bar (basebar but there are other companies) can be really handy for developing your first pull-up if you're not there yet. This is because as you see in the video, you can do rows on it quite easily. This will help you develop your back muscles enough to eventually get that pullup.
    3. If you want to do weighted pull ups, which are great for developing more back strength... you'll most likely want to go with a squat stand variation because you need something sturdy.
    4. My pick: if money isn't a worry I'd go with a squat stand. If I'm on a budget I go with rings. Combining both is your own personal training heaven at home :)

Doesnt the doorway pull up ruin the door for us that are renting?

No. Not necessarily. Make sure you have something which stops rubbing. You might need to sand and paint afterwards. But they don’t cause real damage.

@GuidetteExpert slight scuffing of the paint on wall and/or trim around the door is worst case scenario if installed and used correctly. Ive used them for months at a time without any marking on my house at all

At 43 years young, I'm working on my first pull up ever. Been obese my entire life. I can almost pull up to 90 degrees at my elbows. I have a way to go but I know I'm almost there. Thank you guys. Discovered your channel a couple months ago and started a daily hang routine. It has changed my life for the better. Have lost nearly 30 lbs since my first hang attempt which lasted nearly 3 seconds lol. Life is beautiful.

I too am 43, things like freehangs and negatives might be really helpful for getting your joints ready. Some long resistance bands are super helpful. The hanging is great for grip and getting your shoulders into proper overhead extension and strengthening the shoulder joints prior to developing the muscles for pullups. Congratulations on your weight loss and all of your current progress!!! 👏

Hi I'm a 59 yr old woman who stretches daily, and plays tennis. My son and you two educate me a lot. I'm now hanging from my son's doorframe mounted bar daily. He'll be moving out soon and taking it with him. I can hang rings from my ceiling!

I built a pair of pullup bars in my back yard using 4x4's, buckets sunk into the ground with concrete, a pipe and a flange. There are lots of youtube videos out there to show you how to do it and this was an easy project. The result has been fantastic. By the way, I'll soon be 67 and I'm still working out 4 days a week. Even sets of hanging from the bar for as long as I seem really beneficial.

Hangs are the most underrated exercise there is. I had all sorts of niggles in my shoulder and back from sitting in office chairs all day for decades, and after seeing a YT video about hangs I started on them and within a month all my niggles disappeared. I got my parents who are in their 70's onto them and they said they now feel 10 years younger, just from some simple hangs (and walking). Everyone I know who does them raved about how much better they feel now.

I just got a set of rings, and I am enjoying watching the results. I also am waiting on a delivery of a pair of parallettes. I’m 62 and have fallen in love with body weight training. I enjoy the flexibility of not needing to be in a gym for strength building. You guys are awesome!

Thank you so much for your channel! I love your easy going nature, but you two also make everything accessible for everyone. I'm rebuilding my fitness after a bit of a detour, and a pair of those wood rings sure would help out! I'm not super comfortable with the gym, so I'm using calisthenics, yoga and jumping rope to get myself back on the right track!

Just discovered your youtube page a few days ago and it couldn’t have been at a better time… when, at 24 years old, my gf is saying i have the body of a 85 year old man.. I’ve always been active but never flexible and it’s causing TONS of avoidable injuries. Your page has been making me motivated to keep my body and mind active all day so j can unlock my muscles.
Thanks and cheers to more mobility! Pull-up rings would be ideal and bad ass!

I have the exact same "Khanh Trinh Pull-Up Bar Stand". In my opinion, it's a great product. I use it for pull ups, rows, ring muscle ups, back lever, etc. I never had any problem with this product. The big advantage is that it's square foot friendly (in live in a apartment)

I always enjoy your site even though I find workout practices more difficult now. In 2020 I had lumbar spinal fusion that caused an infection. The result was loss of leg strength, back problems, and difficulty walking. Now at 80 I no longer exercise 5 or more days a week (the gym, walking and swimming). There is a pull-up bar where I walk and I have tried it a few times. Your video is an encouragement to use it more often. Get out and move as often as you can because you never know how quickly your abilities can change.

    My favourite/dream setup would be:
Hanging the rings on a permanent spot on my ceiling inside, instead of setting it up every single time I wanna use it outside. Preferable near my patio doors that can open and let the sun in when exercising. When my little cousins come over I can lower the rings and lay a gym mat underneath for them to play with.
That would be perfect and a dream come true.
Thank you for your great content 👌🏻🙌🏻

There have been many accidents related to improper use of I hooks. Use caution and look for brackets rated for vertical load suspension.

Great tips guys, I've got decent options at home luckily and am too cheap to buy a gym membership. I hate working out in public, I even get nervous about neighbors watching when I'm in the back yard lol. I don't even let my wife watch, I hide away. I've really got to work on that. My favorite is rings. They are not fixed so they're good for joint health and stabilizing muscle development, easy to adjust heights, reliable ( no worries about shit falling apart and tipping over lol), and also inexpensive and fairly durable.

I haven't been on UA-cam in about a week - and by coincidence, I was going to DM you folks to see how your home "hang bar" set up was installed, so that I could DIY one myself. Also by coincidence, I'm looking for some gymnastics rings. Probably too late, no worries. Appreciate all the info and great content from the Strength Side! Keep up the great work!

I like all the setups (bars, and rings, fingerboard) for different things. Would love a set of rings or a fingerboard at home. But good call on the DIY and the park. Even in Iceland, I usually get by with a bar at one of the local park gyms, or a sturdy tree branch.

I have been using a door way pull up bar which got the job done, I still hang from the bar as I go past but I now have my squat rack set up which is nice and sturdy although my ceiling is pretty low so I have to watch my head as I reach over the bar :) .

I love the rings personally because of their multiple applications. When finished you can stow them in a back pack and carry them easily. I love the fact they’re so portable. The other reason is I can get my shoulders into external rotation with multiple exercises eg pull up, dip, top position which is good for cuff activation

I’ve never been able to do a pull up but love strength training. I want to achieve my first one this year. I think I would want rings because I could rig them up so many places!

Favorite pull-up set are rings. I can use them anywhere. I also love bands. The bars are on my list of wants.

My favorite pull up setup is going to a park near by and doing pull/muscle ups! Nothing like working out in the great outdoors!!

I would love a squat stand, but I need to build my upper back strength so I think I will start with the base bar. Thanks for the recommendations!!
