- Hello my lovely Magpies!
Today I will be showing you how I make these fabric mache pots - no sewing at all - just scrap fabric and glue.
The idea I got as I was flipping through Pinterest :
www.alteredstatesstudio.com/b...
I hope you enjoy the process and perhaps make your own pretty and useful lots.

Beautiful! I made a fabric bowl a couple of years ago, I cut scraps from a few of my dad’s shirts after he passed away. Every time I look at the bowl I have lovely memories of him wearing these shirts. I call it my ‘memory bowl’ . I just wished I thought of this after my mum passed. ❤️
That’s a wonderful idea Jay - I’m sure it brings you much pleasure ❤️
Beautiful. You make it look so easy. I think this will be a cute x-mas gift for my 3 sisters. Will give it a go. TFS ❤
You are very welcome 🤗
Very cute
Thank you :)
Wonderful 😊
Thank you :) 🥰
Fun, fun, fun!! I am definitely going to try this! I think I’ll try mixing the orts in the glue first before adhering to the base. Thanks for the inspiration and humour! 😂
Excellent and that might be a good plan :) Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
I made one a couple of months ago. Loved it! I will be making more.
Excellent - I’m going to make up a few more for storage tubs :)
I stiffened cupcake papers with white glue and put them into cookie tins that I use to store buttons. Each color of button has a it’s own little cup. Of course, I decorated the outside of the tins with fabric bands that I made to match the color of buttons that are stored in each tin. It might sound nuts to some people, but most sewists or crafters probably understand.
That is a great idea!! I have some silicone cupcake baking cases that I use to sort my beads into but your idea is lovely! 🥰
New subbie here from New Zealand. Brilliant idea, thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome! 🤗❤️
I love this
Thank you :) ☺️
What a fabulous idea Tori, looks so cool and that moment where you pulled the mold out was ULTRA satisfying! :D Love the pom pom finish too, don't ever stop being "extra"! :)
Ahh yes - the mold removal is super satisfying I have to say! Also - I would Pom Pom anything if it sat still for long enough!! Thanks Annie! ❤️
Extra points for making your pot talk back to you. Lol! ❤
Haha - I talk to everything! 🥰❤️
What a great scrap buster and looks fun to make... I love playing with glue, the messier the better :)
Thank you and agreed! 🥰❤️
Great idea! You have inspired me to get busy. It’s a perfect size to store fabric scraps for other projects.
Brilliant :) - so glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Wow fantastic idea. School holidays after next week this will be a fabulous craft item to do with your children or grandchildren. Thinking I might need one for me desk, lol yep I’m a kid at heart.
Yes - great to share with children. I still am one - I don’t ever want to be a grown up:) 🥰
I have received my ray of light kit and wanted to say thank you so much Tori, such a mix of coulours and sparkles, not unlike yourself 😊 I love the glitter aquares and wondered what its called and where I could get a sheet from please ?
You've had me going through my recycling now 🤭 hooking out the milk carton I just threw out, what ever will you have me doing next 😂
I made a papier mache covered pot from Sarah Hands video with ears, lol.
So this is obviously a must for me to have a go at too, I keep all my offcuts and threads in a pot too, some one on here inspired me to keep all my leftovers, I love the bright citrus one 💛🧡 and I just picked up some rainbow pom pom trim yumee. 😊
This will give my pinkies a rest, I have stabbed them a few times with all the sewing and stabbing You've had me doing 😂 I even managed to get the threaded end of the needle with thread in my thumb the other day. Ouchie. I have that glue gun and it has the 2 settings on it, so another injury warning 😅 I have got the pinkie protectors, but like you I use the finger not wearing them. 🙃🙄🤦♀️🥰💗 great tutorial as usual. Have a fab weekend, stay cool 🧊🍹x
I have to keep you busy don’t I? 😀. The glitter material is from a place called Paper and String - a veritable rabbit hole. I just scroll in there and shout “take my money”. There is so much stuff in there.
The paper mache pot sounds very cool and I intend to do some myself shortly! Yes - it’s good to give your sewing fingers a rest for when I bring out the next project! Have a lovely weekend my lovely! 🥰❤️🥰
I have a job keeping up with you and all your kooky wombling ideas 😊
Thank you, I will go see if it shouts out to me too 😂
🥰💗
🥰❤️
What a fun way to use up bits and pieces too small for many other crafts. Think the threads or "orts" on the bottom inside are delightful. Resounding yes to the pom pom trim. Lots of other trims one could use as well. Over all A+, love this messy functional art. Cheers!
Thank you - I’m so pleased you enjoyed it :) I have a few of these now and they are super sturdy and can hold a whole host of things 🥰❤️
I really enjoy your videos. I was a registered nurse for 30 years but loved helping with art when my children were in primary school. I was also a Joey scouts leader for a few years about the same time . I was always covered in paint or glue and I loved it. This looks like fun. Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️
Brilliant - there’s nothing better and being covered in glue and paint 🥰❤️
this is cool - would never have thought of it - and it reminded me of something i heard last night when watching another youtube video - if you can do it with paper, you can do it with fabric - and you proved that point with this!
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it 🥰❤️
I love your projects and skills.
Thank you so much. So pleased that you are enjoying them 🥰😊
So cute! I think I'll use this technique to decorate a cottage cheese container. Then I can put a small plant in it!
That’s a great idea Denice - enjoy making it :) 🥰
This looks so pretty and fun to make. It's a great idea. I think that if I make it I will add bias tape around the top edge before adding the poms.
That's a great idea! :) 🥰
Fantastic pots. Fun project. TFS Tori!
Thank you 🥰
Lovely project Tori (as usual). I can see it as a summer holidays project for my granddaughters! I must gather up the makings for it. Thank you.
Thank you Sue! It is a project that they would love I think! The Orts are the only fiddly bit but that is an optional layer. I would just add an extra layer of fabric on the bottom instead for strength :) 🥰
Fun! Great project!
Thank you Sherry! Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
This is my next project! So cute!
Thank you Delilah - enjoy! 🥰❤️
Very pretty so many nice bits of material :-)
I do have quite a stash to use up 🤣🥰❤️
Looks like fun. Think I'll do mine in blues.
They are lovely and strong too :) I’m going to try some different sizes - maybe a round one too 🥰❤️
I love this idea. You could store your fabric scraps in this.
I will be making more of them when the weather gets warmer ( quicker to dry!) for this very purpose :) 🥰
Cut the handle if it’s wood and sand smooth or tape the end😁
That’s a great idea but I want to keep the handles I think :) Painted and decorated :) 🥰❤️
Really cute❤ I probably would have put a strip of cloth around the top edge, after trimming it. Then, add the pom pom trim. Thank you for sharing. A new subscriber here. Looking forward to more projects.
Thank you Patricia and welcome to the channel 🥰
What a fun idea! And I love how colorful you made yours, and it definitely needed the pom poms, that makes it really special. Super fun project!! Thanks for sharing and your fun attitude, I subscribed!
Thank you so much and welcome!! I’m so pleased you enjoyed it :) 🥰❤️
How cute! I wouldn't attempt the threads 😄
Haha it worked well and made the base very solid but it was a bit messy to put together 🥰
This looks so cute!! Is it flexible enough to use as a junk journal cover, with a little redesign of course!! Love it!!Thank you! 💕
Hi Donna - it is quite sturdy but perhaps if you did the same technique onto a sturdy cardboard base that had been made into shape….hmmm yes…a definite possibility 🥰❤️
Since the plastic wrap is transparent, you can also just marker lines around the mold at different intervals to have various stopping points available at any time.
Great tip! Thank you for sharing! 🥰
Hi Tori:
Adorable and very functional! Love your bright colors. I sew little baskets for clips and such. May have to try this sometime. Really like the Orts on the bottom. Just learned that word recently from Recrafted by Carol, on UA-cam. She’s from the UK. What if you grabbed a bunch of those threads with a tweezer and put them in the jar of glue, and then attached them to the container. Less messy and fiddly. Thank you for sharing. 💜😎🇺🇸
Thanks Joanne and yes your tips for the Orts might just work :). I’ll give it a go next time 🥰❤️
Love this! Do you have to use cotton/natural fabrics? Will it work with synthetics? I might give it a go!
I think it would work with synthetics too. :) 🥰
