- I ventured out to the Forest for the first time since the winter, hoping the midges had finished, well they very nearly have disappeared so a magic chilled Tarp and Bivy was enjoyed with a wonderful sunset.

Lovely mid week camp Adrian . I can’t see the point in midges or ticks!
Definitely worth doing a few nights camp on a route to get used to your kit , 2nd tiredness and having to walk to the next point really shows how things work.

Montane trailblazer is only 44L yet 1050gr. Osprey Exos is 55L yet only 947gr with the suspended back, you can get frameless rucksacks 55L and only 550gr. !! But so expensive and realistically have comfortable can they be ?

I don’t often take a tripod but if I do I will !
I have three guys on the ground side always attached, these have sliding hitch’s on I peg the back first, then each of the front corners again hitch’s and a loop and carabiner to the tarp, I will show it one day

My time in the wild is to enjoy being out not so much cooking for me so these are great,
The curry was Bens, very tasty and filling, much cheaper than camping food, they do a spicy three bean chilli non carni ! And spicy lentil stew, my local Morrison’s used to do them, but I use Asda or online.

What walk are you doing in scotland adrian ? Another great video, i have a sierra designs flex capacitor 40-60 bag which has a frame and a hyperlite 55 frameless bag. Both very light and have seen me through several multi day hikes in scorland. Worth checking out

Flex capacitor is heavier than my Exos 58 but the hyperlight looks great at 700gr I was looking at Durston at 700 but says it does not fit my back, and MLD 55 litre but a bit pricey to chance in case it’s not comfortable.

These meals are great for a camp, far cheaper than camping meals and filling and tasty, they do a few flavours, where from ? I know my local Morrison’s stopped them, but Asda have them.
