How a simple thing as a kick stand can make your day lol, loved this video which brought back some great memories of tomitoul, booked a hotel up there maybe 15 years ago, think it was the only there as I remember, old stone built hotel, stayed in the hotel one night and then spent 7 days just hiking around the Cairngorms national park and various places with my golden retriever, amazing place and views and great memories. Thank you
It is. Wonderful area around tomintoul - an area I haven’t really explored until this outer loop trail - much fun and a wonderful area Thanks for watching
@ScotlandsMountains great video Murray, It always helpful to see the routes you take on these journeys, not sure if quite difficult to give more a detailed breakdown of your journeys, I know there is plenty route information available online but I love exploring the individual breakdowns of routes, areas, history, wildlife etc. Thanks again
Fantastic filming of a fantastic landscape, altogether fantastic work 👏 keep them coming. Fantastic is my word of the day and your efforts were certainly that.
I enjoyed this film Murray as I did the same route this summer. It’s a toughie and I’m glad it wasn’t cold and snowy when I did it. That second day with all those stream crossings was gruelling. We pedalled for 12hrs and got to the White Bridge. The whole thing took us 2.5 days. A great little cycle. 🙏
It is a fantastic route - as you say maybe better in the longer days of summer (when dry as there are so many streams to cross ! lol ) the inner loop looks brutal too !!
@ It rained a lot for us. The streams were in spate and my friend and her bike nearly got washed away until I went back in and rescued her. 😳 The inner loop is unrideable - there are some funny UA-cam videos with people cursing all the way round. 🤣🤣
Wow, 200km through Scotland’s wild mountains in freezing weather.. that's an adventure to remember! It must’ve been tough, but the views and experience looks really amazing. Great effort getting through it all! And awesome video btw. Your footage is really outstanding 😍
Absolutely brilliant Murray, what a stunning adventure that was. Looked very tough at times mind with all those river crossings. Thanks for taking us a long for the ride...literally. All the best Dave
Thanks Dave - I reckon this would be a beast of a ride on the bike if the river levels were high !! luckily there had been about 4 weeks of zero rain beofre I did it , otherwise I would have had to have packed my kayak on the back!!lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
What an epic journey! I envy your fitness but loved watching every minute, thank you for showing us Scotland’s beautiful landscape- especially appreciated I’m sure, by those of us who are too old, live too far away etc. and can’t enjoy it in person. Beautiful, nostalgic and envious of your fitness.!Looking forward to your next excursion. Stay well and safe and thanks again. 👏😀🏴
You're a tough bugger Mr Wilkie - respect! At my age I prefer a slower pace with less time restrictions. Having not (yet) been to the Cairngorms, I'm in awe of the place. Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful bothy too - 5-star for a bothy.
Thanks Murray, great video as usual. I spent a few days hiking up there in the Cairngorms myself, camping at the Loch Morlich campground as a base to explore there, and made a couple of trips up there with the Army for the annual ski-training and the racing in poor snow conditions. Many many many years ago the 70's off course. Keep them coming thanks!
Thanks Robin - interestingly in the gloom as I was approaching camp on the first night I cycled past a couple of people who were dressed head to toe in white gear (reminded me of where eagles dare"! wonder if they were army training - very odd as it was dark andmost people had come off the trail by that point.. Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Thanks Ellen - yes the campsite on the first night was lovely and it was nice to have the fire in the stove to warm up to - wasnt as warm the next few days when I left the warmth of the tent mind you!!lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
A very ambitious trip Murray. But once again superb footage and coverage of your monumental trip. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and again the time you take in all conditions to film is appreciated, must be time consuming as you say. Take care and look forward to your next adventure.
One of the most enjoyable of your many trips, Murray. I have made the Cairngorms my second home / base which I travel to 4-5 times a year from Durham. I have even stopped in Perth Tescos once to buy the infamous Scotch Eggs, but still prefer a pork pie!! Thanks to your recommendation, I have begun to follow Mispronounced Adventures. Thank you once again for excellent content and some outstanding drone footage. Seasons greetings. ATB Colin
Excellent video again, thank you! I also always enjoy the snippets of history and folklore that you give us on the area you are in 👍 As for all those stream and river crossings... well, I won't complain again about the 2 or 3 that I may happen to encounter here in the Lakes where they haven't provided a footbridge, the audacity 😅
What a video. Absolutely epic. Watched with hubby and we thought we knew the Cairngorms pretty well, but we clearly don’t. Have walked from home in Nethy along the Ryvoan pass to Glenmore more times than I can remember. but have never turned left to Tomintoul which looks like it would be a great walk. I was shouting at the screen for you to stop cycling and put your tent up and get warm on that second night (like … as if you didn’t know to do that already 🙄😂). The quality of your clips is outstanding. Thanks for providing such great content.
haha - I was also wanting to set camp ASAP before hypothermia set in!!lol - I was certainly glad to get the tent up and the fire going on the second night!! Thanks for watching ATB Murray
What an adventure. Loved your first camping spot with the moon over the loch. Tough after that though, being so cold. I loved watching the vlog, thank you so much!
I absolutely love these videos the scenery is just breathtaking, as someone who has retired because of arthritic knees it gets me out of the house so to speak. 😂
Really enjoy your videos - especially the multi day trips - Skye Trail , Knoydart. I'm not a cyclist but I've walked most of your route. An outstanding achievement - especially in view of time of year, panier frame probs. Your perseverance and good humour are an example to us all!
Murray, that was some adventure and just the sort of trip I enjoy watching and I appreciate you sharing it and making such a fantastic job of presenting it in such a beautiful way, very moving. I have been lucky to have hiked some of those glens and Glen tilt just earlier this year. You did really well , providing a lot of inspiration for me and maybe I’ll get back there next year. A very merry Christmas to you and your family. 🏕️🎄🥃👍
This was awesome Murray you did amasing, thank you for sharing it with us, reckon the porkpie helped, just love your channel, one of my fav,s. hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a peaceful 2025. xxxxxx
Kick stand , who would have guessed that before the end 😂.. sounds like a good idea 👍 What a cracking adventure, that didn't look easy at times , I think some would have given up after day one 😅 So what was the total of river crossing ? 100+ by the looks of it , and I thought Tomintoul would have been your whisky choice 🤷♂️🤣 Keep the big vids coming , they are enjoyable joining you on your big adventures 👍
Smashing Murray, a great adventure on the bike, I've done the outer and inner loop many times on the bike over the years, but it's a tough one at this time of year, you definitely don't need gear failures that's for sure, I highly recommend the Tailfin bike packing rack & luggage, it's lightweight & durable, expensive but worth every penny IMHO. ATB 👍
Well done 👍 Murray, a wee tip for you, put a couple of bin liners in your kit, handy to put over your boots if the river or burns are a wee bit deep, brilliant for keeping the feet dry 😁.
Wow...😊 Heyup old friend 💥. Not had much time lately for Le tube👋. I had a work accident broke a cervical vertebrae with compressed spinal cord and thoracic spinal deformation too. And a full time carer of a parent with diminishing Cognitive function too. So, when one watches utube with a narrow window one must watch cream of the crop😊.. Best wishes for the big man and may yer boots steam eternal 😮🎉💥💥🤲👍
Hi Fraser - sorry to hear about your accident - really hope you can get well and recover soon as it sounds bad. Speedy recoveruy sir - I have 10 videos coming up before the end of the month so hope they give you something to watch!!lol Thanks for watching ATB Murray
It's a good job you know what you're doing x Certainly in that weather . I have the maps out, and Scottish Hill Tracks, and I'm still confused. Brilliant xx
I like your idea of using an isolated burner. Too often I have found a good spot for camping...to see the place covered in charcoal from ground fires. It's really annoying.
I dont think there are any excuses nowadays for leaving Scorch marks on the ground - that’s definitely leaving a trace - and for months or years to unfortunately:(
@@ScotlandsMountains I really think the Scottish Outdoor Code should be sharpened up. Sadly, it relies on the responsibility and respect form people....that sadly is lacking at times.
Hi Stuart - yeah they are tubeless tyres - been pretty good and only had tk repair them once since I got the bike :) - I had waterproof socks on too and gaiters and waterproof boots - however if the rivers were high it would’ve been difficult to keep dry feet !🦶
Terrific effort Murray, A wee quibble . The right to roam has been legal since 1320, it's just a pity that we have such a lousy legal system. Creating any kind of hindrance is also illegal.

Murray, that was another wonderful video, thanks for sharing your journey with us and I'm glad you've warmed up since. Helps a lot!
That was terrific Murray. Intense at times but compulsive viewing. Thanks for showing us around a wonderful part of Scotland.
Thanks Davey - hope you enjoyed the video
Looks like it’s one of those early in bed with a cup of tea to watch an epic Murray adventure Wednesday nights
Hope you enjoyed it tucked up in a nice warm bed ! Wasn’t nice and warm on this trip 😂

Thanks Murray. Great trip
Thank you again; wonderful film and a source of more inspiration.
Another really good video, thanks again Murray.
Another great adventure. Thanks for sharing, Murray. 🙂

Incredible film Murray. What an awesome place.
Fantastic effort and a total pleasure to watch, amazing Glen's and views
Thanks Harry - much appreciated- was a fun (if cold!) trip
Fabulous, was up there at Tomintoul earlier this year, wild remote Scotland at its finest.
It’s an area I haven’t really explored before around Tomintoul . Such a lovely area 👌👍
How many kilometers per Scotch Egg does a Murray get? 😆 I loved every minute of this adventure through the Cairngorms. Cheers, and ATB!

Worth missing out on a video last week for this, Murray! Great work as always.
