My favourite detail that I didn't discover until years after first playing the game as a kid is that in the GDI commando mission, if you blow up the Tiberium Refinery, Nod will be totally hamstrung in the next mission, more so than if you made it to the Construction Yard
It's strongly implied that the Serbian Black Hand of the 1910s was a Nod proxy. The Tiberium War ends where WWI began for a reason (not just coincidence).

Check the text briefing of mission 7 if you don't believe me. Heck, the mission's name in the Remaster is literally "Destroy the Airstrip".
I'm pretty certain if you were to survey everyone's first choice to shoot with the Ion Cannon at the of the NOD campaign, France would be the number one choice.

You can actually complete the mission without using the bomb, giving you a sort of good ending where Granger praises you for not using the tib bomb
