Well, everyone is fighting the Zerg in one way or the other, the Protoss to escape them, the UED to control the new Overmind, and Kerrigan to destroy the Overmind and wipe out the UED.
It really starts in the UED campaign, but yeah... for the most part the actual 'Brood War' is completely off screen and mostly just referenced. Daggoth doesn't even make an appearance in game and it's just kind of assumed that he died at some point.
From the moment the overmind ceased to exist, Kerrigan, the cerebrates she gained control of and those who resisted her went to war against each other. Also, dugalles and stukov are actually here for the new overmind and a human-controlled brood from the very beginning.

Starcraft 1 and brood war were always my favorites. Such a Dark Story and plot, Rife with everything that made it a Cosmological Horror-Action Franchise. Only to be "Shamalized" By the Sequel and its Convaluted Plot with rouge Xel'Naga. But i do LOVE that SC 1 actually included the First ever seen "Hybrids". A Nice way to set up the Main enemies in the Second Games.

Marines were called mauraders and were supposed to have grenade ability I think. Queens had Mutalisk attack, Defilers were the only non-terran unit with concusive attack and mutalisks were spitting acid. You can see them do it in the cinematic with Tassadar's sacrifice.

What was the air support even supposed to do? Individually snipe each zergling? Plus, you know tassadar could have lived? If you keep him in the corner of the map, build a carrier, siege tank, and battlecruiser army and kill all of the zerg except the overmind, build a literal civilization around the whole map, and then use zeratul to kill the overmind, shouldn’t tassadar survive just fine? Also, since duran is xel’naga, if he dies as a ghost, killed by a random marine, does that mean that the marine has killed an elder god? Also, how did the UED even kill the Cerebrates, why did dugalle even think destroying the disrupter was a good idea. Also, artanis shot down the overlords that would have killed aldaris, he would have been the greatest hero ever, if you mind control a drone during the temple mission, you can create an entire zerg army, which also survives by going into the temple, so does that mean the protoss have a brood under their control? Also, my boy stukov :( .

@@endo4137 ah, i see, since usually cerebrates reappear immediately (except for when fenix killed one), i thought that they died. Anyways, another sad thing is how easy it is to kill fenix with broodlings (really sad), and that duke has a real problem with any structure getting destroyed, even if it’s infested or in enemy territory (the first real mission and the char mission where you have to bring tassadar to the facility).
@@Classic-ip5dr Duke had a problem with destroying that command center because the confederate high command knew about the Zerg and were using them to conduct experiments to try to control them. That's why Duke gets angry and Raynor for destroying the command center, cause he disrupted the experiment
