I have towed many miles and I've never used a "silencer" I feel like that's a towing vehicle issue or a load issue.
Yea as I said it is not necessary. If your trailer is loaded and the tongue weight is set correctly, you’re not going to get much (if any) ‘rattle/clunking noise’ coming from your hitch. I do pull a smaller utility trailer that can make noise when unloaded/hitting bumps. The silencer eliminates that. Thx for the comment!
I use a bolt, washer, lock washer, & nut. Cinch it down tight & you're good to go. Also it acts as a theft deterrent. Most thieves won't take the time to un-bolt the hitch as they want to get in & out as fast as they can.
Great point on the theft deterrent. They aren’t taking it unless they happen to have a wrench handy!
