We can all see that gravity has the sand moving forward, preventing it from flowing through the gun.
I'd recommend to either hold upright or add more sand.
Also, sift out the sand and use a finer sand.

Hard for gravity to work if the hole is vertical and not horizontal. Use it pointing straight not down or on a 10 to 20 degree angle

Well, I need a blaster for very small jobs. I’m guessing this one needs very fine grit/sand and if so, it should work just fine for very small jobs.

@@TheYorkshireMix You need decently fine media and very dry air for it to work properly. Also worth checking the air passage behind the nozzle. I found that when they drilled the passage they left a flap of metal hanging over where the end of the drill had broken through
Pushed that out of the way with a small screwdriver and it works much better, still only for small projects though. I've used mine with glass beads to clean motorcycle engines.

Good honest review mate,I built from scratch a sandblasting unit cupboard type thing took me ages,a silencer unit for me compresser,I was super chuffed, plugged this thing in to my comp,it wouldn't of taken the skin off a rice pudding,I was devastated to say the least, as you can imagine , realised my 24l comp isn't strong enough, probably need atleast double, but yor right ,that unit is still lol, thanks for the vid, spot on mate.

Yeah its very disappointing isn't it. I ended up buying a blasting cabinet and that works so much better. ( after doing a few modifications that is). You definitely need a bigger compressor for blasting mate as it uses a lot of air. My 90l compressor is probably the smallest you could get away with but it is still running all the time that you are blasting. 👍

Try baking soda in it, there a guy on here that has same gun and it works really well for surface rust and paint. His aim wasn't to strip to bare metal, it was to get it ready to paint. And the soda did good job knocking all the loose crap off

Sorry you had such a poor experience. Did you run it at 90 PSI? If you did not that would be a big factor for it not performing well. Also the media you purchased looked like rather tan fine grains of media. I have a similar gun and it runs like a dream, but I use mainly soda media on carburetors. It works great on furniture too and even takes paint and rust of metals. Try a finer media and be sure your compressor can keep up with the volume of air you’ll be using. Good luck.

A few years ago I saw a gun like yours and I thought the concept was clever. However, when I looked at the air consumption, which I can’t remember now how much it was, my little 25L air compressor would not cope with it because it would be running pretty much constantly. At the end I given up the idea.
Apparently, to use sand blasting guns we should have at least a 100L air compressor, the bigger the better obviously. At the moment the 25L air compressor is the max I can have in my garage due to lack of space. So, no sand blasting for me 😂

    • @TheYorkshireMix

There is a difference between 'cheap' and 'inexpensive'. I did not hear you mention the price. You should preview your videos and understand how to use and setup the equipment you are reviewing before you post anything. For example, what pressure did you set your compressor? Did you realize that you can adjust the media flow rate using the lever adjustment? I bought this sand blasting gun and it worked well to remove rust and to prepare a surface for painting or electroplating. The user manual says not to use this with 'sand'. You did not mention what kind of 'sand blasting media', the mesh or anything else about what you used. Just my two cents worth!
