Hello Mack, what do you think about the new quake game?
Summary
This was a difficult game to review as the price is very low for this type of production value and the game although very frustrating is also rewarding at the same time.
I think the worst aspect of this game is the lack of immersion through some of the ludicrous crimes that are being committed. It's almost like the devs game up on trying to think of real stuff to throw in there. I mean having a waitress assaulted by a tray should not require 900 points worth of Policed response.
The management of your cops is also very hard, imo just a bit too hard. Trying to get them to work together and then remember which one hates your guts is very challenging. But when you get it under control it's really satisfying to do a clean slate and solve all the crimes that day.
I was convinced this was a thumb down until I learned to play it properly and then thought about the price, story and all the other content that is fun with the game. I guess this caught out all the reviewers that were desperate to get their review out first as they totally missed the ball on this one.
How many points should a facebook related assault count for Mack?
I was a huge fan of the first game, I played it a few times and actually finished it recently. Management games are always a blast for me and I enjoy something related to law enforcement, though I will admit that it's more fun in the beginning and that it gets repetitive later on. I'll need to sharpen up on my personnel management because toward the end of my completed playthough all my cops either showed up drunk or didn't come in at all and it was a constant cycle of bringing in low skilled cops to replace the ones that died in drunk driving accidents until the new batches become alcoholics themselves and become part of the cycle. I wish taking down the Sands had more of an impact, it was very anticlimactic to just have them disappear with no story effect. I'll take your advice on keeping the cops loyal to you for the xcom segments, I enjoyed the text-based-RPG element of the first game but I'll see how the new system compares. I'm not sure how I feel about the price of a game being a determining factor in its overall quality because those who can afford it will get it on the outset and everyone else will just wait for a sale -- either way they'll get their hands on it if they want it.

I never even finished the first one. Too hard. Yet I still kind of enjoyed it.
I quite like the simplistic gameplay and the cool art style of the first one with the jazzy soundtracks playing in the background. Still trying to complete it. It's hard too but it has it's enjoyable moments especially when you solve a crime. It only cost me £5 so £11 for the new one is decently priced. Worth a go if you like slow paced strategy type games...good for a lazy Sunday on the sofa with a cold beer, and when you can't be arsed with fast FPS shooters for a change.

Could never get past the 8th of December myself (my birthday ironically enough). I personally believe this game was unnecessarily hard.
The cop loyalty was an annoying feature, I ended up dumping a lot of them on case investigations. There's absolutely no need to have such rampant disobedience in your subordinates. The experience needed to respond to a crime was a joke. How do you need 1195 points (essentially 4 - 5 officers) to respond to a domestic disturbance? The alcoholism in many officers was too much also. Everything is so bloody expensive too with poor payment for other errands, all to pay off the extremely irritating Fry.
At first, I absolutely despised the X-COM combat feature because it took getting used to. It takes about 2 - 3 attempts and careful assignment of perks to complete the tactical assignments. You either love it or hate it, but it's ok I suppose.
The threat of being turned over to the feds is a ridiculous feature also since it makes no sense for Lilly to turn you in. She's already implicated herself by not reporting you at first and essentially allowing a fugitive on the FBI's Most Wanted List to take over a police station. Never understood why this was a thing, never will.
Overall, not worth buying unfortunately. Such a shame too since the story to the first game was brilliant. This game? Merely Fargo with X-COM.

da_jeezuss Yeah of course we all know Doom 1 is worth a buy at that price haha. I only asked because he mentioned in his previous video that he would do a retro WAB on it, and I just want to watch it for the entertainment value tbh.

So it's a realistic cop simulator. All those cop issues sounded just like what happens in real life cops.
Just finished the game after having it on a shelf since its release and man, this game was fixed pretty good. Difficulty is ok right now, i would even said it's became easy in 1.0.7.0, which is a good thing because gameplay is relatively repetitive and you just want to follow the story.

Hey Mack since there is not a lot of games coming out at this moment , I think you should play Yakuza 0 which just came out on PC. It's a massive RPG located in Japan and you play as a Yakuza . This is probably one of the most underrated franchises of all time and it's the definition of a fun game , something you don't see that much anymore today.It's also the first game of the franchise chronologically. Make sure to check out some videos , play it and why not review it ? Keep doing your thing mack best game reviewer ever.

The first one was quite fun, for the first half-dozen hours. And then it cracked and showed it was all an illusion - and pretty much a waste of time. It just didn't matter what you did.

Doesn't the point system kind of ruin the suspense and mystery of you figuring out what to send? The first one, you'd have to read the situation and send an according team. Here, it seems you just send the required value?
You still do, for example if you think a negotiator might be required you should send one etc

London's a great place. It's one of my favourite night time social scenes, and I have hardly ever witnessed any aggression. If anything, it's usually some very drunk kids deciding to knock each other about for a bit.

eh, not my kind of game. Didn't like Xcom really at all, don't like reading much either. I like my indie games easy to play with little thought.
Wait, is this game actually finished? You mean it's complete and not still in early access? I didn't think that existed anymore. I'm so damn sick of everything being put out as a work in progress needing your feedback to tell them what's wrong with their creation. Then they update it over years, gradually getting it closer to what it is supposed to be and the game you paid for. I imagine every student studying game design has got at least 20 of these things out by the time they graduate since they were probably school projects.
I understand improving games over time, but there's a difference between making a good game better and making a skeleton of a game, that's little more than a concept, eventually into a full game. Maybe it's just me but this whole early access concept has just taken over as a trendy way to make money off a game before actually having a finished product. Nothing else in this world works like that. It just reeks of greed and laziness to me.
Sorry, this little rant wasn't at all relevant to this video or game but it's just a topic I think deserves to be confronted.

Having to micromanage a cop's life because he wants to go see a movie? You can already tell the game's not worth it if the producers looked at this and thought, "Yeah, this is a good, immersive aspect, cops ask for days off to watch movies and read books right?" Damn shame, too, I love the idea of the game to death and could easily see it being one of my favorites if the design team had any sort of passion
