Summary
It would be very easy to thumb this game down as I did not really enjoy it that much, it felt more like work than play. I did gain satisfaction selling my first few houses for a profit but the monotony of doing it all again in an even larger house was very unappealing.
However for someone with creative flair it's a totally different experience, the larger the house the better, the more houses the better, more work = more satisfaction. This is the reason I had to give it a thumb up, it's not the games fault I find it boring, it's simply due to the fact that I find all this decorating, planning and cleaning boring.
So my review tried very hard to get this across, if you like doing this sort of thing you will enjoy this game, despite the few bugs I encountered.
So basically the game is for women?

I feel like this game is good to play when you’re listening to a podcast, listening to podcast on its own can be boring just like playing this game on its own is boring but when you combine both you can find some enjoyment
This kind of 'tedious work games' have something relaxing in them. I like them but I do get bored of them pretty quickly.
They are the type of game where u can Smoke a bowl and just chill for a few hours

@@pirat87pl I did. I enjoyed it. I mean, it's not up there with playing video games, but it wasn't something I had issue with. There's other things I absolutely hate, like plumbing, though. ABS cutting, fitting, dangerous chemicals that need ventilation, fiber glass from the walls, cramped positions... Hate all of that.
You are super right about the artistic people thing. I personally love the game! It still has some major issues like the lack of interior, floors, walls. That u can‘t place windows or rebuild the entire house. It‘s really the lack of objects and eventually jobs. I would love to see options where people could add custom content like in the sims or make custom jobs for unlimited content. It‘s definately a good game but the gardening thing and lack of house customization plus the lack of objects is a bit disappointing.

That can be played in coop though, for better or for worse. It's more of a mess but also more fun if you like the people you're playing with.
Whenever I'm having a bad day, all I have to do is watch one of Mack's videos and my whole day turns around. Every video makes me laugh

I don't think im very good at things like this, but turning shitty into pretty is so satisfying. With anything. Old beat up junkyard car, abandoned building and etc
it is definitely worth a buy, especially cuz u can find it for only a few dollars in some places. there is hours of gameplay and so much to do, you can get so creative with it. you can tear down everything in a house and just build everything yourself. it’s a really calming and chill game, but also pretty exciting when you see this giant mansion you’re gonna get to tear down and rebuild! it’s an awesome game... definitely worth a buy
i guess it’s more of an artistic and creative game, rather than just a thrilling shooter like gta or call of duty. most people are saying it looks boring, but once you get into it and start doing stuff like ripping out walls and being able to rebuild and being able to buy stuff to make a nice house, it gets really fun. but i guess i just like it cuz i sometimes work with my dad doing similar things. i love taking a disgusting dirty house and spending time turning it into a beautiful modern home! definitely for more creative people i suppose. if you are into renovating houses tho, then this is totally worth a buy.

I love this game and this review! It's crazy how much this game has changed since 2018. It's definitely a game for the artistic and creative minds.

I enjoy games like this. Whether I have artistic tendencies is up for debate, but that isn't what I get out of them. Why I go back to them is that they're almost meditative. They keep the obnoxiously busy part of your brain (that's usually making plans, thinking things through, and racing around like mad) occupied with mundane tasks so that the rest of your brain can step up for a while, letting you get rid of all of the noise. It's got the same effect on your brain as coloring, or doing a jigsaw puzzle. They're also great to play while listening to music, a podcast, maybe an audiobook.
It puts it in the same category as any of the mechanic simulators, non-racing driving simulators, and other similar titles.
I like plenty of death and mayhem in my games, yes. Plenty of guns, swords, and destruction. But there are times when I also want to just relax, and games like this do the trick.
Wish any of the activities looked satisfying. Viscera cleanup detail made cleaning semi fun.
Haha, so this could be "The Sims: Behind the Scenes" Everytime you go on build mode to do your house up in the sims, THIS is what happens.
This is kinda like Viscera Cleanup Detail, without the redecorating part and with blood and corpses everywhere.

So essentially, it's Homes Under the Hammer: The Videogame.
This type of game can be strangely addictive.
Like those car mechanic type games, where you essentially have to take cars apart, repair, replace etc.
Its oddly fun.

This is more innovative if they develop a game like a Sims house builder or an Autocad game, many people will buy that kind of game.
Plot twist: the game is a program where you control a robot and get it to perform these tasks somewhere across the world so you're quite literally working for someone else as a "game."

If this game has life-simulator gameplay like SIMS, this game will get hundreds of GOTY.

Have to agree with your GF. My family has always been in home building and i have a huge interest in house flipping irl and would like to do it. Something about taking a dump of a house and knocking out some walls, adding some painting and decorating is so relaxing. I play a lot of racing sims and shooters but this is a nice change of pace when im listening to some podcasts and getting read for bed.
Glad you thumbed up this game because while its obviously not for everyone a lot of people do find enjoyment in it even tho it can feel like work. Getting yourself leveled up really helps to change the work feel of it all.

Well shit, might as well just tell it how it is. The developers of this game are brilliant. Instead of paying people to work their asses off, they figured out how to get people to pay them to work their asses off. Fuckin' genius!

I was in B&Q the other day and I spotted this couple buying wallpaper and shit for their house. The woman was in her element, comparing different colours, textures and patterns etc, really excited and keen about all the different possibilities and combinations etc. The bloke looked like he was working out how he was going to kill himself in the next 5 minutes...
This will be useful to teach young ladies how to tidy up for use in later life looking after their man.

To be fair, he is right. For what it is, it does its job really well.
I personally find it extremely satisfying to get a place in horrible conditions and make the best out of it, piece by piece, the progress can be seen and you can feel it.

Just got this game for Christmas. Repairing a vandalised wreck - yes easy because of visible, tangible progress. Making it look like anything other than the most utilitarian bedsit/office on earth - nope, can't do it.

This is basically what a level designer has to do some times to get a lvl back on track. cant do a full delete so you go through and delete the props and whatever else and all that shit is a chore. They turned it into a video game.....

Honestly, sounds like this would be way better (for its intended audience) if it was MORE complex. Cuz everything is too automatic for the people who would like this but too boring for people who would be bored by it.
Honestly, you don't need to be a very artistic person to enjoy this game. I know I am not but I still get a lot of enjoyment out of it. I usually play a lot of action packed and fast paced games, but sometimes, after a long day of work, sometimes it helps to just destress and completely unwind with this game. And there is something oddly satisfying about taking a complete shite house and cleaning/fixing it up and making it look good as new.
Also, and I know it probably came out after this video was released....but you can do the gardens. They released a Garden Flipper DLC that lets you clean up and do up the outside of your property also, with gardens, pools/ponds, and other landscaping decorations.
Also, the added Survivalist DLC added guns and what not when you set up homes with underground survival bunkers.
