love my yoke!! after a couple of weeks, I don't even noticed it anymore
Thanks for taking the time to make these video's Always interesting Cheers
Short answer: Yesssss.
Got a second hand Tesla Y with a yoke.
Should have looked into that little detail before. Turning sucks.
With multiple cars - would you have a yoke? I had one on my model X plaid but we also have a rivian and a model Y. It was awkward switching back and forth.
Recently getting a Tesla, and being a fan of Knight Rider back in the days as well, are the reason I am watching this video today 😁👍
Assuming you have a model with deleted indicator stalks on a yoke or normal steering wheel.
How easy is it to indicate when entering a roundabout, as on UK roads, taking the third exit with your yoke or wheel now upside down and having to indicate again with the buttons now the opposite way around.
Nice video. Did the yoke work as plug and play, or did you have to swap the harness and guts from OEM wheel?
Most installation videos show it like a plug and play but I see conflicting instructions on Hansshow’s site.
Great evaluation. Was always curious about the swap process.
Glad it was helpful!
I want the yoke but sure would like to get an OEM replacement.
The video reaffirmed my opinion, that the yoke works well on a Y and 3, because of the fast (high ratio) steering rack.
I don’t think it’s a clean one to one, not if you want to preserve the heated steering wheel function. Would you address or correct this for us in a video?
Love the yoke…. simply love it. Great video
Thanks 👍
I also curious about the yoke. Going to book a test drive with a Model X with a yoke!
Great Video and Yes not a Crazy complicated install. I want the Yoke!
Thanks for watching!
Why does the scroll wheel on the Hansshow Yoke look more silver than the Tesla steering wheel scroll wheel? Both should be metal now so the color should be the same. And why does Hansshow provide an airbag cover if you want the same OEM color/look? I means it seems like a waste and added expense to the purchase.
I think if you just swap the round wheel with yoke, the heating steering-wheel function will not work. We have to swap the chip from the original wheel to the yoke for the heating to work.
Very well done video! Subscribing. Appreciate your thoroughness, objectivity, and pace. I'm watching videos about the yoke to inform my next Tesla purchase, but this now has me considering installing this third party replacement on my 2022 MYP, had no idea that was even possible. So thank you!
Question: Now that you've used it for a few months (I assume?) how's it going? Liking better, worse, about the same?
Doh, never mind, just saw and watched your follow up video, thank you for openly and honestly posting that as well. You pretty much foreshadowed here what turned out to be the deal killers, it seems.
Other reviewers of the S and X yokes have commented that comfort steering mode provides easier control, was that your sense on your Y as well?
What is your take on the yokes on eBay ?
Looks a little harder than hitting that subscribe button. Would you think the local service center would do this, even for a fee? All that open space might be awesome whenever that Teslogic module gets here.
I bought the han show yolk. Mine is the carbon fiber version. I am not going to lie, I absolutely love it in my model three performance.
Does the steering wheel heat works ?
It has the cable for it. My car doesn’t have that function.
what was the status of the drawing for the two free chamberlain garage doors?
Drawing very soon.
The round one all the way for most of the reasons commented on the video!
Yes
The design of the steering wheel/airbag is very nice. However, in a Tesla is there a separate Auxiliary power supply that can be disconnected? The reason is; in ICE cars you are strongly advised to disconnect the battery so as to not accidentally deploy the air bag. The air bag has enough force to kill people and Honda had a recall on every Pilot, for certain model years, because the airbag in that vehicle had to be replaced because it did just that; killed people.
I can see the beauty in a yoke on a Model S or X but it seems a bit silly for a Model 3 or Y
Does the heating on the Yoke steering work as well?
It should. My car doesn’t have that function.
like almost all vidoes on the yoke the never show the poor fitment the steering wheel covers does once on @11.25
Not true, you have to switch out the control chip into the yoke. its not a clean one to one swap
There were shipping them this way for a time but they have assured me that they are no longer doing that and are shipping them complete.
I prefer round one.
I am a Tesla owner and own many other cars. See my channel. For me the yoke is ok got normal driving. For spirited driving or constant parking yes the yoke sucks. I have driven on the track and participles in the Ford Racing school. Can’t imagine doing that with a yoke. Thanks for the video.
I had a Model X 2020 that I traded in for a Model X 2022 specifically because I wanted the yoke. I love the yoke...it is so easy to use and I can see the front dash without issue. I can't see living without my X and its yoke.
Well, if you got a yoke third party wheel, that is not really the same thing. That way you can only analyze the form factor, but not, for example, the usability of the indicator buttons (no stalks in Model S/X 2023 and in Model 3 Highland). The problem with the yoke form factor: If you don't have steer-by-wire (which Model S/X don't have) you have too many rotations of the wheel from going from full left to full right (over 2 complete rotations). If you want to implement a yoke steering wheel, you have to have a steer-by-wire system where 90° left or right of the steering wheel in stand-still or at low speeds will get translated to full left/right (and of course: on higher speeds, lesser steering angles). This way, the yoke is pointless and dangerous in close-call situations. For example: If your car, god forbid, one day decides to go sideways (for example because their was oil on the street) you will have to steer like the devil was after you to get it under control. If you have a yoke in this situation, your chances getting out of that situation without a scratch is far lower than with a regular wheel (where it doesn't matter where you try to grip the ROUND wheel). I know this from personal experience doing a *LOT* of driver courses. Also look at 04:34 - the only way a smooth turn is achieved with a yoke (and a car without steer-by-wire) is to steer with you open palm. BUT: steering this way means you do not have a good, secure grip of the wheel through the turn. In case of an accident mid-turn (or an obstacle on the road you hit), it will send your front wheels flying and you won't have a chance to stop it, because the steering wheel slips through your open palms. So: A yoke without steer-by-wire is a very unsecure steering option.
+1. CT got steering-by-wire and a yoke like one. Yes it adjusts steering degrees
@@stonebat yeah, sae that too. CT fixes two problems: Steer by wire makes the indicator buttons bearable, nose camera "fixes" Tesla Vision for parkkng. Sadly this wont help all Model 3/X owners who don't have these hardware additions. Without the nose cam my MX constantly misjudges obstacles by several feet
Now try it with no stalks…I hear that part sucks with turn signals.
I would if I could.
Using a torque wrench to break a bolt loose messes up the calibration the point where you can no longer depend on the reading accuracy. A torque wrench is a tightening tool. It is a very sensitive and precise tightening tool, and should never been used to loosen bolts.
Yea. Didn’t have the right tool at the right time.
ill never understand companies forcing a decision on people instead of giving options.
Choices are good.
Since Tesla went back to a normal steering while, i'd say the Yoke sucks
When did they go back? I don’t have a yoke in mine there are more cons than pros.
The yoke is a joke😃
