  • Recent statistics show that 34% of home break-ins occur through the front entry door; 22% were through the back door. As a result, securing your home by reinforcing your entry doors should be a top priority.
In this video, I'll show you a simple and inexpensive kit that you can buy to reinforce the doors in your home.

You did a good job; I would have liked to have seen the installation of the bolt/latch covers. As for the detractors below, if oceans and space can be overcome, so can any barrier. Given enough time, the whole point is to require the "bad guys" to decide it is not worth it.

i installed one of these on my rear door. The door has a sidelight and i purchased the kit for a door with sidelight. I wasnt able to install hinge shield as it offsets the door and it wont close correctly. Other than that the kit worked great

Seems to me that the door could still be kicked in even with that kit installed. The door jamb has been reinforced with hinge plates and a long striker plate, that would pretty much take care of the jamb but the door it's self is still weak especially at the door knob and dead bolt area. Those little striker plates that come in the kit will not do much because there is very little wood/strength in that area because of all the wood that has been cut and drilled out to make way for the door knob and plunger and the dead bolt and plunger. There needs to be a large wrap around plate in that area that covers a lot of that area so the door knob and dead bolt can't break out of the wood. I have seen the door it's self break out in that area before. Also the hinges can be ripped through the wood of the door.

Like most security measures, if someone really wants to get in, they will. However, it will be much harder and take longer.

Good video, but this kit is overdone.
The hinge covers the weak point is the door, not the jamb. Put in 3" screws and call it a day on that
The bolt/latch cover have so little wrap around, I can't see how they'd be effective, beyond binding up your door (maybe closing the gap for a screwdriver?)
The jamb protector does look nice tho and would be effective at break ins.
Maybe I missed something on the other items. I do appreciate the video

Sorry for the late response. The door does get a bit tighter after installing, but still operates properly. However, if you don’t start out with at least 1/8” clearance between the door slab and jam, you will experience interference issues. I had just over 1/8” clearance before starting.
