    Also good to go to the other stream before raiding to make sure they are going to stay online. A few times now that I've gone to raid a friend only for them to also be ending and so my raid was just forwarded to another raid! Which is great, but I usually don't know the new streamer, haha.
    But also YES to raiding people without telling them you stream ahead of time. I did that once to someone I had even been subbed to for a few months and they were like "omg I didn't know you streamed!?" I only added like 7 people to their stream, but when you're small that's a lot! And new exposure is always great!

    Great tips!
    I absolutely love that you point out how to redirect the conversation once you finally raid, because so many people end up raiding and wanting that shoutout but dont realize people won't actually go to their channel from that shoutout unless they interact with the streamer and chat a little and let people get to know them.

    Last night I sent a raid for the first time and I had such trouble with it, because I didn’t realize I shouldn’t put the @ sign lol. The streamer did appreciate it though and they said it was their first time being raided. It made me feel really good to be able to help in a small way. Thank you so much for all your helpful videos. You’ve really helped me a lot 💙

    This was an absolutely incredible guide and as a brand new streamer i can't thank you enough! I really appreciate the more business oriented approach you gave this, like, obviously it is for fun and we're all playing video games and spamming emotes and acting like children, but at the same time, raiding is a networking strategy, and i honestly had never thought of it that way. Also that you seem to have really gone out of your way to distinguish what parts of this are more rules and what parts are just good practice or the typical polite thing to do. The whole idea of mixing between "raiding up" and "raiding down" was really interesting, especially the point of how you really should raid no matter how small your stream is. Also the subtle point of hanging out in communities with the ultimate goal of getting raided while at the same time not constantly shouting that you're a streamer. I know I'm just praising the entire video at this point but this just was so well done and i'm so glad I found it! Def gonna be checking out your streams now for sure!

    Thanks for the video!! The first raid I received span me out a bit but it taught me the importance of raiding at the end of streams. I try to make sure I set time aside for raiding at the end of streams now. Host and ghost is a great line though - I tend to think of raids as passing the torch on so I try not to dominate the raided stream.

    I love raiding because I love introducing my Chat to other cool streamers with fun/helpful/engaging Communities. I seldom raid channels I don't know, due to a few not-so-great experiences that my raiders did *not* appreciate, but I *do* take the time to do a little peak-and-ponder before bringing my Community to new channels (especially if the channel vibe/rating varies from mine). I love doing an occasional raid of a lower-viewer streamer because it makes their day and usually improves the interaction of their community games, which is what I concentrate on. I have been known to drop bits or a random sub occasionally, if I can tell the streamer is having a bad day or challenging stream. The best feeling is when my goodwill is infectious and a Hype Train is triggered‼️🥰

    Hello! I just found your channel and I think you give great information for us newbies :) It's obvious you are spending a lot of time and effort to prepare and summarize everything to make it clear but also complete. It's really appreciated! A comment on "raiding up". I'm just starting out and I've had maybe 2-3 viewers, sometimes I feel raiding someone with a higher viewer count can almost feel like a self-plug on their bigger community and not like a "legitimate" raid for them. I mean if we are talking about 2 viewers raiding a channel with 100+ viewers. I guess I need to go and check out a lot of channels to have more options, thanks for the tip!

    What a great video, so informative. I really appreciate you showing the clip from one of your streams' incoming raids.
    A lot of us implemented various safety tools that may not be very raid friendly, like verification & follower only, which tools do you feel are ok to disable now that things seem to have settled down? I'm really glad you addressed raid videos although I'm not a fan of them, (I think they are better for breaks), I appreciate hearing your thoughts on them. I really prefer raiding channels of a similar size to mine & whom I already know, but often feel as if I'm raiding the same people over & over again. I've made a conscious effort to try to limit how many time a month I raid those channels, but sometimes that means skipping a raid. I have raided some very large streams, but only once in awhile when they are doing a fundraiser or something special.

    Thanks for making another helpful video! I always struggle on how to be super welcoming to raids but not taking my current viewers out of the content I'm making and being too disruptive of the stream. I like the idea of trying to loop the conversation from the new raiders into what was happening before they entered the stream! Some nights I get way more raids then others and I need to take into account of how much time I spend away from the actual content vs being chatty. I love meeting new peeps though and have met some of my closest friends on twitch through raids so I'm very careful about how I give and receive them, they are so so important!

      @@HeyShadyLady What do you think about watching language when first streaming. What's your take on language?

    • @HeyShadyLady
      @HeyShadyLady  3 роки тому +1

      @@diddikong700 this really depends on how true to yourself you want to remain!! When I first started streaming I was very vulgar (f-bombs everywhere, cussing almost every other sentence) I still cuss occasionally in my streams, though, but I've greatly reduced and changed my cussing to "cuter" words (like what the heck instead of what the fuck).. For my youtube videos I've limited cussing to the extreme because it helps with monetization and shareability.
      Over the last 2 years or so I started reducing the amount of cussing I did because I noticed that videos or clips I was cussing in got shared a lot less than ones without cuss words. In general "family friendly" content is much more share-able. Also brands won't reshare my clips if I cuss in them, so it reduced my ability to network well with game companies.
      All that being said - stay true to yourself. There are plenty of vulgar streams that don't give a fuck lmaoo and do just fine! There's an audience for vulgar content, and there are brands that love working with vulgar content as well. So it all depends on what you want your audience to be, what feels natural for you, and what you enjoy creating!

    26:20 I’m a small streamer so I don’t get many raids but when I do I typically say something along the lines of “thank you so much for the raid I hope you had a great stream!”

    I am suuuper tiny and have been too scared to raid just yet. Your video has helped a ton though, and now I feel like I know a little more about it??? So Thank you! ^^

    I found getting a raid was disruptive to my stream and vibes with viewers who chose to check me out, stick around for a while and chat, which is a big thing as a new streamer - getting people to come in organically. Didn't enjoy the experience at all and disabled it on my 3rd stream. Just another perspective - I'm sure it can help growth, but if you don't want to do raids for whatever reason then there's other options. This is a great video though :)

    This is an amazing and thorough review of HOW to raid and be raided! As a new streamer who didn’t even know what raiding was until I was raided, this was invaluable! Thank you!
    Also, I saw you doing a collab with Gael Level and when your beautiful face popped up, I knew I could trust your video. Thank you again!

    As someone who has spent time as both the streamer and a viewer there are a few guidelines to have a raid be emotionally satisfying for you as a streamer in 2023. Always raid to someone with the same or less viewers. If you hit at 80 viewer show with 3 viewers your raid just looks like you're fishing for shoutouts in big streams. As a viewer it would be to raid someone playing the same game as you. Nothing kills the vibe like getting dumped from Battlefield into Stardew Valley.

      @@HeyShadyLady as a newbie streamer (breltron) there are a few things that are probably super simple but I couldn't find a good video online or would be nice in 1 video. Like when you are about to go live. How to do a sound check (I'm using obs), how to label your stream to make sure you are streaming under the right title (mine keeps reverting to my last stream and wrong game), short cuts to your obs transitons. Basically noob content for streaming. It would be really helpful as you are so easy to watch 🧡 all the best

    Been streaming less than a month, and got my first raid yesterday. It was from a streamer I'd been interacting with for a while, and it did indeed give me my highest viewers ever lol. 18 viewers dropped in on my usually 2 viewers max! I did get a little overwhelmed :) but it was a wonderful feeling.

    "i just rlly think that everyone should be raiding"
    me with my 3 viewers who wants to raid but doesnt have enough viewers: :'(
    edit: just got to the part where u say dw abt raiding with a small view count :') 3 might still be too small but is all okay

    • @HeyShadyLady
      @HeyShadyLady  3 роки тому +33

      3 viewers is still enough to raid with!! at "small" numbers like that i'd recommend raiding other people with about the same average view count as you -- if you're raiding with 3 people, raid another "small" streamer who has 3-5 viewers, you're basically doubling their view count!

    is there any tips that people might not think about when it comes to protecting themselves virtually if you plan on trying to become / are a content creator?
