- Long bow made of wood and glass fiber tape.
However, the power is still weak and there are many things to be improved, so I will refine it.
Material used in the video

Get a propper bowstring wtf. Your bow is fine if you get a good bow string you will have more power
Use sinew on the back
What kind of wood were you using? Generally you want to have a hard wood like ash or elm. With a backing like you did here even oak or beech will work ok. Also it will help to start with a more thick piece of wood so you have more error margin while tillering.
I've made lots of things out of wood which also include Bows. I have a number of power tools to help the process. However looking at your bow and your method very very well done using the absolute minimal tools. In a Survival situation you'll get food with your skills. WELL DONE.
Your thinking and skills is very good. It is a nice bow and something to be proud of. Congratulations on a project well done. If you want a more powerful bow here is what I know.
1. Use a hardwood. Cypress, if like what grows in swamps in the U.S, will become hard with age. Hardwood is preferred.
2. Allign the grain to the curvature of the bow. If buying at retailer select a grain pattern accordingly.
3. Laminate thin strips to make up the limbs to add strength.
4. Use your tensioner jig to make a thinner and stronger bowstring. 'Serve' it with a dacron string.
5. Using a fiberglass resin with the appropriate mesh fabric will add strength and rigidity. What you used was a help but it is intended for house wall finishing with gypsum wallboard.
You did a fantastic job with what you had to work with. Thanks for making the video.
Thank you for your good advice.
Your knowledge is wonderful.
I will try them in the future.
Use an epoxy glue
Sir
Thank you for your video
Very well done and very clear and to the point
Your approach was simple and very clear
Building a Bow with so very little equipment
A block plane, a rasp a small hand saw and a simple utility knife , drywall fiberglass tape some wood glue and a C clamp
Do not pay attention to all the negative comments that have been posted those people would find fault with the best makers they must really feel they have to put anything good down so they feel good about them self’s
So So sad
Keep up the good work and keep on learning
It’s the same with me
great master, detailed and detailed. I'm proud of the master's skills
I admire crafters like you
Get buffalo horn and affix it to the innermost bow, just outside the hand grip, about 10" on either side. Use flexible resin to bond it and wind sinew or hemp around those sections then coat them with more resin. Let dry/cure for 72 hours. That will double the draw weight.
Has given me ideas especially during lockdown here in Victoria, Australia
Over a hoax
Very good work using the only materials available. This is a great survival bow.
a survival bow is made with materials harvested same day, often used while wet to make a fairly weak bow. Very nice primative bow tho i 100% agree
You were improved time by time
Fine craftsmanship bro!
Thx for video lesson 👍
hello a very interesting job I would like to try it too, I have a question what kind of wood did you use?
Nice piece of 1/4 sawn.
I think he should now focus on mastering Archery
Ok so that was cool. Did you make the arrows as well?
A 1X2 yellow pine would have not been my first choice, but an excellent build video.
Nice chillout movie 😀
Interesting a possible quick fix sinew on the back of the bow just a thought. Good luck glad I found your channel
Thanks!
I agree when dealing with softer wood a good backing material will increase pull. a quick google research on cable backed bows will give you an idea. That method was popular among the inuit tribes. You could also look up penobscot or wabanaki bow as another possible solution.
you need to make a bow with pulleys and with rubber strings that's another level.
That Will be bery nice 👌
Ok
@@ismcraft3396 dont do this.....
Perfect bro 👍👍 but sick
Muito bom gostei parabéns
Ver nice work...I enjoyed watching your video and I will try to make a bow like this ❤
Good skill
I'd love to make a bow as good as that. I'd be proud to.
Use a band saw.bow made for distance ...
Don't take any notice of the negative comments, good video and I learnt a lot and sure you did to.
Great
What kind of wood did you use for the bow ?? Btw i like it very nice
Love the process. Great stuff, but you couldn't whipe the glue before it dried? Talk about drama
Lol.
Exactly what I was thinking.
It’s wipe not whipe where the hell did you get an H from
@@shennung5653 lol. No kidding
Honey! You sure did waste a lot of time carving off glue that you could have removed while it was wet?? Just wondering?? Fun build! Nice job😁
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Excuse me friend. What wood do you use to make the bow, what is it called?
Key to successful board bow is board selection. Key to board selection is understanding wood grain and understanding what constitutes "good" grain pattern. This board is questionable, at best. See how grain runs off or comes onto board edges? Count the # of times. It is excessive. No backing, except another good board or maybe sinew, or strip of fiberglass (NOT fiberglass drywall tape) is going to assure success. Key to successful board bow is board selection. Good luck.
Nice 👌👌
Thanks
Which will be better a bow from bamboo or from a wood
Nice craft. You making it better and better. Congrats. 👍 To make it stronger, you will need to use Glass fiber tape, double passed, with epoxy resin. You can make them more thin too, with the same powerful.
Thank you for watching.
And thank you for your good advice!
Esse é muito mais confiável.
SALVE DO BRASIL
Salve .
Good effort 👍. You need a string not a rope 😉....and I very much doubt that ' fibreglass tape' works here. I am a few bows old and haven't made any over 20#...which is quite ok for fun shooting... good luck
Just wondering why? You didn't sandwich the tape between two bits of pine?? ..nice job well-done!
The Fiberglass tape doesn't provide enough tensile stiffness. There aren't enough longitudinal fibers. There are some boatbuilding products(roving) that would work well and provide better stiffness.
I remember reading, as a child, about an Indian who made a bow using sinew as a backing on a cedar bow. Cedar has excellent compressive strength and would work better, though the Spruce is pretty good.
Cedar is notoriously soft. You generally want to use a whitewood or a hardwood, such as osage or oak.
I shall watch your career with great interest.
Thank you.
I see you everywhere
Nice work 🙋 but can you tell me please how many its range?
Hello, congratulations is very good, would you give me the exact measurements and the type of wood
Thank you for watching.
sorry,I don't have a measuring instrument.
The wood is called Japanese cypress, which lives in Asia.
Con qué madera la ha hecho?
Make the wood more thinner than the wood near the handle
Thank you for your advice.
I think the bow is power full
Gracias.
Is that the kakuri Block plane?
Waaaaw
The new english warbow? Der Tramp den keiner fängt.!
What wood did you use?
It is a tree called cypress that lives in Asia.
to make it power full use oak woof because it is so flaxibal and strong
Engish
Yew wood would have been the traditional material used. The old saying being "you want to pull it one way, the wood wants to pull yew the other".
Oak Woof, 🐶🐕, how's about dog woof?
Looks like pine or cedar that you used, which arent very good wood types for a bow. its well built tho so if u want to add power i would recommend a better bow string and definitely add a couple layers for backing. if possible i would peel the layer you already have have off, and add bamboo instead. it also looks like your draw length is crippled so you might want to tiller the fades a bit more and taper off the tips of the limbs width wise. im an amateur bowyer so i dont have the most seasoned eyes, but thats my 2 cents
¿que madera utiliza en em video? Saludos de chile 👍👍
Kapoo me recomendaron tu vídeo
Hi sime nice work done here...pleas find your stile to soot it...rigth now it looks like you use the south america arow and an norhamerican flat bow and shooting it asia stile???mongolian thump ring??to stop the sting hitting your hand ..make it a higher "stand" meaning shorten the sting by tweesting it ...make the arows schorter to your draw length..but this is just my opinion...have fun..
Is pine wood?
No too soft, use red oak, hickory, yellow birtch
How wood?
But what type of wood did you used... You have to say it, every type of wood is different
Japanese cypress
You could ask kammer ammones for tips
Try pulling back more im not sure if you normally do but in that first clip you didn't pull back far enough
How long is the wood
This bow is about 1500 millimeters long.
🇧🇷👍🏻
Nice
Thank you for watching
I don't think so

Need to work on your tillering and use actual staves
What kind of wood?
Japanese Cypress
@@mrhazeyt1013 Thank you. I think your extraordinary thick bow (laterally) would increase the effect of the archers paradox. Have you filmed the arrow in slow motion?
@@Eigil_Skovgaard Welcome
@@mrhazeyt1013 Oh, I got the impression that the answer was from the bow and video maker, Ism Craft. Maybe he don't understand the question.

It is not clear the pace
use 2 rolls fiberglass tape that give it more power and narrow the tips down
so the tillering process that you went through was too short. the wood is too stiff and you need to make the limbs more flexible. if you want to also add more power to it you can make it a recurve or back it with sinew, bamboo, etc, after making the limbs more flexible
Woodglut comes with very useful plans with all the details you need.
English longbow decimated the french knights b4 they even got close....high tech ..battle of Agincourt 25/10/1415..
Do you live far
