It's really good to see you having fun in your bow making adventure. Using a power lam will help with the handle lifting,I use purple heart more for the color than anything else. Get video my friend
Great build 👍🏼 Power lam will definitely help stiffen it up from bending in handle area. If you’re using hickory on the 80# I’d use 2” wide hickory and heat treat it help it from string follow. Nice work
Thank you for sharing your bow making journey. I know it takes a lot of extra effort to create these videos and you do a great job! I am attempting to make board bows (as a starting point to gain experience). With board bows especially, grain is crucial to making a successful bow. Do you find grain being as critical when making a laminated bow, especially with fiberglass back and belly?
You know I haven't tried to make a fiberglass laminated bow out of anything that I would not consider making into a board bow. With my couple of years of experience I would stick close to a good straight grain piece of hard wood for any bow build. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Your shooting form is impressive! The handle might have tried to pop off because the hickory in that section has pretty much the same thickness as the rest of the limb, so it tries to bend... next time try to have that section a bit thicker then the rest, this should prevent that problem 😉
Your handles are popping off because you've got too much bend near the handle. Arc of circle tiller doesn't mean each limb is bending around a circle. Reference the Traditional Bowyers Bible in the section on bow design. You'll probably find you'll have a more efficient bow if you modify the tiller. Also, check the section on "mass principle." A bow that narrow won't handle an 80lb draw like a slightly wider bow would.
No hate but you shot the bow 3 under but said it’s perfect for split finger, did you mean it’s perfect for 3 under, just wondering cause I’m going to build your bow
No worries, I appreciate your time and questions. thanks for watching. I originally made this bow for someone who shoots split finger. That is why I made the bow asymmetrical. The bow weight didn’t come out the way I wanted (I was shooting for 80#) but the bow still shoots really good, even with 3 under. I did notice though that the bow tuned with a high nock when shooting 3 under, should have mentioned that in the video. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to communicate your observation. Good luck on your build and have fun. Let me know how it all turns out.
A my friend another absolutely fantastic build! Man It sure is a great shooter 👍🏼👊🏼
God Bless Brother.

Hey thanks for the council I’ll look that book up.
Sweet bow! Super quiet, do you buy your bamboo online.
Hey thank you! and I do get the bamboo online. google search for Kustom King archery, 3 Rivers, and/or bingham projects you can find some there.

I would recommend Woodglut to every beginner and not only.
Right on I like to use wood glue too
