I was surprised by how similar the BMW i5/5-series and the i7/7-series are now. The interior except for some of the materials are almost identical. Should BMW spice up the i5/5-series and inject more sport into the model without a needing to go with a M badge, or do you dig its laid-back cruiser persona?

Thank you, I’m glad you like it! The i5 was a really nice place to be. What do you think about the BMW i5 vs the Mercedes EQE?

amazing car. I ordered it at the start of April and am looking forward to September/October when it arrives. I'm coming from an X3 diesel and am delighted with the quietness and handling. The X3 is a great SUV, but in my opinion a sedan is unbeatable in terms of pure driving characteristics and pleasure.
I really loved your video, these POV videos shorten the waiting time because for a few minutes I can sit behind the wheel of my dream car.

Great choice and I couldn't agree more, a sedan is a better choice for a more engaging and sporting drive. I'm curious how you feel about the 5-Series/i5 moving more towards being a smaller 7-Series/i7 over more of a larger 3-Series/i4 like it has traditionally. I'd also love to hear what specs you ordered yours in.
Thank you for the kind comment, let me know if there is anything you'd like to see on POV Motoring. Different driving situations etc.

@@POVMotoring That's a good question... Overall, I think it's the right direction because of the size. I got the i5 xDrive40, so that's gonna be over 2.4 tons (more than 5300lbs) and even though the battery is placed low, you can't fight physics. I bought the i5 because I wanted a car that lasts and could also be used as a family car in the future (that's why the i4 wasn't an option) and I think many buyers of the i5 think the same. A family car can (and should?) be fun to drive but comfort must, in my opinion, be prioritized which leads me to the conclusion that it was the right step. Additionally, EV are by definition sportier than an equivalent ICU car, therefore the i5 could have been too sporty (for a comfortable family sedan) if they didn't focus as much on the comfort.
I also have to say, most people exaggerate on the needs of having a sporty car, in my opinion. They always talk about M cars and who has more HP and torque and the list goes on. Truth be told, 99/100 times we sit in the car to drive to work and back or get groceries. Who even (besides very few enthusiasts who will never be satisfied with a car a manufacturer produces anyways) goes to the track which such a car. I personally would never. And the i5 is plenty enough for a sporty cross country drive or a curvy mountain road.
Regarding my specs: I live in Switzerland and am lucky enough to be able to configure my car as I want. There are - opposed to the US - no large predetermined packages. I really could order a custom car. I love this so much. It'll be nearly fully loaded, seat ventilation, crafted clarity, all driving assistance systems, parking assistance plus (not professional, I don't need a car to park from the app), veganza fake leather (prefer it over leather due to its softness and not killing as much animals), M Sport design with the blue M brakes and illuminated iconic glow kidney grill, 20 inch aero wheels 939, B&W sound system, fully electric comfort seats, heated seats front and back and heated steering wheel and rear axle steering without the anti-roll stabilization. Color is Sophistogray with aluminium door frames (no gloss black for a more classy look)
I couldn't be happier with the car I bought. It's the first car that I ever bought. I inherited the X3 from my father who passed away two years ago. I truly feel blessed to be able to be in a position where I can buy such a beautiful car and call it mine in a few months

@@mikes.1512 Oh wow I'm jealous that you can configure the car however you want and that you live in Switzerland in general haha. It sounds like you knew exactly what you wanted and it's refreshing that you weren't seeking out the most high-performance sedan you could get your hands on, instead you got what you needed. Love the spec and your reasoning for choosing it. More i5 content coming soon so be on the lookout for that.

@@POVMotoring Switzerland really is a beautiful place to live! I love it here, I hope you get to see it one day. I truly love this country, despite the fact that the Swiss people may not be the most open minded, welcoming and warmly of all at the beginning but after a bit they do open up😂
Looking forward to more i5 content, I’ll happily subscribe. Did you have any experiences with it in tight spaces like cities or smaller parking garages? Coming from the X3 that’s the only thing I’m not looking forward to… it’s more than a foot longer

@@mikes.1512 We just crossed Japan off our bucket list so now visiting Switzerland is at the top of the list.
As far as turing goes this one was spec'd with rear steer so it was really nimble in tight spaces however rear steer doesn't eliminate sheet metal. It's certainly no 7-Series/i7 and didn't feel massive.
