Most people misunderstood why it's named the Silver Slider. The nickname actually has nothing to do with the Lagombi's penchant for sledding. It's called the Silver Slider because the Tigrex makes a quick snack of it, as if going to White Castle.
Normal Somnacanth can also be encountered in the Flooded Forest, maybe they're migratory while the Aurora Somnacanth stay in the Frost Islands year round
i remember hearing that Goss Harag, due to using tools, might actually be 1 of the smartest Fanged Beasts out there also the casual singing from Somnicanth is most likely communication with other Sominicanths, think of it like how birds sing to communicate, getting a good grasp on others locations and what gender the other singer is
@@oeeo6thealatreon118 the fact that he pointed out the hunters that fought a mountain dragon were terrified and lost all will to fight against him was great.
Goss harag is a fuckin UNIT. I first encountered this fucking top G hunting a zhezu and he tried to haymaker me a couple times. I thought 'this guy is fuckin clenching his fist, dang he serious' and me and my buddy decided to hunt him next. Fast forward to next hunt. This haymaker throwing top G got enraged, and imagine my surprise when he glided through the air, ground and pound shockwaved at us, then started firing off mouth beams before growing a sword on his arm and fighting us in martial combat. Halfway through the hunt my buddy asked 'what could he have that's cooler than an ice sword?' And then Goss harag revealed to us he specs in dual wielding and drew his second blade. 10/10. One of the coolest monsters in the game for sure
Finally, an episode on my favourite map in Rise. I really liked the usual intro in previous, but going for a more narrative structure with the notes worked for this one. SomnacanthStansRiseUp/10
The fact that Khezu whelps can be found in the shed skin of a Kushala Daora could imply that some stronger, or just bolder members of the species will attempt to use the elder dragon as an incubator, though it's likely that the cave wyvern will die in the process due to a difference in strength. One theory when it comes to Goss Harag on the other hand, it's species bore witness to how humans fought in the times before and during the great dragon war, and realized 'yeah, that actually might be effective for hunting' hence why they form blades and other things on their arms. A taught process rather than instinctive.
Pay raise for my bro the hunter. I'm really digging this series, and really loved your take on the Frost Islands. I'm looking forward to how you continue to weave the hidden scrolls into the other ecologies! They really suit Rise's more mythic/legend focus for its new species.
Theory on the monsters getting more aggressive is possibly caused by the death of the mountain dragon. No doubt it's an elder and when they die they release massive amounts of bioenergy into the area and it's very possible those monsters were coming there to not only feast on the dead elder but also absorb the bioenergy potentially becoming tempered which makes monsters stronger and more aggressive.
Grounding is actually what causes you to get shocked from electricity, if you're not grounded you can touch electrical wires and not be shocked. Voltage is the difference in potential, ground being 0. Perhaps grounding himself causes the electricity to flow?
I started playing rise about 2 months ago and really got into it. Your videos on world's ecology were phenomenal and I was really happy to see that you are making them about rise aswell, they hit the mark like always.
16:47 imagine a khazu welp that has to deal with being in a Deviljho.... Who would die first? What happens with a welp if it outlives the Jho? Does it become a subspecies that has been mutated by the dragon energy? Or maybe the welp was a subspecies of khazu to begin with... Ones that actually target monsters like the Jho, ones with a psychotic appetite... So that the young spawned from those beasts are infused with dragon energy? :) Idk, I just been thinking about new ideas for a khazu subspecies. The only other idea I got is a jungle/Forest dwelling khazu that has taken its stretchiness to a new level, attaching it tail to the ground, walking back a distance, to then have it's tail fling itself forward, using this to abush pray. I call it the spotted khazu, it also uses poison instead of electricity to take down targets
Anyone else notice that a lot of the Monsters in this region focus on sounds? From the singing of Somnacanths, the roars of the Tigrex, and the sensitivity to noise from Labogami. Maybe it's got to do with the.... General quiet of cold regions and snow. Good watch btw. And I will say Goss Harag is probably the scariest of the Monsters.
This place is even more dangerous than the hoar frost to reach. That place is just really cold, and filled with ice based monsters the frost islands it’s like a living nightmare with a hidden mystery.
This is amazing! I just finished your 5 hour MHW one and I’m so so so impressed (as a zoologist I super appreciated the van der waals shoutout in one of your episodes). I dont play MH but your content is super inspiring for my dnd games and stuff. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I cant wait to see your future episodes!
I wanted to tell you that I love your channel and your MH lore videos as someone who got into MH this month w Rise. The overall world building and charm of this game is amazing. I love just how much story there is to uncover and learn about all the the characters, monsters and areas. Anyway I'll stop rambling, thanks for making these videos for us all lol.
All these details I only begin to understand when we're finally fighting them again as possessed things. It was actually a good move from capcom to suddenly make them capable of hitting me. Otherwise I would always just brush past them until I get to the rare wyverns and elder dragons
Just curious. What if the monster the crashed ship did battle with, was one of those big ass monsters with the shell you see in the distance, that you can emote at? I mean, it looks enormous from a distance and I can only imagine how big it is in person.
Excellent video! I always love seeing these. I've also got some notes to share, the khezu have teeth on the inside of their tails. In stories, if you pan the camera over to the tail, you can see teeth lining the inside, as if it's a second mouth!
Oceaniz talking about the Lagombi’s weakness to Tigrex roars and here I am thinking “Silver Slider? More like silver platter hehehe”
Most people misunderstood why it's named the Silver Slider. The nickname actually has nothing to do with the Lagombi's penchant for sledding. It's called the Silver Slider because the Tigrex makes a quick snack of it, as if going to White Castle.
I always find it both weird and funny that Somnacanth, a species native to the Frost Islands, got a subspecies that was 'Somnacanth but colder'
Aurora is technically terrestrial also.
@@marcusaaronliaogo9158 I suppose, but it always came off as odd to me
Rakna kadaki getting a subspecies that is just rakna kadaki but hotter

Impressive work as always. I'm looking forward to seeing videos on the Flooded Forest and Sandy Plains.
Oh I see you with the Okami music, cave of Nagi if my memory serves. It's a nice touch and went well with this frosty landscape, good choice

The best channel for MH , can't wait for the next one 🔥
I love these documentary style series!! But I was hoping you'll mention the elusive Giant Monksnail from the Frost Islands.

This reminds me of a video called "Fear of Cold" from Jacob Geller both having same vision on how humains face the cold winter
Love Jacob, wish I was that good lol

I'm pretty sure the skull in the frost islands is a Zorah skull, it matches the shape and size perfectly
I wish we got more on the thunder trade off hypothesis especially with creatures like Kezu
Goss Harag is a named I made: Yeti of the Frost Islands.
Hay Oceaniz you should do more magic systems ( sense you only have 5 right now) like the ones in one piece

Now i wanna leaf through the bento list in MHFZ to see if there's anything Khezu related

It's a Zora magdaros skull

Yep! All of the last five tracks used are from Okami. The one at that time stamp specifically is the theme of Wep’keer
