I was LITERALLY just thinking "I wonder if he's gonna do a video on the Guiding Lands cuz there's a few monsters that only show up there" and lo and behold. Excellent timing and excellent work
Love that you've covered the guiding lands but I'm still holding out hope for a kulth taroth, caverns of elderado episode, and can't wait for the black dragons and the safi jiva to be covered aswell
@MyNameIsGabe no. They really don't. A Scarred Yian Garuga is just one that has been honed by countless fights with Hunters and other monsters. You're obviously not that well-versed on the history of monsters, and nobody appreciates you masquerading as someone else for attention.
I love the mention of the Moly’s near the beginning. The idea that they formed most of the guiding lands is such a funny one and although it took a while, I loved looking for all the unique ones.
The Savage Deviljho is really sad. I think another channel (Unnatural History Museum?) put forth the hypothesis that the entire Deviljho lineage is a relic of an age long gone, often inbred and genetically-bottlenecked, and the Savage deviljho is one that has sadly succumbed to its failing body and unstable mutations. While it's often viewed as the eater of entire ecosystems, how much of that is just humanity seeing something and exaggerating it? Instead, it's just a beast out of time, trying to not go quietly into the night. But I guess Capcom will keep putting it in games because lol angry tooth pickle go brrrr
That's the thing with these big corporations they make amazing things but the meaning of amazing thing they made flew away over their heads. I think it's ok to feel emotional for fictional characters even Jho
The normal deviljho is already viewed as the eater of ecosystems without any debilitating dragon energy overload lmfao. The normal version of the species already takes up too much energy by existing to not wander looking for food every waking moment. I don’t see why the more powerful one would be any different.
@sekiro_the_one-armed_wolf I mean, is it really the "eater of ecosystems" or is that just the Guild taking a few examples that are unable to hunt or scavenge anywhere else? The monsters of monster hunter are less monster and more animal, just really big animals that can occasionally do weird stuff like breathe fire. Sure a deviljho might be extremely ravenous, but it's also a nomadic Scavenger, which means it had to travel without food for some time, which would be deadly for something with a hyperactive metabolism. If anything, Deviljho is more like a giant, inbred Carnivore than an actual "monster". Think of the amount of superstitions we have about animals in our own world- many of which are called "monsters" or "dragons"- that are incorrect, mythologized because of our anthropocentric viewpoint. It isn't evil, it's just an animal (that's not to say it's harmless, but rather that attributing traits to maliciousness is just wrong).
Man this series has been phenomenal. I've been hoping Monster Hunter World would get this kind of detailed, comprehensive and beautiful treatment. Can't wait for Fatalis. Just wanted to say you made this MH nerds dream come true.
Watching Yian Garuga do its tail slam reminds me so much of the animation for Malzeno's tail stab. I think we might get World's iteration of Garuga in a later update for Sunbreak.
The Guiding Lands had some of my favorite monsters in Iceborne. (Those being Yian Garuga, Scarred Yian Garuga, Raging Brachydios, Rajang, and Brute Tigrex.)
@@statesminds Lol I noticed he didn't say anything. I really liked Scarred Yian Garuga. Probably my favorite out of the 4 level 6 unlockables because it was an interesting concept.
Not exactly, remember zorah magdaros? Well after we forced him to change his course, he went out into the ocean(he at one point let out a burst of energy near the elders recess i think) he then let out all of his energy and the guiding lands was created because of zorah's energy and managed to form every single biome,(i don't know exactly how the energy made every single one of the biomes in the guiding lands, maybe because zorah was in/near those biomes at one point, even the hoarfrost reach.maybe zorah was near the hoarfrost at one point as well)and in certain areas, you can see zorah's skeleton.
Xeno'jiiva, Kulve Taroth, Shara Ishvalda, Safi'jiiva, Alatreon, Fatalis, and Scared Yain Garuga are the monsters you missed, I was wondering when you were to make those videos if you'd make them.
If you ever plan to do videos like this for Monster Hunter Rise...then I'm actually curious what you would come up given the less grounded tone of Rise.
Rise and Sunbreak is the sequel. Monster hunter world is just another game in the series that is monster hunter. They aren't going to explicitly create a "2" version of world, unless you consider iceborne to be that. The next game could go back to the new world or build upon what world has established, but it's not going to be called "Monster Hunter World 2".
@@tcg8455 Rise isn't a sequel to World. Rise is its own thing. MHWorld was the shift in momentum of the game, that brought it to the console and into more western outlooks on nature. Rise is not only developed by an entirely different team (the one behind Generations btw), but it also has an entirely different design philosophy attached. Where in World focussed more on the western perception of making a believable ecosystem, Rise went on to focus on the fantastical aspects of the monsters. Also Rise was in development alongside World. The teams did speak among each other and exchange ideas, but the game is not a successor (other than release order) to World. Also Rise is most likely the last title for Monster Hunter to be developed as a portable exclusive title, as is seen in the success of the PC port of Rise. So TL;DR: Rise is only a sequel to World in name, whereas in function, it's more of an alternate entry to the MH universe that does its own thing entirely.
@@doomdoot6731 that's what I meant. I am aware that rise and world are developed simultaneously by different teams, but since rise released after world, I thought I might as well call it the sequel to world, in this context anyway.
I hope you do the rise regions and monsters soon! These videos are really interesting. Btw since you do Monster Hunter and My Hero Academia stuff, have you read the story Heroes to Hunters? It's a fanfic that drops the MHA people into the Hunter world.
Quite an interesting biological tale of the guiding lands. It’s very beautiful. As for the knowledge bit, we do have very much to learn indeed as new discoveries are made.
Just out of curiosity... I'm assuming most of the info in this video (and the other ones as well) primarily come from in-game dialogue and cutscenes with a side of theorizing and personal creative liberties which I think is fine, that being said are you also taking info from the Official MHWorld and Iceborne Lore books? I personally don't have access to them and even if I did I can't read Japanese so I'd be really interested if you can touch on some the info they have.
