Really cool video. There is just one small thing about Magnamalo that could have also been mentioned: From what I know the Hellfire is also dangerous to the Magnamalo. Seen in the fights if the player hits a part often enough. This also can just happen at random and hurt a Magnamalo. Because of this they have to dispell some of the gas in order to not get hurt by just doing random attacks at nothing. That could explain why I have seen Magnamalo just do attacks at nothing from time to time.
I do really hope the next monster hunter game expands on the behaviors of monsters like world did. I would love to see how rise’s new monsters act in the wild instead of them just constantly just looking all around whenever you try to observe them. I get that rise is mostly focused on action and I’m happy with that, I just miss following monsters and learning their behaviors to plan ahead.
I’d like to see the Ghille mantle return in MH6, if possible, since I’d like to be able to watch the monsters without them agroing. This would also make it so the devs don’t have to place bushes to hide in all over the map
It's definitely the best way to tackle the monsters in Rise. The monsters in World had more focus on biology and ecology, but the ones in Rise all took inspiration from folklore and mythology. Rise gets a lot of flak for not being as consistent with its ecology, but I always thought the folklore inspirations were really fun.
This is a great start to Rise' docuseries. I'm glad you're bringing it back! The world series was a big help in me winding down at night for a long time after a rough day, excited for more!
A bit sad we never got an ecology of shara (would have loved to see you try to explain that thing’s eyes following the camera) but excited for the new series!
I'm so glad i decided to check out your channel again! I'm a massive fan of rise's more heavily traditional japanese inspirations and your segment on the aknosom is amazing. It's inspiration, Karakasa-obake (or some variation on that name), is my favourite of japans many odd yokai and as such, aknosom is one of my favourite monster in the series. Keep up the great work, your documentarys rock!
I loved these videos from World and after so long since the release of Rise, I thought that there wouldn't be any for it. So happy to see this one finally come! Keep up the great work man.
I wish you covered some of the small monsters and mainly endemic life, tho unfortunately Rise does not provide plenty of background to their smaller critters Amazing video though, really liked how you fleshed out every single monster “endemic” to the Shrine Ruins
I just started playing this for the first time. As a dinosaur need, I was so freaking excited when I just straight up saw compasognatus/dromaeosaur running around the place.
So glad you're going to do Rise after all! I remember at one point you'd been considering it, but then there was that weird bug with the channel. Looking forward to it :>
Love it! Though honestly I think the gods they talk about are just normal monsters. The gale and the bolt of lightning are obviously ibushi and narwa, but the rest are just normal mons.
Perhaps the celestial god was an Inagami, a rare elder dragon that lives in bamboo forests. Inagami are known to inject nutrients into the soil to accelerate the growth of plants to ridiculous extremes, and some small settlements venerate it as a god for this reason. Perhaps the Inagami who once ruled this forest was forced out or killed by the thunder serpent Narwa.
Having all the monsters be equally aggressive kinds of robs them of their distinct seeming behaviors. You just have to guess the monsters’ aggressiveness. The only exception would be Mitsuzune which the game outright says isn’t aggressive, contrary to gameplay.
tbf the game contextualizes the aggression. We're not taking a whimsical stroll through a new continent where monsters have yet to fear hunters, like in World. We're amid two ecological calamities, like in MH4, and the monsters are accordingly on edge. We're also canonically never sent to mess with monsters living their normal lives. We're sent to pacify deranged indivuduals causing damage to themselves and their environment.
I am so excited for this!! I never played world but I loved your nature of monster hunter world series so much, and I can’t wait to see you cover a game I have more context to! 140+ hours of context actually. I’ve been… a bit obsessed with it honestly. Only got it when sunbreak first dropped and it’s been pretty much the only game I played since, minus a few hours of Splatoon 3. Given that you covered iceborne in the original series, I assume you’re going to eventually cover sunbreak too? Though I’d assume you’re probably going to wait until the title updates finish, and in that case I’ll wait as long as it takes! Can’t wait to see what you do with this series!
Going to say that I wad not expecting this until the after the conclusion of Sunbreak's title updates, but I am grateful all the same. Looking forward to the other biomes and am wondering of you have plans for something similar to the black dragons episode of tje ecology of World to this series
yeah so funny story, i recorded that bit very late and was staring down the TU2 update, which would break all my camera mods, so I kinda just filmed the first herb I could find lol but yes you are of course correct :D
Magnamalo is such an interesting beastie, but the whole "Hellfire protects its body" doesn't seem to work that way in-game. I'd wager the initial purpose of Hellfire was probably just to keep their shells and horns hard. But perhaps a beneficial mutation popped up - one that gave certain Magnamalos the ability to weaponize their Hellfire for ranged attacks. With such a potent weapon at their disposal, these new Magnamalos almost certainly won the mating game over the ones unable to attack from a distance, and eventually became the ones we know today. As a result, they began to use their Hellfire more readily for means aside from keeping their shells hard. But the species' insistence of generating Hellfire in combat works _against_ them when they're up against Hunters. Those parts become softer when heated, making them easier to break - something that seems to be very common in Rise...
In the frontier series exist an elder dragon that causes bamboos grows faster and taller in the zone where it live, because it uses them like weapons; maybe they have the intention to put Inagami in the main series too, but, its just a theory.
Are you sure it's a good time to get into Rise's ecology? While Sunbreak is out there's a chance new monsters could primarily reside in areas like Shrine Ruins and make your ecologies outdated.
It'll be fine, the TUs seem to focus on endgame monsters like Iceborne did, many of which will be arena only. I'll make a special episode on them maybe
Hey man ! I absolutly love your videos, they are so amazing and you really make the world come alive. It shows you put a while bunch of tine and effort into these. I had one question tho, how and where do you get all this information from ? As far as I know, Capcom - Rise / Sunbreak hasn’t released any books or anything about the monsters. Is there any place where you get this information ?
You know, maybe OC makers can make a alternative evolution of psyduck, I already made a name: Sumoduck, water and fighting Pokémon, inspiration of Tetranadon.
Magnamalo's ecology and design would synergize well if they leaned into him being a master of threat display that used his frightening form to steal food. "Look at my many blades and spooky fire, i am terrifying, F off and give me your kill"
Awesome video as always. One question tho: where did you get the information on the magnamalo’s tempering his shell with hellfire? This is the first time i’m hearing this and i am very curious. Also sorry if my english is not perfect, it is not my first language
Thank you for watching! That factoid is an assumption on my part, based on the in-game observation that Magnamalo will always coat its claws in Hellfire before attacking another Monster combined with the canon Lore about its shell being irreplaceable (which came to us via the MHRise Artbook in Japan). As the disclaimer at the start states, these videos always include some liberties for the sake of structure and overall entertainment :)

God I love this new series of documentaries already
Man, this is getting me really excited for the frost islands. the narrative from the relics REALLY gives it's unique style over world.
Really cool video. There is just one small thing about Magnamalo that could have also been mentioned:
From what I know the Hellfire is also dangerous to the Magnamalo.
Yes, the Hellfire can damage Magnamalo if he isn't careful
it could be also that he attacked small monsters... but it makes sense what you said, so i believe it
I do really hope the next monster hunter game expands on the behaviors of monsters like world did. I would love to see how rise’s new monsters act in the wild instead of them just constantly just looking all around whenever you try to observe them. They do have unique behaviors. You just gotta look out for them. Try going on an expedition and sneaking on them from time to time
If I had a ghillie mantle, I could have been able to capture Aknosom preening in way less time. 💀
@@magnabueno5360 I really hope that they make some monster's non-aggro to the hunter in MH6, Mizutsune was perfect for a behaviour like that
Agreed, I miss a lot of those little details.
Ive heard that it may have to do with Switch limitations, but idk enough to confirm or deny
Okay, having played the game makes these videos so much more interesting.
Great stuff, keep it up, mr. ocean man.

Holy crap there it is! So stoked you're continuing this series!
I like this new style, implementing the folklore of these fictional places into this format works well. Keep up the good work 👍
It's definitely the best way to tackle the monsters in Rise. The monsters in World had more focus on biology and ecology, but the ones in Rise all took inspiration from folklore and mythology. Rise gets a lot of flak for not being as consistent with its ecology, but I always thought the folklore inspirations were really fun.
Django Dodgebolt needs an award for such a daring and dangerous line of work.
This is a great start to Rise' docuseries. I'm glad you're bringing it back! The world series was a big help in me winding down at night for a long time after a rough day, excited for more!
Just finished watching the 5h+ long documentary on MHW, and this comes out. Awesome!
A bit sad we never got an ecology of shara (would have loved to see you try to explain that thing’s eyes following the camera) but excited for the new series!
Love the way you weave the relic records in
Magnamalo is so cool and underrated
I'm so glad i decided to check out your channel again!

these monster Hunter videos are actually the reason I got into your channel. thank you for making more
Hopefully when we get to the flooded forest, you cover the gobul since it is a recognized species despite its current absence
man the perfect return to the nature of monster hunter series and i also like how you used the relics in the video adds some extra content.
I wish you covered some of the small monsters and mainly endemic life, tho unfortunately Rise does not provide plenty of background to their smaller critters
Amazing video though, really liked how you fleshed out every single monster “endemic” to the Shrine Ruins
14:08 I totally missed the eyeball, never noticed it. I guess that makes it look even more like the Yo-Kai.
I just started playing this for the first time. As a dinosaur need, I was so freaking excited when I just straight up saw compasognatus/dromaeosaur running around the place.
Oh wow, a Monster Hunter Rise documentary! This is awesome!!
So glad you're going to do Rise after all! I remember at one point you'd been considering it, but then there was that weird bug with the channel. Looking forward to it :>
A lovely return to form. Love these ecology videos. I will be interested in seeing how you explain the symbiosis with parasites certain monsters have
This is so cool, great job ! I love the way you tied the poems from the game and the monsters in the script
Love it! Though honestly I think the gods they talk about are just normal monsters. The gale and the bolt of lightning are obviously ibushi and narwa, but the rest are just normal mons.
I feel like the entire thing is Ibushi and narwa lol
Perhaps the celestial god was an Inagami, a rare elder dragon that lives in bamboo forests. Inagami are known to inject nutrients into the soil to accelerate the growth of plants to ridiculous extremes, and some small settlements venerate it as a god for this reason. Perhaps the Inagami who once ruled this forest was forced out or killed by the thunder serpent Narwa.
Very interesting indeed! Thanks for the tip, I just looked into it 🤘
I think it was just the Divine Serpents. Occam’s Razor and all that.
Gt Izuchi is the best "drome" he actually synergizes with Izuchis even for some simple attacks like his scratch rush
Well the attacks aren’t really that dangerous, they’re kinda just there.
Great Jaggi is still my favorite. Love the dumb dino

Wow, your Monster Hunter videos are really good! Im definitely watching more of them! I mainly watched the my hero vids lol
Been waiting for this to start up, thanks for the content
Ah the shrine ruins such a beautiful place to both relax and hunt some monsters.
I loved this, thank you for this and your hard work!
Megnamalo and the rampage is just like the elders crossing and nergigante when you think about it
Man the izuchi really be using the spin
That you for this existing because it’s so good
YES I LOVE THESE VIDEOS i hope that you have the time to do some over mhgu one day
Absolutely loved it and discovered so many animations. Pls do other maps !
These videos always make my day
OH MY HE DID IT I CANT WAIT FOR MORE
Yes! Can’t wait until you do the Lava Caverns!
we have had the rocket powered monster and rocket powered greatsword, now we have the fart powered monster, lets goo
Omg finally! The Rise season!
I like to think Magnamalo is a natural response to The Rampage and is in hibernation between Rampages.
Will you be making a full series for Rise? I really hope you do : )
Going to say that I wad not expecting this until the after the conclusion of Sunbreak's title updates, but I am grateful all the same. Looking forward to the other biomes and am wondering of you have plans for something similar to the black dragons episode of tje ecology of World to this series
I learned new things thanks
The fire herb you showed was actually ivy.
yeah so funny story, i recorded that bit very late and was staring down the TU2 update, which would break all my camera mods, so I kinda just filmed the first herb I could find lol
but yes you are of course correct :D
@@Oceaniz I understand lol. Your videos are amazing man. Thank you for the hard work and entertainment. ❤️
YES! Mhr is getting the documentaries! Woo!
Also, thanks Django Dodgebolt!
Now this is where the fun begins
I... should give rise another try (World was my first mh game, so I'd consider myself still a youngling for this series)
partial reason I gave up on rise was cause how few slopes I was given as a hammer main
@@PyroShadow117I feel you with the hammer lol. You should definitely try rise again tho

Playing Rise feel FAR more immersive and meaningful if you dable in Japanese history, tradition, and mythology.
In the frontier series exist an elder dragon that causes bamboos grows faster and taller in the zone where it live, because it uses them like weapons; maybe they have the intention to put Inagami in the main series too, but, its just a theory.
That old timey Japanese style translates sooo well to These Videos!
Thank you Django Bodgebolt, Godspeed to you
I found out yesterday that Arzeros is afraid of Tetranodon.
Oh shit!! A rise Doc!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 🎉🎉 i love these videos so much
WAIT! RISE MEANS SUNBREAK AND SUNBREAK MEANS JUNGLE!!! ITS ALMOST MY TIME TO SHINE!!!
1:58 "frenzied" and "bloodlusted" you say? I see what you did there...

Oh boy, here we go again!
Hey man ! I absolutly love your videos, they are so amazing and you really make the world come alive. It shows you put a while bunch of tine and effort into these. Loved this video!
I know nothing about this topic butttt..
Cool!
So what I'm understanding from this, is that Magnamalo has been sharting on us this whole time
Cant wait for more!!!
When I say I squealed when I got the notification, I’m not lying😃
the areas around Kamura and Elgado seem to suggest that humans have certainly downsized from some previous, larger civilization
Thank you yess new video
Great video now I can kill the monsters for my decos with more thought on why they are there
You know, maybe OC makers can make a alternative evolution of psyduck, I already made a name: Sumoduck, water and fighting Pokémon, inspiration of Tetranadon.
Great video! Btw there are motion of arzuros catching fish in risebreak. I uploaded it in my channel too.
Let’s take a brief moment to thank Django Dodgebolt, the ultimate cameraman, for the footage you now see before you

Wait, the destroyed Kamura Village was a separate one from the modern one, not just the same village rebuilt?
Great video series! But i need to ask one question: is magnamalos hellfire just his farts?
Also I love this series
I love this videos
11:16 Kinda weird description for the "Bloodlust Incarnate"
Absolutely love it ❤
I'm pretty sure bamboo just grows forever normally, it doesn't have anything to do with the special izuchi tail?
Love the Steve Irwin of the Monster hunter universe. RIP :(
Now I feel bad for killing Great Izuchi’s bro was on dat grind 💪💪💪
4:21 and yet they’ll still try to attack every other monster in the game because Wyvern riding

Thank you very much for the answer. I was looking at where was this information for a long time.
Do Great Izuchi give their companions extra health?
YES!!!!!!
Do more monster hunter rise documentary
Oh my god he survived
So... Does that mean Magnamalo is constantly farting from its entire body?
Yeap, and during the rampage he is especially gassy
