    It strikes me how much shoe culture has changed since I was a kid. In the 80s and 90s, you always wanted your shoes to look "broken in." You'd never want to wear a brand new pair of sneakers to school without wearing them at home walking the dog and mowing the lawn for a while first. Now kids want them to look new and shiny forever.

    • @rompevuevitos222
      @rompevuevitos222 14 днів тому

      That sounds pretty weird tbh.
      Like, why would you want your shoes to look worse?

    • @dexmartin4358
      @dexmartin4358 14 днів тому

      @@rompevuevitos222 You didn't want them to look "worse." You just wanted them not to look new. It was the same with jeans. Jeans these days come pre-distressed, but they used be solid dark blue denim when they were new, and you'd never want to wear them like that where people could see you. So you'd wear them at home until they'd been washed a few times and started to fade.

    • @rompevuevitos222

      @@dexmartin4358 I do know about the new trend of buying broken jeans. I still don't get it at all.

      It genuinely baffles me.

    The irony is that the best shoes is what is practically just beavers on our feet. The ideal material for making the best shoe literally has to be grown. Dead animal skin is like a zombie, it doesnt rot and is durable in most situations but just not rare situations. Most people who are not wearing practically beavers on their feet are most likely boot licking their corporate overlord.

    Converse are the most fun looking shoe (and among the easiest rubber sole shoes to draw which I love them for) but also among the least comfortable footwear on the planet, at least if you have sorta wide, sorta flat feet. I miss my Vibrams, they were the only shoe I've ever bought that fit, and when your someone like me that has to not wear shoes a lot since none fit my feet then finding a shoe that fits is the best thing in the world, and I mean this instead of going to a pediatrist and it ends up costing you 1K for a pair of shoes. I wish I could find a place that sells them again, you have to try them on since each model fits so different. So online it's hard to know what size is going to fit.

    But I am also certain that we will never find the intentional first shoe because it could be just about anything that's flat and big enough for a foot to stand on.
    I was going to go with something wrapped around the foot, like a leaf, but really a piece of bark of a tree could just as easily be it.

    Shoes have a very intricate and fascinating history. Starting off as a utilitarian necessity and then becoming a fashion accessory to distinguish social classes.
    Shoe classism still exists to this day due to its deep cultural history.
    Toes disappeared after the Roman empire became Christian for about a thousand years.
    And pointer shoes the better. Also the first sport shoes were made by converse.

      its really sad she literally has a vid about "unnecessary" body parts where pinky toes are useless etc. while she forgets to mention the sheer amount of feet trauma that were induced singlehandedly by deleting that same pinkie's natural balance function throughout later footwear industry "choices" made solely for looks purpose ///// hate to be that guy tho buuuut, i myself had and currently have certain issues so that is twice as painful to see
      and so it goes on, even those that position themselves as somewhat anatomy-biologists (not necessarily in her case as she haven't said anything as far as i am aware, still that is axiom to assume someone who speaks this way on certain subject as if person knows it... actually knows what he/she is talking about ESPECIALLY as influencer, being that bears responsibility on terms of information it publishes after all) whatever
      they simply, intentionally or not, talk absolute bsht nonsense while unaware of true consequences and circumstances for the subject appearance to begin with and end up only reinforcing wrong beliefs in society

    The biggest threat to people hiding their feet from the wierdos, are the wierdos who are really into shoes.
