Companies do that intentionally to create a sense of scarcity and people associate value with that which they can’t easily obtain. If there’s an abundance people scoff because it’s no longer a rarity. I think both concepts are silly. Simply create a decent product line at a reasonable price and people will buy it ! Not to say that I don't get caught up on an occasional fashion trend, sidenote that's how I ended up with a pair of New Balance 550's, but I've been wearing Dunks & Gazelles before they became a fashion trend again. Moral of the story is : Wear what you'd like, just make sure it suits you, and looks good on you.

I use my Carhartt Detroit Hamilton Brown jacket every spring and fall. Been doing it for the last 5-6 years and are gonna keep doing it since it becomes nicer and more comfy for each year. Dunks and SB's as a shoe are definitely a trend. they went from being popular in the early 2000s to going quiet during the nike basketball sneaker boom of the early 2010s when the South Beach 8's were the IT shoe. now nobody wears Nike Basketball. Were people wearing dunks during that time? yes. however they were not nearly as popular as they are now or the early 2000s. therefore they're trendy

Now Jordan's, Air Force 1, Air Max 90/95/97, SB dunk, and Yeezys are all staples in sneaker culture. Nobody is ever going to say any of those are out dated.
SBs are straight fuego. You throw a pair of those on and any real sneakerhead will pay their respects. Joe blow dunks might get you a couple weird stares though 😅

the sambas do not replace the 550s. the only place where the sambas take the place of the 550s are on tiktok trends. the 550s are bulky and goes great with larger outfits, specially pants, and if you exchange them for the sambas you wont have the same outcome
Honestly, I think the Adidas Samba trend is gonna go exactly the same way that the 550s did. Personally, I also think that it's an overall worse design but it might last longer due to its blandness.
Trends and mainstream appeal aside, I still think the 550 is quite an elegant design as opposed to something that looks more like a brick like the AF1.

I still love my 550 and wear the crap out of it, its an easy to wear shoe. Just cuz so many colorway got dumped into the market don’t make the shoes less hot imo. Look at the 1’s its being dumped into the market but everyone don’t ever seem to get bored lmfao.

I couldn't give a hoot what's trending and what's not in fashion. I wear all vintage 80s n 90s clothing and I only wear retro nikes/Jordan's/Reeboks from that time period.
I have gotten funny looks before, especially when I'm wearing my 80s shell suits, but I wear what I like and what I'm comfortable in. Plus I'm biased, lol. I'm 41 so of course I think the fashion from back in the day is more superior in looks and quality. 🙌
