I love "use what I have till it's gone" It will never happen. My scraps multiply I have plenty of yardage, but I reach for my scraps first. And they never run out. I love your channel TY
Yeah. And no matter how much fabric you use, it never makes a dent. Yet when you buy one yard, your fabric stash explodes
Lol. 3 years of quilting scraps done so far, another 15 years to go here!
I am going to have to clarify that. Use what I have pulled from the stash for that particular quilt till it's gone.

Wing Clipper is a must have tool. Incomparable productivity and accuracy. Any blocks with bias benefit from slight oversizing and accurate trim down. I made about 200 Sawtooth stars to put in some throws. Block immersion helps develop deep skills (and appreciation of good tools)
I enjoy quilting as you go. But until now, it was a bit boring. Thank you for your video. I look forward to continuing with great anticipation. 🙂

Hi Maureen. I do appreciate your help in understanding the math in quilting. I've been sewing since Home-EC. class in high school (1968, I'm 70 now). I enjoyed making clothes that no one else had.
I've been quilting regularly since 2020 and watch a lot of quilters on UA-cam. I have 2 treadle machines that I regularly use, and I like to piece while watching quilting videos.
I enjoy your opinions on other quilters approach to construction methods etc. You have a great no nonsense attitude that I enjoy.
I live in Texas now but am originally from the Wheeling, Illinois area.

Being as how I am another in the herky-jerky family when it comes to free motion quilting I was absolutely fascinated with today’s video! Oh my goodness! I’m on a very limited budget and I’m planning on making quilts that need more than just a straight line quilting so this is So interesting! Celtic charm is very pretty and definitely all the Christmas quilt size that I would need should I win. That’s so nice of you to be giving away all these quilts!

I have one of those pounce pads and I tried using it for a whole quilt; which didn't work out very well. It never occurred to me to try QAYG! I can see how that might work better, so I will give that a try, and check out the booklet you mentioned. Thanks again for this video!!

Thanks for telling us about Pauline and her quilt as you go method. I've never been a fan of QAYG done the original way, but these results are much nicer. It will be quite a learning curve, but I'm game to try it for quilts I make that are block-based. Bought the book and the sashers. Off we go! as usual, a terrific episode with common-sense advice and straightforward presentation. Love it.

I would love to win the Celtic Charm quilt top. I've been intrigued by Pauline's QAYG method for a while now and I believe I have her book. I wasn't aware of the quilt ponce product. I DO struggle with FMQ so this might be a solution for me. Are the stencils from Pauline or are they ones you had? Thanks for sharing!
The stencils are from Full Line Stencil, my distributor carries them so you should be able to find them in your LQS. If not, they have a website, fulllinestencil.com
How do you avoid build up on your iron when you use starch or Best Press? Wilma howell
Can you do a video on the best machine QAYG method? I don't like obvious connector sashings and there's no way I'm hand stitching around each block on the back. Also, doesn't the lack of continuous batting create floppy areas? I like this quilting with feed dogs up, but I need to be convinced about QAYG before committing. Thank you.
Pauline uses batting in some of her connecters. Her quilts looked really lovely; I did not see any floppy areas. As far as the best machine, I am a Bernina dealer and, of course, think they are the best. That said, if you can reduce your presser foot pressure you can do the technique.

How would you remove chalk after quilting?
There are two types of the chalk one is wash away or brush it off, the other is heat remove. Just depends on which one you purchase.

2.5 I think Pauline said she uses 3 but I am not positive.
did you spray baste first?

What’s the reason for not using the dual feed?
When I tried it with the dual feed the fabric did not glide as easily. I think it must put some pressure on the block.
this sounded fantastic until you mentioned adjusting the presser foot pressure. I don't like to mess with my machine. Besides, it's a basic Janome 2212 and I have no idea how I would do this. UA-cam was no help unless I wanted to pay for the answer. Trying to think of a way to do this without the presser foot issue.
