Johnny really appreciate the videos! I'm a Navy Sailor and since the COVID stuff I've been stuck on a ship for the past 60 days, but I've used it to play some great games. I played through and beat Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Zelda links awakening, golf story, kirby star allies, starfox 2, dragon quest builders 2. I also dabbed into samurai shodown, the end is nigh, virtua racing, resident evil revelations 2 coop, valkyria chronicles 4, a hat in time, and deadly premonitions origins. It's hard being stuck here but I'm happy spending some of my day making memories with these games and watching your videos.

And Shinobi! Altered beast in its antic greece could have been a god of war. Imagine such games if SEGA was still in the hardware industry in good health... But SHINOBI man. All these companies are doind ninja and Samourais games. Come on SEGA.
Been playing alot of FF7R of course. Also been playing alot of WoW with my kids which has put a whole new life to it. Been playing FFT on my Vita too. Just got Balthier and loving that game all over again!
Times like these make me appreciate your channel more than ever . I have been watching your channel for almost ten years now. Happyconsolegamer is the only youtube channel that I have continuously watched through out the years and never get tired of . You and Victor Lucas are the gods of Canadian video gaming . I have watched victor for my 20 years now . I can not wait to see you two together again . Thank you Johnny you are a legend . I heard they are putting you in the next Canadian 20$ bill . Congratulations
YS series holds a special place in my heart(ys2 is my personal fav). really glad seeing you talking about your addiction and love for ys1 until this day. Thank you Johnny it feels like listening to an old friend talking about the shared OG days.
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing, Far Cry 5, Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, Resident Evil 3. Also just got Horizion Zero Dawn, Assassins Creed Odyssey and Origins. I’ve been doing so much gaming due to the virus 🦠 finally getting to play all these great games.
I've been playing Streets of Rage 4 like a lunatic. An absolute masterpiece of a game. I love everything about it. Occasionally, I've been going back to Sonic Adventure on my SEGA Dreamcast. It's a comfort game for me, for sure!
Never been this early. I've been going back to the past too Johnny. Almost started Streets of Rage 4 last night. You convinced me to start it tonight. Finished Metroid Prime 2: Echoes a few days ago. My wife and I finished God of War 3 Remastered and I barreled through My Friend Pedro in a couple sittings. It's been fun.
Adding a second comment to say when you start geeking out and getting all excited about games it really makes your videos and puts a smile on my face! Keep up the great work!
I'm impatiently waiting on Limited Run for my copy of Streets of Rage 4. In the meantime I'm just fishing, catching bugs, and sending insulting postcards to my Animal Crossing villagers.
Yeah me too I’m still waiting on my physical copies of Streets of Rage 4 and Panzer Dragoon remake. The shop app says its in transit so it should be soon🤞
Here's what I'm playing: - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D - Rockman.EXE Operate Shooting Star - Sonic Advance - Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition - Evoland 2 - Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate - And sometimes Animal Crossing: New Horizons
I keep meaning to go back to my BGEE playthrough, I made it to Baldurs Gate and flamed out. Wanted to do a run of the first and second game before the 3rd comes out. Great game. I also rolled about 10,000 times to get a OP character 😂

Tremendous job with all your videos, the nostalgia of all the games you talk about is amazing. I was there in the beginning of the video game rebound in 1985 and played so many classics on all the different consoles. Going back in time listening to you describe them all is a real treat. Thank you and keep up the great work!
I've been playing Phantasy Star 1 (SEGA AGES) on my Switch all day. I've started with the second game back in the days and never played the first one. And I love it now.
DQ VIII and XI are the best ones. Still remember the first time i had eared the world music in VIII... mesmerazing. (and you can put that music in XI too, amazing)
What I love about Ys 1&2 is that the simplicity is so addictive. The goals aren't as convoluted as other RPG's, there isn't a catalogue of weapons and armor, the combat is fast paced and easy. It's such a fun, steady game with great music and visuals.
Took your advice on the Ninja Saviors for Switch. Man you were not wrong. SoR4 is unreal, again another recommend from yourself. Love the energy, the vibes and most of all the Nostalgia. Thanks for all the amazing contact.
I've actually been playing Super Robot Wars T, my first time ever playing a Super Robot Wars game. It has Captain Harlock, Cowboy Bebop, Votoms, and so many other great series in it. I couldn't pass it up. I also got me a copy of SRW X to get to enventually. -and you mentioned Dunbine. I'm currently watching that show on bluray and halfway into it. Love it so far.
Really glad that you enjoyed Dunbine,it's one of my favourite unique mecha concepts,i hope that you get hooked on the super robot wars genre also, there are so many games to pick up if you can navigate through Japanese texts and honestly it can be intimidating at first glance but deep down the mechanics is quite simple and ubiquitous among all super robot games so you don't have to learn new things from game to game. My favourite are the F series and the Alpha series.
Great video John as always. Since the lockdown l’ve played and finished Dragon Quest 11 on the Switch, Resident Evil 3 remake, Resident Evil 0, the original Resident Evil and the original Final Fantasy 7. Hopefully be finishing off Trials of Mana tonight which was been insanely good to play ☺️👍🏻
I'm currently almost finished the trials of mana remake. Also been playing Indivisible, Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, Jackbox party pack 3 with the fam, and Children of Morta with the wife. Lots of great games out there!
Starting Trails of Cold Steel 3 today. Loved the first and I'm pretty sure that's what carried me through 2. It's so all-consuming that criticism just kinda evaporates. Been hearing good things about 3.
Thomas Rhodes did you play the Trails in the Sky trilogy? Man the first and second chapter of that trilogy is one of the best RPGs of all time IMO. I haven’t played the 3rd yet though as I have to take breaks between JRPGs so i don’t burn out. But looking forward to the 3rd, the Crossbell game that just had the fan translation, hopefully a localized version of the 2nd Crossbell game will be out by the time I get there and already have cold steel 1 and 2 for PS. Great series so far.
@@Zazzaro703 I played a little of the first one on PSP and liked it. I'm pretty bad about sticking to long JPRG series (got to Xenosaga 3 and put it off until I forgot where I was). Was glad I stuck with Digital Devil Saga though
- Animal Crossing : New Horizons - Dragon Quest XI : Echoes of an Elusive Age - Super Mario Bros 2 - Grim Dawn : Reign of Terror MOD (Diablo 2 MOD in Grim Dawn) - Runescape
I've recently been getting back into playing Smash, but I've been getting my way through Dragon Quest VII for the first time on my 3DS about 55 hours in and am having a great time mastering each vocation and progressing through the story.
I have been playing Shenmue 1 & 2 for the first time recently. Right now I am trying out Lost Odyssey. Big fan of the ps1 final fantasy games and heard that it shares a lot in common with final fantasy.
Speaking of the past John I just want to say thank you for reminding me of my childhood, all of my friends hovering over the super nintendo, waiting for my sega dreamcast to arrive from fingerhut (took forever)but when it finally came Dreamcast was revolutionary and blew us away,I really am glad you also share the same love for the original PSO I spent so many of my days after school till bedtime playing non stop and In my opinion no other online game will bring me the feeling that PSO did, just want to say thanks again John for what you do.
Always love hearing what you've been playing! Your positivity and pure passion for gaming keeps me watching no matter what the video is about haha. My wife and I have been playing through Diablo 2. Big fans of the channel. Love from New Zealand 😁
ESWAT is actually the first Sega Genesis game i ever played. I remember that i was blown away by the by fact that the background was not "fixed" to the foreground as in all my NES games!
OBSESSED with TRIALS OF MANA(PS4) glad you spoke about Trials of Mana! was one of the games I was waiting on your review for (even though I had already preordered it etc.) - glad you decided to play it for yourself. makes total sense. take care guys!
I've been playing Splatoon 2 and Animal Crossing New Horizons mostly. But also the original Splatoon, Paper Mario (64) and River City Girls. Excellent video Johnny!
I'm playing all kinds of stuff right now but mainly these four: - Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl - Hatsune Miku Project DIVA: Mega Mix - Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Ring Fit Adventure Trying to finish Etrian Odyssey before Xenoblade comes out. I like to focus on one RPG at a time.
Just finished playing both Shenmue games on the HD collection in just 9 days which is very rare for me to be hooked to that kind of degree and it was all because of your video titled "Shenmue Rocks" that i picked up the collection in the first place, thank you and I can't wait to put the included poster on my wall!
You got me to play Streets of Rage 2 after watching your top 10 Genesis video, and now it looks like I'll be playing Streets of Rage 4, haha. I also beat Mega Man 2 for the first time yesterday (not as hard as I remember!), and I'm playing Taiko no Tatsujin V on the PS Vita. It's my favorite rhythm game series, and the RPG story mode is super addictive (get note combos to kill monsters faster). Besides that, I pick up DQ8 (3DS) and Animal Crossing NH every now and then.
Just in time to enjoy my cup of tea with Johnny and gaming 😃. I'm the same as you and have been playing streets of rage 4 like mad. I can't seem to put it down. I do hope that DLC does release for the game, gameplay wise I can't tell many differences from 2-3 to 4 apart from perhaps the hitboxes. Take care Johnny!
I’ve just beaten streets of rage 4 and I though of you when I played it Johnny. The music is amazing. Love the boss themes and especially the last stage. Really sets the mood! I’m gonna watch your review of it later today. I’m going over Trials of mana soon too! :)
He only reviews games he thinks he'll like. I always think to myself watching Johnny is great because he's so positive all the time and now I know his secret! Stunningly simple approach but it works so well for the channel!
I been playing Monster Hunter GU (first time), Monster Boy, but I just bought some racing games & War of Mine and Phantom Doctrine. Yes all on Switch & not disappoint
I've been taking this Quarantine to finally play through the Ys games. I started with 8, then moved onto 1 and 2, and currently playing Ys Origin. Its a fun way to kill time until Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition!
Glad seeing another Super Robot Warss fan btw there's another one being SRW T where they have freaking Cowboy Bebop in the roster and GaoGaiGar like hell yeah!
That's why I can't rush out a review, I want to play my games at my own pace and truly enjoy them, and not feel like I need to rush them, I've just given up that 😂👍
Trials of Mana is a joy for old school gamers for sure, I’ve played through it multiple times. Still having a great time playing it. Also picked up dragons crown recently too
I recently finished The Darkness II, Prince of Persia 2008, KoF XIII, Blazing Chrome, and The Little Nightmares. Now I’m playing Splinter Cell trilogy HD, The Last Remnant HD, and Killer Is Dead.
I've been playing my old ps2 and it's so impressive how many games that I never got to play back when I got the console, like Persona 4, MGS 2 and 3, Rogue Galaxy, I just fell in love with Radiata Stories recently... anyways, what a great system...
I've finished both FF7 remake and Yakuza 6 this month and now I'm playing Dragon Quest 1 on the switch to bide time till Xenoblade comes out. I just got the harp this morning
I just started Dragon Quest XI yesterday. Great game. I bought FF7 remake but haven't played it yet, also just bought Yakuza 0, will be my first experience with Yakuza games when I get to it.
Awesome to see Super Robot Wars on here. This series deserves more attention outside of Japan. Also agree with Ys Book 1 and 2. I never got to play it back in the day, but I remember seeing the pictures in the magazines and how incredible it looked compared to what was out at the time. I’ve heard some hardcore RPG players knock it for being too shallow, but the game is just incredibly fun and addictive to play. I never get tired of it. It’s like that really good movie you end up watching in it’s entirety every time it comes on.
@@stefanagha3248 I have 8 for PS2, but dang I wish I would've picked it up on 3DS, its hard to find or its to expensive atm. I have 9, I think I'll go to that one next after I'm done with 7! I also have 1-6 coming in from ebay, the Japanese versions though. They're so much cheaper lmao
Been playing through one of my favourite horror games of all time for the 5th time! The original Call of Cthulhu released back in 2005, never fails to give a good scare along with an amazing story
Such a great selection of games you're playing, Johnny! Happy to see you're doing well and enjoying yourself :) Lately I've been really into The Legend Of Dragoon. Never actually beat it before and haven't played it since around 2011. Tbh it feels like a completely new game!
pc gamer here, after years playing through isometric rpgs like baldurs gate 1 and 2, icewind dale 2, never winter nights 2, pillars of eternity 1 and 2, divinity 1 and 2, I'm finally going to play through planescape torment enhanced edition on my big screen tv, planescape is the one that everyone always says is the best infinity engine game along with baldurs gate 2.
I've been playing a lot of story driven games this past couple of weeks. I've finished man of Medan, beyond two souls and Detroit become human. They are all fantastic games and highly recommended.Plus animal crossing every day which is great fun.
Detroit become human was amazing. My 1st time playing a game like that.we got it for free on ps+ then i went and bout a physical copy to help out the developer team. Gonna check out the rest of the games you mentioned.
I've been binging the Trails series. Started with Trails in the Sky FC in January and now I'm up to Trails of Cold Steel 2... Gotta say, The Sky Trilogy and the two Crossbell games (Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure) are so darn good that they've crept into my Top Ten RPGs... Each arc has a really compelling story that builds upon the overall world of the series and I gotta say I am impressed with just how much continuity there is from game-to-game. Events in Sky FC are still very much relevant 7 games in... That's just crazy. Outside of that I recently convinced myself to play Xanadu Next, which I beat in a couple days, and I gotta say that was a pretty good RPG as well. When I finish Trails of Cold Steel 3 I intend on playing Tokyo Xanadu eX+ before finally playing Ys IX through. As someone who grew up in the 90s with a copy of Ys Books 1&2 on the TurboGrafx I have made sure to buy all the Ys games as they come out, so I couldn't wait for IX... TL;DR - I'm on a Falcom RPG Binge of a series I missed out on for some reason because I only paid attention to Ys.
My main games atm are: Valorant, Temtem, League of Legends. Other games I play occasionally are: Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft (standard), GTA V ^.^ having lots of fun
Streets of Rage 2's version of Axel is OP in this game in my opinion.I have classic Shiva unlocked, which surprised me. I love the hidden classic areas in the arcade machines .
I had a feeling you would like Streets of Rage 4. I’ve been subscribed to your channel for over 10 years now. It’s always enjoyable and entertaining hearing you talk about and recommend games. I hope the Switch will be around for a good chunk of time like the PS2 was with a library of amazing games.
Good that you're playing some games at your own pace. When I saw your Final Fantasy 7 Remake video I was almost shocked that you beat it that quickly. I mean 24 hours, man. It took me 51 hours.
Mostly working on my PS3 and Xbox 360 backlog right now. - Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (DS) - The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch (PSP) - Tekken 6 (PS3) - Transformers: War for Cybertron (PS3) - From Dust (X360) - Outland (X360)
Johnny really appreciate the videos! I'm a Navy Sailor and since the COVID stuff I've been stuck on a ship for the past 60 days, but I've used it to play some great games. Yeah deadly premonition!
I recently got the Dragon Quest 11 platinum trophy.
Same but lot of time ago... Amazing game for sure
Congrats!
I want the Switch version.
I did that, then deleted my data by accident before my ps plus subscription, so I couldn't get it back.
I'm also working on platinums for DQ11 and Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. Fun to return to them again without distraction a year+ later
I've been playing all the Metroid games, absolutely amazing. On Fusion now and finished the Prime trilogy
been thinking about playing am2r again
Ayy i did that last year I finished all 2 now im waiting for the collection or the prime series
Metroid Prime is a masterpiece. One of a handful of games I consider perfect. Fusion is also an incredible Metroid.

I'm playing all kinds of stuff right now but mainly these four:
- Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
- Hatsune Miku Project DIVA: Mega Mix
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Ring Fit Adventure
Trying to finish Etrian Odyssey before Xenoblade comes out. I like to focus on one RPG at a time.
SO I'm loving trials if mana remake so much I going back to the classic when I finish it.
Just finished playing both Shenmue games on the HD collection in just 9 days which is very rare for me to be hooked to that kind of degree and it was all because of your video titled "Shenmue Rocks" that i picked up the collection in the first place, thank you and I can't wait to put the included poster on my wall!
Dug up my old SNES to find that I lost the power cable, had to order that new one to get my nostalgia craving satisfied!
I’m playing Animal Crossing and Sakura Wars.
I finally beat Dark souls and now I'm about to beat Dark souls 3. Also still playing animal crossing :)
I appreciate that!
I been playing Monster Hunter GU (first time), Monster Boy, but I just bought some racing games & War of Mine and Phantom Doctrine. Yes all on Switch & not disappoint
I've been playing Warzone, Breath of the Wild, and Animal Crossing. Just got my Switch Lite 😁
Audio is the worst thing, but man it feels good to run and gun and when you get a good streak going. No other feeling like it in gaming right now lol
I've been playing lots of old school ZX Spectrum and C64 games - games like Last Ninja, Jetpac, Chase HQ etc; been having a blast!
I'm playing Dragon Quest XI 35 hrs so far...truly awesome RPG...and A Hat in Time...so much fun and the soundtrack is really good too!
I've been taking this Quarantine to finally play through the Ys games. I started with 8, then moved onto 1 and 2, and currently playing Ys Origin. Its a fun way to kill time until Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition!
Respect for the red headed hero !!
Finished Bloodstained yesterday and now deciding what to play next! It’s between Final Fantasy XV and Spider-Man! Love the video
You got me to start playing Ys games and I started with Ys Origins. And I'm having so much fun!
Glad seeing another Super Robot Warss fan btw there's another one being SRW T where they have freaking Cowboy Bebop in the roster and GaoGaiGar like hell yeah!
That's why I can't rush out a review, I want to play my games at my own pace and truly enjoy them, and not feel like I need to rush them, I've just given up that 😂👍
Division 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Destiny 2, Steam World Quest, MK11, Monopoly and more....
Im very happy to see all this love for the Division !! Good luck Agent !
Playing - streets of rage 4. Horizon chase turbo. A plagues tale. luigis mansion 3. virtua Racing
I'm playing the 20 years old Front Mission 3, the visual are of course outdated, but the gameplay and story are still excellent.
I've been playing my old ps2 and it's so impressive how many games that I never got to play back when I got the console, like Persona 4, MGS 2 and 3, Rogue Galaxy, I just fell in love with Radiata Stories recently... anyways, what a great system...
same here man, been on inuyasha on my ps2
Aw man I've always wanted to play Radiata Stories. Looks like a great game. I bought Rogue Galaxy off the network but haven't gotten to it yet.
Hey Johnny! I've been playing Outward with my buddy... What a blast!
I played streets of rage 4 and beat it the day it came out, I thought it was great man. Glad to see the series come back, it's about time.
I've finished both FF7 remake and Yakuza 6 this month and now I'm playing Dragon Quest 1 on the switch to bide time till Xenoblade comes out. I just got the harp this morning
@@ItzATM It isn't the first ever dragon quest ever game lol it's not even part of the series (a spin-off) . That said, it's a very good game yes.
Awesome E-Swat shout out!!!! Playing Fire Pro World. Love it!!!!
I think you made the right decision with Trials of Mana. Thanks for the awesome videos!
I've been playing Frontier Saga 2, Dragon Quest 7 for the 3DS and replaying Bloodborne for like the 5th time lmao
Ha, I’m playing DQ7 on my 3DS too! I have a Switch and PS4 but just love the simplicity of the old DQ games! 8 and 9 are great too!
I've been playing Persona 5 Royal, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Doom Eternal. I'm on New Game Plus for Royal.
Been playing through one of my favourite horror games of all time for the 5th time! The original Call of Cthulhu released back in 2005, never fails to give a good scare along with an amazing story
Such a great selection of games you're playing, Johnny! Happy to see you're doing well and enjoying yourself :)
Lately I've been really into The Legend Of Dragoon.
Awesome
Dragon Quest 11 and Bubble Bobble 4 on Switch atm.
Old man now, so many thousands of games on backlog, so little time...
My main games atm are: Valorant, Temtem, League of Legends. Other games I play occasionally are: Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft (standard), GTA V
^.^ having lots of fun
Streets of Rage 2's version of Axel is OP in this game in my opinion.I have classic Shiva unlocked, which surprised me. I love the hidden classic areas in the arcade machines .
Play Log_
Nier Automata, Far cry 3 blood dragon, Kinetica, Fate Extella Link, Dark Souls, Digimon Next Order, Darksiders. And alot more
I had a feeling you would like Streets of Rage 4.
- Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (DS)
- The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch (PSP)
- Tekken 6 (PS3)
- Transformers: War for Cybertron (PS3)
- From Dust (X360)
- Outland (X360)
I feel the same way about these tunes. Sweet sweet retro wave
