- Finally getting around to updating those bad 4x10 OEM rear speakers to a decent pair of 6x9s. I was able to use a set of adapters for an easy, clean and simple install while saving the original condition of the car.

My dude this is an old video but you just saved me a bunch of trunk time with a saws all. Crazy. God bless
Awesome! Glad it helped you! Thanks for feedback.
Your always coming with the nice parts like the never seen speaker adapter, Wow👊🏾👍🏾💯
I am doing this very soon in my GN so this is immensely helpful. Thank you.
Awesome! Glad this helped! Thanks for watching!
Thank you again for this wonderful video! I very much appreciate your input as I continue my project '78
You are welcome. Thank u for watching!
Great video took a while to find a video for what I was hoping to find and I did! Thanks
Thank you! Glad it helped.
Bet that sounds much much better!
Way better!
Added 6x9 to my Monte Carlo SS after watching this video. "Big Difference". Thanks,I did everything like you even put the hose on the torsion bars.
Where did you order yours from?
@@1speedball_
Amazon your going to like the difference
Great! I’m glad it helped! Thanks for the feedback.
This video was very helpful 👍
Glad it helped.🙏🏾
Live and learn. Didn't know that they made those adapters. 💯✌🏾
YESSUH!
I know I’m late but I’m sooooo mf glad I watched this I just ordered it
Nice job and clean car. If you ever notice any vibration between mounting surface, you can add 1/4” weather stripping to resolve the problem. Keep up the great work!
Dope! Thank u for advice!
Great video
Glad it helped!
Thanks needed this
Glad it helped!
Going to get 6x9 alpine type R's for the grand national because it have unbelievable small magnets but sound great to avoid them rods in the trunk of your car speaker magnet resting on
Good looking! Thanks for sharing! I’ll keep this in mind as well.
Thank you
You are welcome!
Cool. I always wanted to see what they looked like and how they fit.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video..
I’m as wondering how this things go.. I got a set for my 87 cutless but it didn’t come wit instructions so I have yet to put them... I’m definitely goin to do it now !! Great useful video bro!
All good man! Glad it helped!
I just subbed bro
Thank you for support!🙏🏾
Been seeing these for over 20years and didn't think they worked we just cut the hell outta the rear deck and cut out a piece of plywood to shape carpeted it and slapped 3 6x9's in it and beat down the highway!...JBL footballs were the weapon of choice back then!...
They work perfect! At least for me!
I’m looking to add another set of 6x9’s, what did you use to cut the metal rear deck?
When you mount the 4x10 to 6x9 adapter. What’s the maximum amount of depth can speaker be before i hit those cross rods? Basically what the measurement from bottom of speaker adapter to rods so i don’t end up buying a speaker that too deep (won’t fit because of depth).
You know, I’m not too sure. I don’t own the car anymore. I wish I could help more.
Great video, how did the trunk open and close after you put the 6x9s. Does it have trouble? Thanks.
No issues at all. Opens and closes just fine. Easy install and the system sounds great! Thanks for watching!
Does the bracket hit the foam surround on the 6x9? Thinking about getting some of these soon
Not at all. Great fit!
I just used these to put some infinity kappas in the back of my T. Barely fit. I'm trying to think up a way to cleanly mount some hood struts so I can ditch the torsion bars
Glad they worked out. That would be nice. Let me know what you come up with. Thanks for watching and your feedback.
Is the speaker spacer a must when using the adapter ? Looking for a pointer before the transition
Yes it is. The factory had to use a 4” wide due to the space being limited.
Clean car! What trunk carpet kit do you have? Is it the GbodyParts one? Trying to decide if I should buy a kit of just make my own when I do my system install.
Thank you! I have since sold it. I am not sure on the carpet kit. I want to say it came with the car, but I could be wrong. It was already in the car when I bought it.
Where can I find those custom rear speaker panels you mentioned???
I got them on eBay, but I’m hearing now they are harder to find and or expensive. I heard they were $80 I paid $14 last year.
What did you do to replace the look on top of the back deck? Or did i leave the hole exposed?
Not exposed. It’s the stock reck deck / package tray from the factory.
what about the dash speakers? what size can i adapt them to?
I think they are 3.5. U can put regular aftermarket ones in there. Just makes sure the tweeter isn’t too tall. The door speakers I believe are 5.25.
Whats up Bro, I was wondering do you remember where you got the wire adapters from?
Amazon, but they were the wrong ones.
@@MrGriffin23 ok thank you, I will keep looking around to see if I can find some.
Thanks a lot brotha.. helped out a lot🦾
No problem!
Hey boss, I know this video was a couple years ago but where did you get the adapters from? I have a 1984 caprice classic I’m trying to swap all speakers. It looks like you have two adapters put together to make one. Could you send me the link to get the adapters? Thank you.
I got them off eBay years ago. I think they still sell them tho. Just look up 4x10 to 6x9 Adapters.
What speakers did you use? I don’t wanna get a speaker with to big of a magnet
An older set of Alpines that the previous owner had in my Caprice. Not sure of model.
Did the bolt come with the kit if not what size and length
There are no bolts. Just adapters and mount brace/wire. You supply are own to secure 6x9s to adapter. I do not remember what size they were.
But does it vibrate? Does it sound good cuz I’m thinking of cutting a 6x9 hole..
No issues!
Can you show me the speaker adapters that you purchased for your g body six by nine
I just got them off eBay. Since then, this car has been sold!
Do you have a link to where to find them adapters
www.ebay.com/itm/131726727994
i didnt realized about them brackets i recently but some screws hate it how it look i seen this video bought me some brackets
Such an easy upgrade!
Did your bars in the trunk get in the way?
Just cleared
Did that spacer ring have to be bought separately?
You have to order that separate.
@@MrGriffin23 I ordered my speakers before researching if I may have clearance issues lol
Is there a reason why someone would buy 6x9 speakers versus new 4x10 speakers?
Too my understanding due to the design and how narrow they are they just don’t produce as good of sound as a 6x9 does. I’ve had several and I’ve never had luck with 4x10s. They do make some that sound good, but might as well spend the money to get the 6x9s if available.
Im doin this i agree 4x10s terrible idea from factory
Coo! Keep me posted!
Does anyone know why they discontinued the product??
Shouldn’t be discontinued. Many suppliers cart them.
www.ebay.com/itm/131726727994
What happens if your magnet is too large and hits those bars that’s what is happening with mine
Definitely depends on the speakers as they are all different.
What is the part number for those adapters on Amazon?
eBay. Not sure if part number. Can search them by name.
@@MrGriffin23 ok thanks
6 months later I went to install these adapters and the wire anchor on one side snapped on my in the process. 🤦
Dang really? You get it installed?
@@MrGriffin23 I got it in. I had to use a coat hanger.
Where did you get the spacers
eBay
@@MrGriffin23 are they 1” ?
@@BighomieSuge 1”?
There is adapter from 6.5 to 6x9?
Good question! I’m not sure!
Can't find these adapters anywhere for a decent price
I’m not sure why the prices raised. I just got them on eBay.
@@MrGriffin23 yeah. Every one I seen is 85-90 bucks. Smh
Oh wow! I got mine for like $15. That’s crazy.
I wish the guy I bought my cutlass from did this instead of cutting big ol holes in the rear deck 🤦🏻♂️
Man! That’s sucks! This definitely made the job cleaner and easier.
