For the ones asking about why of each sword:
Inuyasha needed protection, being a hanyou (half-demon) and completely human on new moon nights, so his father inherited him with Tetsusaiga.
Sesshoumaru was the first born and heir to a vast kingdom and became arrogant, he doesn't need a sword to rule them all, but he was inherited a sword that could only bring back from the dead. So he would empathize and do acts of kindness with no rewards.

A theory is that their father KNEW how violent and cruel Sesshomaru could be and KNEW his son would try to kill Inuyasha. So by giving him THAT sword he was hoping to teach him humility, while the Tessaiga would not only protect Inuyasha but harness his demon side so it wouldn't overpower his human.
Actually, you're both right. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru's father had them inherited different swords to teach them compassion and understanding. Something they both lacked in different ways. He also wished for them not to kill each other hence the reason Sesshomaru's sword saved him and acting on it's own accord when inuyasha used the wind scar on him.
Here's what I don't understand though... So Inu no Taishou was actually a pretty good guy and Sesshoumaru's mother was actually a nice lady deep down. Why on Earth did they name their son "destruction of life"??? lmao

pupu830 I always assumed that like with real dogs, it's pretty common for dog demons to have multiple mates who they're not really involved with, but then that brings up a bunch of other questions, like why did Inu no Taishou seem to want to be exclusive with Izayoi when monogamy isn't really practiced in his culture? Do Inuyasha amd Sesshoumaru have other siblings they don't know about? If not, why not? Or maybe Inu no Taishou didn't cheat and doesn't practice polyamory - he and Sesshoumaru's mom broke up before Taishou met Izayoi. In that case, it would make sense that he only had two offspring, but what happened that made the parents break up? Lots of unanswered questions. lol
I recently have been rewatching InuYacha and came across this video by accident. I have read some theories about what happened between Sesshomaru's parents. 1. Their marriage is possibly arranged, and the two families tried to increase their power by their marriage. 2. Sesshomaru's mother is such a prefect character, just as prefect as his dad. When 2 people are alike 100%, the relationship usually doesn't last very long. 3. Izayoi is the opposite of Sesshomaru's mother, she is a weak human, she is obedient. Inu no Taishou protected her. 4. It is also possible that Inu no Taishou loved them both, it is very common for a man to have multiple wives in ancient East Asia (China, Japan, Korea). InuYacha inherited (represented) his father's love triangle, Kagome and Kikyo. Sesshomaru ended up with Rin, a human he despised the most at the beginning.

To me through out the anime Sesshomaru's face looked like it was starting to relax. In the very beginning his eyes looked more narrow and he looked extremely serious but as the series continued his eyes looked like they opened a bit more and he looked somewhat at peace (and especially with Rin accompanying him)

He obviously felt snub that his father gave inuyasha the tensusaga and didn't understand his father dessire to to respect life and having compassion. He was obsess with power and wanted to be stronger then his dad who he admire. As his relationship with Rin develop he begins to see his error and grows as a person and in reality becomes stronger because it take strength to be able to be compassionate and to live for more then yourself.

Here are more fact about me, before the start of the series I would often times toy with my enemies especially humans killing them slowly while mocking them. I never seen Inuyasha's human form till much later (after the series). InuYasha has 3 different scents, human, half demon, and demon. The only reason I lost to InuYasha is because I didn't think he would be capable of using Tessaiga and I was caught of guard.
Sesshomaru wrong. In the manga he knew that hanyous had a day where they turned into a human.
Sesshomaru also had the biggest character development in all of Inuyasha.

Just finished Inuyasha final act finally and I’m over here in tears, felt like my childhood left with that, seeing Inuyasha happy with Kagome wearing the same type of clothes as Kikyō, was symbolic and beautiful, Sesshomaru bringing Rin clothes and everyone just happy, finally, peace.

A cruel woman wouldn't bring Rin back to life. Cruelty would have left Rin corpse to rot on the ground. But she did it to make her son happy
His mother is probably much a self-serving demon like all other demons who lack human feelings like compassion and empathy. But she cares for her son like all mothers would, demon or human. She probably only helped to revive Rin to make Sesshomaru happy, not because she really cares about humans.

The game isn't actually canon as there are plot points which contradict both the anime and the manga.
Fun fact, the second kanji of Sesshoumaru and the second kanji it tenseiga are the same. I had stickers I made intersecting the words when I was a kid
