"You will find me to be your most capable officer." No kidding. He literally learns how to be a good Dad, a good partner, a loyal friend, a crewmate, a great scientist, and a Doctor, once he's Matrix'ed the data into himself. The only problem is his logical way of thinking had him kill himself as a solution. He may be capable, but he still has so much to learn that we learn growing up and take for granted.
As Clair said, he is very impressionable, all thanks to his logical way of thinking. So you gotta be careful with the advice you give him, or he could end up doing something wrong, such as offing himself as a solution to social issues on the ship based around his species and him being there
His suicide was completely rational. He may be THE most capable officer, but he isn't more capable than the entire ship, whos efficiency took a nosedive after everything. Collectively improving their efficiency by eliminating himself would likely have increased overall operational efficiency in a manner that doing anything else would be illogical and in direct conflict with his programming
Mercer: "Aren't you guys legendarily racist?" Isaac: "We are not racist! We just rebelled against our creator race and killed them off!!" (Opening monologue: The Kaylons were created by a biological race. They evolved. They rebelled and killed off their creators. There are multiple copies. And they have a plan!)
even more interesting is the development of his role can be viewed as issac becoming more human, fluid and capable of being more than just the robot he was made as.
Pretty sure they wanted to make a straight up Star Trek like but the pitch wasn't working so they made it a comedy to get funded and slowly made it more serious overtime. Not to say they didn't want any humor originally. Most Star Trek series have a fair amount of humor to them even ignoring the unintentional humor of some of the less good filler episodes or special effects failure.
@@Gothic7876 right, because there’s no way that it wasn’t planned. Writers never think of new ideas or plotlines as shows progress, everything is always planned during the first season
Their creators, who as would be revealed decided the best means for controlling their newly-sentient robots would be torture devices to force compliance. This ended... Poorly.
I love how this is the equivalent of a cylon from battle star galactica just randomly apearing to be a comander in the enterprise XD the captain would be like “so….. didnt you all guys tried to extinguish all human life ?…. -Well yes. -k welcome aboard!
I'm gonna be real if I was captain and had a Kaylon as a part of my crew, it'd be really hard for me to not show favoritism. A near immortal, near indestructible supersoldier/supercomputer who finds my human weirdness amusing.
he wasn't kidding; he literally saved the entire union from the kaylon menace; the foreshadowing here is great
Yeah but the only reason he did that was bc he fucked them over
The long term storytelling is suprisingly so good. Seth was actually making this show with such great passion
@@johans3164 It's his passion project.

Also he's potentially the greatest prankster in the fleet.
Isaac is like that guy who could walk up to you and straight up tell you that he despises you. Never have to second guess
honesty is the best policy

hey, that's a Battlestar Galactica reference.

All that's needed is Tricia Helfer strolling about the set 😂
Can't be racist against a race that doesn't exist

It's interesting to see how Jackson refines Isaac's movements over the years. He became much move fluid in the arms and head.

The start of the greatest love story in sci-fi history!
i thought silence of the lambs was the book not movie as they are completely different
🤖♥️🤖
The most horrifying dad in history do not anger robo dad he has eye lasers.
I love how this started as a one of joke and then developed into something bigger
Almost as if it wasn’t a one off joke and was planned from the start.

At 0:15 Issaic describing his race sounds like a planet full of Soundwave's from Transformers
I KNEW there was a reason Isaac was my favourite character
(Soundwave is my favourite Decepticon and Cybertronian)
Optimuse's favourite alien planet: Earth
Megatron's favourite alien planet: Kaylon
The first thing I c when opening up UA-cam is "aren't you guys legendary racist" is funny
Looks like i have competition lol
“Aren’t you guy’s legendary racists?”
Humans aren’t one to talk, man…
If the human species known for racism, calls another race "legendary racists" then humanity better step up their game fam.
The title is funny 😂😂😂
The word Legendary
😂😂😂
The kaylons got it, if someone walks up to you and asks you if you are racist, the correct answer is always "yes!"
Who tf programmed the Kaylon to be so racially motivated????

Aaaaah, why did this pop up when i searched the orvill and ben 10?
Nice to know there's still racism in the FUTURE
A tactless word on Ed’s part, but we learn why the kaylon bias against other species.
@sameaston9587 still kinda racism. Doesn't matter if there's a reason

The very first episode on The Orville
