I've seen way too many parents like this who are like "what? not my kid!" So I took pleasure in this fiction where a robot smacks them down. If only there was an Isaac in every school.
It’s actually a very good move in terms of therapy in general. It’s like what Jerry said in Rick and Morty: “trying to relax” is a paradox. If someone is in a stressed state, it’s smart to try and think of a method of calming down to ask them to do, rather than just say “calm down”. I just realized, it’s the same when someone responds to a request for aid on something they find challenging with “just do it better”, or “get good”. That’s not actually constructive or helpful, so all it does is annoy the person receiving the message
Honestly don’t tell anyone to calm down, it’s insulting to everyone. By telling someone to calm down you are telling them “your feelings and your reactions are invalid and you need to keep quiet”
Never tell ANYONE to calm down. It doesn't work well with anyone, man or woman. It's also worth noting that making unfounded accusations against women of being "irrational" "emotional" "hysterical" or whatever has been a classic sexist method of dismissing legitimate grievances and arguments made by women. There is no scientific basis to say that women are less capable of making rational decisions than men. Women are actually in many ways better, because they are much more risk averse than men.
Wow. Seeing these older clips and the newer ones really shows how much better the costume and set designs have gotten, and they were good to start with.
I imagine it would go something along the lines of “I do not have a foundation with which to properly categorize your effectiveness as a parent Doctor. However given my observations of your interactions with your son and his behavior with respect to the ship and crew, I do not see sufficient evidence to conclude that you are inadequate parental figure”
As the concept goes “justice is blind”. Who better to help find the truth than a being who’s design is based around sheer logic, not bias. If Isaac is asked to uncover the truth, he will accept no bribes, nor any other persuasion but sheer facts. You also can’t accuse someone like him of favoritism, because he doesn’t even know what that is.
Kinda, because his people do "fear" biologicals and have a collective trauma from it. His people acted on a type of fear and bias. Are logic and emotion truly separate things, how so if they arrive to similar conclusions?
Should he be a Constable, like Odo, "whose only master was the truth"? "Nathan and Jody" are the most awesomely awful parents EVER. It must have been fun for the actors to play them! We've all known people like that. I just love that scene - when they get crushed. 🤭
I taught high school math for a few years. Nathan & Jody's case is too common. They're a power couple whose focus on their careers could split atoms. Their neglect inspires both the emotional need from their son to seek their attention, & the parents' willful blindness to the need to discipline that son. Such discipline would be a distraction from their focus on professional achievement, & it's easier to ignore the problem than it is to recognize it, own the fact that their inattention caused it, & take time to correct the situation. Such dynamics invariably escalate until the problem becomes too severe to ignore. Those 2 owe Isaac their gratitude, for standing up and pointing out the problem they didn't want to see.

Some viewers might not realize alterations have been made if you don’t tell them. Again let me say I really enjoyed the humor and creativity of what you did and that is at least partly because I am so familiar with the original scenes and unaltered dialogue.
