Point to Point Navigation is a very weak sequel to Palimpsest (his first memoir). It might not seem so bad if read in isolation from Plaimpsest, so maybe read it first if you don't want to hate. The book came out when he had already made that kind of alcohol-bathed conspiratorial turn late in life.
Walpole was a prolific writer, and, generally, a financial and critical success, if somewhat averse to caution and revision. His historical novels gallop right along, and certainly are readable, and it’s only at the end that you think, Wait, that’s not quite right for 17- -. For his time, he was relatively unshy about his sexuality, although, for all the obvious reasons, it doesn’t factor in his writing. He died fairly young-57.
I hope you enjoy the Bostonians! It was an excellent read for me--but I suspect that was partly because early feminism, post-CW regionalism in America, and Boston Marriages are all special academic interests to me. Am I remembering that you read and enjoyed Henry James's Washington Square? I think you are the reader who put it on my list (or rather, up higher on my list than it was before)--but perhaps I am wrong.
Can’t wait for your further coverage on Trump-Harris… (not), but you are looking like a handsome devil in this video! Haha. The hair and the turtleneck!
Misery enjoys company so I'll join your dismay at family members reading the Daily Mail with my family members who daily watch Fox and believe all that spews from this outlet.
Delighted to find a man who reads real books.

@@vesch5083 Fox News has leavened its output over the last few weeks and months. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at their progress!
