Joe! You did not mention when talking about 'A House of Cards' that you know the original British series from the 1990s, of which the American one is but a poor imitation. It centres on Sir Francis Urquhart (FU) who makes it his mission to govern for longer than Maggie Thatcher did (who in this universe died in office after decades in the office...). You will love it, I am sure (there are only three shortish seasons, I think). It is based on a novel - or series of novels - by Michael Dobbs, but I've never read him.
Deus ex machina is a wonderful invention, but unfortunately misused and really easy to become inverted to trope. The Spanish Inquisition sketches are wonderful examples of it.
I am trying to read books as I've planned, however, some French just pop up, so a slight delay in my plans will probably be inevitable. Meanwhile, I am fighting/avoiding some murder attempts, and some devious international villanous plots, with intention of ruining my future, life, and my health, among other things planned. It is not all about me, after all 😂. Seriously, I am cooking my vegetable favorites and reading pure fiction this November. I will probably continue nurturing this great habits in December as well.
Reading: Loving Sylvia Plath by Emily Van Duyne, Dream Story by Arthur Schnitzler, and going on to 'Journey by Moonlight' by Antal Szerb Watching: Law and Order: SVU, and lots of Documentaries Listening: Ear Biscuits podcast, History of Literature pod, You're Dead to Me pod, Betwixt the Sheets pod, and other such things. Writing: Poetry, Poetry, Poetry.
I am currently reading Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. I have never read a western, and apparently this is the premier western, perhaps ever written. I have enjoyed it so far. It is very long.
Are you doing anything special for your 200th video? It sounded like it won't be about the Austrian man. I got a few WWI books I didn't finish yet because they were a bit tedious. I will dig them out later and maybe you know them. Happy birthday to your gran!
Happy Birthday to your dear grandmother. I hope you have a lovely celebration with her!

I love it when you guys point out deeper coves of discovery! I’ll look into it!

You and your BLOODY poetry!
@ Haha! ALWAYS!
I’m currently reading An Ordinary Person’s Guide to Empire by Arundhati Roy. With trump as president we no longer have to pretend we’re not an empire.

Just how long is long? Are we north of 500 pages?
@@JoeSpivey02 Yes. 945 pages. It's a mass market paperback size, but the font is still very small.
True Grit by Charles Portis is also great.

Malteser in the US are called Whoopers. At least those are the closest candy to compare
Happy birthday to your gran
I'm sure they're heavier and stickier in the States!

Nothing special planned. When one's channel amasses the age that mine has, milestones don't hold quite the hold same significance hehe
Of what does sexual malpractice consist?
Unwanted intensity...an unwillingness to take "no" for an answer...heavy petting...
