Flick has already fixed the pressing phase perfectly: when a fullback pushes high to press, the center-back covers the winger, and the pivot drops to cover the center-back. This slows down the attack, and one midfielder drops to become the lone pivot. Flickball, in two words, is relentless and unstoppable-ready to build a dynasty at Barcelona, making them feared again.
If the center backs pick up the winger and a pivot drops in, not only does the midfield get weaker, but if any one of the new back three of the center backs and a pivot get beat, then barcelona will be torn apart
@@BurnPlayz-bm6jsDefending was never really a fearsome attribute of Flick's Bayern for example, which this Barça is basically an upgraded remake of. But the thing is brilliant attacks often overshadow the goals they might concede. Basically, outscoring your opponents. In the infamous Barça match he did concede 2 but netted 8 in response. Catch up if you can😂
One important thing you left out is, the team's chemistry & the interconnection of telepathic game play. Dani Olmo is his second game at Barca, but he plays and fits into the team like he's been playing for years at the club. And it's not only Olmo, there's Bernal, Casado, Curbasi, Iñigo, Raphinha & Yamal. The understanding between these players on the pitch it's like they've been playing together for years when in reality some of them it's 1st, 2nd or 3rd season playing at Barca. When you have your team's and players in sync with one another, regardless who's on the pitch that's dangerous and venomous to the opposite teams
The first player Hansi Flick wanted Barcelona to sign for his squad was Dani Olmo whereas us majority of Barcelona fans, Barcelona board and Laporta we wanted Nico Williams. I guess Flick was observing Dani Olmo for a long time while he was still playing in Germany.
Let’s give some credit to Xavi as well for coaching the core of this team for a couple of seasons and building that chemistry that we now see bear fruit.
Its because of la masia the style the first team play is similar to what the youth teams play like to when the young talent get the chance to olay first team its easy to adapt
One thing about flick football is high risk high reward. Take the second season with Bayern, the opposite side will almost always score the first goal. But as a fan I never cared that we conceded the goal coz we are going to smash them. That feel in itself is something the absolute joy about the way your team is playing. Even in the loss with PSG I can say a bayern fan can hold their heads high because we played well and lost. If we would compromise on how we play then we also lose the joy of absolute rockmetal attacking football
I’ll just ask again. Don’t be too excited and expect every title right now. What Flick is doing with this squad, considering this is his first year, the lack of squad depth, lack of new transfers, the overall heritage he was given to work with, considering all that, it’s already amazing. With time, these players can only get better and better. Even if we don’t win a single title, I’m happy as long as I see my team pressing hard, pushing for goals, and showing heart and determination. Things we haven’t seen since 2015. Messi has carried this team on his back far too long. It’s made too many players around him lazy and uninvolved. Time to go back to the roots and work collectively.
In 22-23 we didn't press hard in order to win the league? I agree with you about high expectations, but Xavi has left a good base for Flick to pick up from Cubarsi, Balde, Lamine Yamal even Kounde would not be performing this good if it wasn't for the work of Xavi. And Messi didn't make the players around him lazy. He along with Suarez, Pique Rakitic etc had so much power that Valverde had to train less and come up with a more counter attacking style and dependence on Messi.
Same with Inter, Besiktas and Chelsea. They they will destroy all Bundesliga teams in the last 6 years, if you don't ask me and Jürgen Klopp can't change anything about it, as Euro is starting soon
Yeah by ghosting in 2020 and dragged the team down 8-2 🤣🤣🤣 His excessive salary was what drowed the whole club 🤣🤣 The deadgrandmotheressi glazing is crazy!!
10:30 just a bit of my 2 cents, I think that the preseason matches against Real Madrid and Man City are better indicators of how Flick intends to press against teams with good fullbacks and great proficiency playing through a press. It's like that the pressing structure we have seen so far in La Liga is simply a calculated gamble based on Flicks understanding of the opponents capabilities.
Hansi in one of his media briefing said that he implement his tactics according to how opponents play and capabilities. He said this after one the journalist wanted to know his tactics at Barcelona.
yeah if he played against vallecano the way he played against madrid and city, there would never be a 7-0. similarly, they'd get spanked playing the vallecano way against city and madrid
That would be great news. Because this style works well against teams you are much better, but can be dangerous against elite teams that can destroy you in 10mins. It used to happened to Xavi in some games with the defense line in the half line, and Vinicius or Rodrigo just running to the space
Another advantage flick has is he longer has the oldee golden generation players that could only comfortably play the "barca way" this means implementing his philosophy is easier compared to previous coaches.. The new & young players will understand his system better.
Kinda sucks, flick needs to understand his place and that the club comes first, the kids can’t forget the Barca way Edit: op misunderstood, sure flick is doing it his way but his way fits the Barca way
@Deathmare235 new approach is not necessarily discarding barca way. I think tito and luis enrique adopted raically different techniques, and because very successful while also being added to the barca repertoire
Cubarsi alone is integral, you effectively get a bonus playmaker you would expect to be in midfield but hes usually among the 3 furthest back. He is incredibly press resistant already and with his ability to distribute long range passes to any location on the field you cannot commit players from deeper positions to cut a pass as you will just leave a gaping hole for a runner to exploit. Without him Flicks job would be harder (ask xavi before January)
Hansi flick is a attack minded coach under bayern in first season we had early sign's of his false in defense but in the second season all team overcame his defense and he had adapted from that and he is learning fastly u can see that is the third match comparing with second and only coming with bigger teams we can only see is his highline pressing is worth it or not his quote is it “u come and score 2 we will score 4“
This is a good assessment of what we've seen so far from Barca under Flick in La Liga. The last time we've seen such a vertical/direct Barca was under Lucho when he had MSN. That space down the flanks behind the fullbacks is indeed of high concern. Martinez's left foot and ability on the ball are appreciated. Once everyone is fit, I think that's where the speed, power, and ball winning ability of Araujo becomes important as the safety to sweep. I'm looking forward to our evolution under Flick.
I think aurajo will struggle to get into the first eleven because flick prefers his defenders to have incredible ball playing abilities, and in this team curbasi, dominiguez and Martinez are all better than him
@edsonmawalla4203 they might all be better ball players than him, but I'm certain Araujo will waltz into that team when fully fit. His physicality and speed and 1v1 ability are just too good to ignore. Worst case scenario, he replaces Kounde at rb.
@@thomasozoalor844 firstly him bieng good one on one is no use in flick's system which wants incredible ball playing defenders. Secondly, aurajo can't replace kounde because he lacks kounde's ball saying abilities. Aurajo is a very good defender but in the current system he doesn't fit
@@edsonmawalla4203 there's no ball-playing ability when it concerns Kounde, bro. The game before last, he had a passing accuracy of 83% even while playing nothing but sideways and backwards passes. Secondly, he does not scare attackers one bit. They're always eager to drive at him because all he does is track backwards and hope to get a block in when/if they cross the ball. So, yeah, easy replacement if the coach decides to weigh him against Araujo. Remember we all saw Araujo for a bit at RB under Koeman. Way better than Kounde both going forward and defending. And what on earth do you mean we don't need a strong 1v1 defender because of a system?
@@thomasozoalor844 you can try all you want but the fact is that kounde is a better ball playing defender than aurajo and that's a fact. You can come up with all the percentages you want but the fact is that aurajo is lacking in that area and that's why he has no place in this system
4:57 this is how Lewy had always been, but he was having first touch issues when he joined. Now so far this season he seems flawless, back to the Lewy of Flick Bayern era and even Pep era.
I can say I couldn't wait for a proper analysis from FOOTBALL MADE SIMPLE, you're a Goat analyst bro, your speed of narration is just like Flick's direct approach.
I like the direction Flick is taking with Barca. I enjoyed watching his Bayern M side when he was there. With more games the players will improve on the pressing and defensive side of his strategy. I just hope players stay injury free and the injured players recover soon. It was sad to see Bernal get injured long term. The kid looked like reincarnation of Busquets at just 17 years old. I can't wait to see Gavi play under Flick.
I think there is still room for improvement and am sure he will change the pressing shape. What is even scary is that Barcelona doesn't have Gavi, Frenkie, Araujo, Christiensen and a lot of the senior players. Flick also hasn't been giving any of his requested signings. Imagine how this team will look with the injured players back and a couple of signings for depth. Great analysis.
You mean Kimmich and Tah ..... And I hope Barca somehow signs Haaland in 1-2 years. Coz a report says that Erling ain't that happy at City and want a 120 mil release clause, which is too low these days. And it points directly to Barca. Coz he won't go to any other PL team . RM don't need him. Similar is the case for Serie A teams. That leaves only Bayern and Barca on the table. And having left Bundesliga and seeing Flick, I think he wants Barca somewhere. Coz he knows Balon d'or lies in La Liga only 😎😎
How the pressing will work imo. Against smaller teams you press relentlessly & high up the pitch leaving spaces but capitalizing on the inability of weaker teams to counter attack. Against bigger teams use shadow pressing to cut passing lanes still high up the pitch but not as aggressive because then bigger teams with pacy wingers will be problematic
One of the purpose of Hansi team pressing is to control opponents on where to play the ball usually its start when the opponent goalkeeper has the ball, Raphniah or Yamal will him while one of the opponent CB is free so that he can receive the ball to try to launch the attack through his flank. Let's say we play Real Madrid, Yamal will press its goalkeeper towards Carvajal who will be left free so that he think he can launch attack on his flank, which is a trap.
@@williamkgasi6258But you cannot press Madrid that way. They are too good in transitions. One mistake & they'll use the spaces left to counter attack and kill the game
Liverpools playing some majestic football as an outsider looking in i must say i like what i see. Makes you wonder how both our teams will look with more time
Thank you someone has moved from what is in our minds vs what Flick is doing…. Flick is playing more of a hybrid 4-3-3 but with the CMs dropping to help the lone CDM that then becomes a 4-2-3-1
@@Picci_calcio Go and see Man’s u 4-2-3-1 and see if its the same…….or the Germany’ s 4-2-3-1 and see…it depends if you deploy 2 DMs it becomes a traditional 4-2-3-1 but if you deploy 1DM and then a CM to play as a supporting DM it becomes a hybrid like what Spain was doing and what Flick is doing now…..but with Spain Olmo was playing as a AM but under Flick as an advanced CM
@@mulla2713 You're right, there's a difference between the teams you mentioned, but system of play is not the reason why. Teams change shape all the time, especially with the ball. In a three-man midfield (whether 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3), during the build up for example, the shape depends on the opponent, sometimes one DM is enough, other times one midfielder(AM or CM) has to drop back to create numerical superiority. So it's always a mix between 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3. Offensive dynamics are now too fluid to be confined within a system of play that is inherently rigid. It's the principles of play that matters
Barcelona being all 433 throughout the history is a myth. Cruyff used to play a 442 diamond or 352 with Koeman as the libero. Koeman played a 352 many times. Xavi played his own 433-343 hybrid. Even Pep at City right now plays a 4213 with a double pivot and KDB as OM.
thanks to flick for its game but huge thanks must be given to xavi on rapha and kounde. he tried raphinha almost in every position rw, lw, cam, cm, lb and eventually he saw the problem w/ rapha that it's not about his position but handling the ball. he did let rapha touch the ball only once except he's wide open to the goal where he's making 3 touch at most. while on kounde, he forced him to the get into the opp. box while christensen and pedri protect the back. by this way, yamal finds a space to cut inside so he can make finesse shot or crosses. flick add speed and high quality pressing to the game but attack formation still depends on xavi's logic. for defensive side, barcelona never cared about defense but making a goal. last year if lewa met the expectations, barca would be able to see the cl final or be the laliga's champion. i remembered his huge misses against psg, girona, or granada.
Well, in his Bayern era the philosophy was to make more goals than the ones they score you, have pressure on the opponent the whole game and make as many shots for goal possible.
Yes, this what even players like Coutinho and Kimmich said, they had worrying defense but they didn't bother because they knew they were always going to score more goals than their opponents
Would barely say this transformation is scary. Any Bayern fan will tell you this was to be expected. It is however, impressive given Barca's financial issues. I'd wait to see his team's performance in the CL where this time out, competition is more fierce and the amount of games everyone has to play now will surely lead to more issues as the season progresses.
5:34 because they have the speed and youth to do it, they are also the first line to press while Lewy drops back in to the second line of press, this preserves him.
They have a prolific box crasher from midfield in olmo who can score goals easily for them due to all the attention on the forwards. Real Madrid also has their own in the form of Bellingham. Will be interesting to see how they counter each other’s box crasher when they face each other.
I wouldn't say it's scary. It's very promising, but i'm waiting to see how we stack against bigger rivals, like Atletico, Real, or teams like Arsenal or City which are very good tactically. You could say Athletic is a very tough team to play against, and i agree, but they were VERY lucklaster compared to normal. My other concern is, you can't overcome in two months the physical lackingness we had for years. Sooner or later we will run out of fuel. We barely run anything at all in last years, and now they're expected to run at least thrice the time. I just don't think we will have power to maintain it, especially with how injuries happen all the time.
I wouldn't say it would take that long for the team to get to that level physically, under koeman and Valverde we didn't pay much attention to physical preparation, but under Xavi we did see improvement in training but still wasn't at the elite level which is why we dropped off after 60 or 70 minutes, we were the highest pressing team in Europe at one point under xavi, but under flick the whole focus is on physical preparation and we can already see, last season we could visibly see players tired and not able to track back or defend after the 70th minute, but now they are running for the whole 90 mins even the opposition players seemed tired by that point but our players don't seem to be falling on the ground running out of breath like they used to in previous seasons towards the end of the game, but ofcourse, playing at this intensity it's impossible to maintain freshness if flick doesn't do enough rotations and giving players rest, and apart from lamine in the 1st 4 games, flick has shown he is willing to rotate players and give them rest. That's going to be the litmus test and how flick handles the fitness of the squad in a long season
@@akashm8358based on your analysis which I really appreciate, Flick's philosophy quite puts Barca at higher risk of having multiple injuries for very long time
Flick kinda fixed this problem, in the game against Villareal, he moved Cubarsi and Iñigo higher up, with Iñigo controlling the line and cutting the options for passes, because the strikers were offside, that's why that game had so many offsides, because the fullbacks are so close to the midfield, that they cut the possibilities for deep passes, brilliant.
It's still September, and there were only 4 games without real tests. Once the UCL starts, Cups and stronger matches in league, and we will see how strong Barcelona really is. For now, it's early to say. Hopefully, they will stay strong and have great campaign this season. Most of the trophies are won between February and June, not in September. All of these players need to stay healthy. They need to improve and keep consistency. As a Real Madrid fan, I'm excited to see Barcelona playing well, which could be extra motivation for Madrid to improve and play better. We can have real competition and better matches. Hopefully, Barcelona will not crumble mentally and physically and keep pushing the whole season long.
6:42 this is what confused me about Xavi's Barça.. THIS IS EXACTLY HOW PEP PLAYED. The big problem with Barça attack for awhile now why there were so many back passes and no chances created was the FACT the players were TOO STATIC. They werent constantly moving in to spaces to receive passes. One of the first things I noticed pre-season was THE MANY SHORT TRIANGLES, isnt that Barça DNA!! Flick KNOWS Barça that is why he was able to destroy it! Now he will try to fix the problems in the system and this Barça could become better than his Bayern.
He already sorted out the the defense issue and the solution is the offside trap, it works so we use it, and he intentionally leaves the spaces out wide for the other teams to attack so that once we win it back, we are able to transition easily, that is why Yamal has so many 1 v 1's. It's pretty smart when you think about it. You cant stop the opponent from attacking, but you can influence where they attack. And given the fact that with our full squad that is the harder side to exploit, it's gonna get us some trophies. Add Araujo to that right side with the work Kounde has done, and you understand what flick is doing.
1:51 this is a problem and we already saw a goal as a result. It was Martin at the time, he went high to press a high diagonal back pass to the opposition either RW or RB. The RB headed the ball over Martin in to the space behind him. Inigo not fast enough to close the player down, ball comes across and goal. This is the real vulnerability of this attack shape. Only solution I see is the full backs should not press that high in to the opposition half, let the wingers do that. But Flick has a 2 2 2 narrow press, so this why the full backs get involved on the wings.
Mathematically, a football team always is one player short, compared to the tasks and the area. This is why one can't have a strong defense, midfield and offense all at the same time. This is the built-in mechanism that ensures each coach has to make individual sacrifices and that is the little secret, why this game is so exciting..
Exactly my sentiments, we should not start any jubilation now for this little improvement, we are yet to face the real test that will either expose us or prove our strength.. let's have our fingers crossed until 18 September where we will face our lifelong enemy Bayern
This is the best Flick Barca video I’ve seen so far. Very well said about the fluid and the potential risks. I hope Flick could get you as one of his coaches 🎉
Actually i am waiting for this game with all eagerness to make proper conclusion about Flick's philosophy if it is really going to make Barca scary again.
Still in pre season the press was not that high against Man City and the team looked really compact, yet even in this systeme with the kind of araujo and cristensen coming back defensive transitions will be better + and also with gavi dropping off between centre backs to cover
Happy to see the progress you've made with your channel, your animations have improved greatly too, and you're always on top of things in terms of tactics - well thought of, and accurate. Keep it up, bro.
3:47 this is the reality of Raphinha and Xavi missed. At Leeds, he was the 10, not only that he wore 10 shirt but he was the playmaker. Although he lined up from the right, he had freedom to MOVE INSIDE TO CREATE and/or shoot. Raphinha DOES NOT have pace WITH the ball, he has pace WITHOUT the ball. This is how he has scored majority of his Barça goals, RUNNING IN TO SPACE WITHOUT THE BALL. When he has the ball, he uses his intelligence to make a play, be it a pre-pass for an assist or an assist, we have seen this few times already THIS season. 1v1 skills is HECK NO.
Raphinha is NOT the typical Brazilian we have come to know, even through the ones that have passed through Barça. The only one he is most comparable to is his fellow left footed compatriot.... RIVALDO. Though Rivaldo had 1v1 skills, they are typically the same. Not much pace, but VERY INTELLIGENT ON THE BALL. I know this very well because as a Brazil fan, it was Rivaldo that made me start to take note of and watch Barça, though I became a fan and left Liverpool when Ronaldinho joined the club.
I remember once i said in a comment section 2 years ago raphinha can score goals and he is fast but too predictable in wings he can’t compete to a 16 y.o kid. He is number 10 and need to play deeper in not on the wings as torres is as coutinho and felix and griezman was.
Improving our defense really depends on injury recoveries of Araújo, Christensen, and Frenkie de Jong. If we play Christensen as a pivot, he could really solidify our defense. When opponents are on the counter-attack, Christensen can drop back to join Araújo and Curubasi, creating an extra center-back and closing down space for the attackers. Balde’s speed will help him get back to his full-back spot quickly, forming a solid back line with Balde, Christensen, Curubasi, and Araújo. Meanwhile, Koundé can drop into a defensive midfield role and use his ball playing skills to help with transitions. This setup won’t guarantee perfect defense, but it should definitely cut down on counter-attack threats. Frenkie is more attack-minded and can occasionally play as a pivot to add some midfield depth to the team, but Christensen is the better option for a defensive pivot role. With Gavi’s work rate and versatility added to the mix, we'll have a much stronger balance between defense and attack. Of course, this all hinges on keeping our players fit and available!
The press will be even better with Gavi fit and Fermin off the bench, as well as Ferran, Pau Victor, and Ansu all eagerly waiting to come on and run their socks off… not to mention to pace of Araujo to defend the transition / wide areas and the elite game-reading ability of Christensen to step before the ball can be played over the top. A significant part of Flick’s game plan that you forgot to mention is his willingness to play the offside trap. A back four of Balde-Christensen/cubarsi-Araujo-Kounde has enough pace and chemistry to effectively hold this high line and break up any threat that rarely gets past the front four-man press. If he can continue to get his players to play the way he intends, and keeps his players fit and firing, this Barcelona team will be scary, domestically and in Europe!
one very good thing I liked about this team is, he is not even using all the main players, most of them are recovering from injuries, he is giving so much confidence to the bench/la masia players, Flick is making sure to bring up the full capacity of all players...this will help the team in the long term
I think this effects are for temporary as time passes mangers come with solution to this tactic, i think flick is doing do or die plans for his team, no big players. He uses yamal raphinha kounde balde of their pace and all others of thier technical ability plus goal scoring ability of lewandowski, he is making space in front for his striker or winger which is a class act.
4:39 yup, the BIG MISTAKE Xavi kept making with Raphinha and well Barça overall. Barça is a possessional team is it confused the heck out of me why he kept wanting to have width on both wings. I understand ok he was trying to spread defenses to create space inside, BUT HE WAS A MASTER OF TIGHT SPACES AS A MIDFIELDER. Barça success came from player INSIDE with support on wings from either Alba & Dani or Pedro, Henry, Villa. Now, when you give Raphinha FREEDOM to play inside, you get the best out of his NATURAL QUALITIES. Now it wont matter where he plays!
I will go as far as say, if Ansu doesn't wake up over the next 6 months, he will be loaned out in January and most likely sold in summer. With him gone and 10 available, I would give it to Raphinha and not Olmo. Yes Olmo is very versatile, better at 1v1, good playmaker, good shot with both foot but I doubt he a better playmaker and more versatile like Raphinha who can excel in all 3 forward positions, maybe even the CF one as well. But because Olmo is Masia, he may get it over Raph and I wouldnt have a problem with it.
Barca about to get the Bayern dominance. As a Real fan, this excites me. We need our rivals to rise and match the Real dominance. Looking forward to this
@@Boost400And robbing btw, like last year and the previous, which were insane. Real Madrid plays boring as football, just like England or France. Mediocre football that makes them win, and when they cant win, some weird calls are made and everything fine. Or a goalkeeper just slips.
The game against girona will be the true indication of how flick's barca will be going forward michel tactically outclassed xavi last season lets see how flick fares up
@@mwakipesilejemz8772it was the players who made mistakes. Both Girona matches xG of Barca was way higher than Girona’s. In December the players were underperforming, even Pep Guardiola said players need to show up and Xavi announcing his resignation gave players the much needed motivation , and thereafter run was good till Ucl defeat. The next Girona match was immediately after loss to Real Madrid, which was after embarrassing Ucl knockout defeat due to red card. All these series of events caused squad morale to be all time low, because now they lost both laliga and Ucl. Girona just reaped benefit of poor squad morale. Infact even in that Real Madrid match Barca was better tactically and was Infact winning initially, but Madrid was not accepting defeat at any cost while Barca squad was underplaying due to bad squad morale post Ucl defeat. Xavi was in my opinion, very unlucky last season. No good new signings (except Cancelo loan), lots of season long Injuries, embarrassing red card, and psychological wars with Deco Laporta.
Nope, the two games against Girona were very misleading. Barça created several chances but couldn't transform them into goal, plus defence was very poor in both matches.
Xavi did good against Girona. More chances more everything, but the overall momentum of Barça was pretty bad, and we lost lot of determination who led to a misleading result. Lots of chances missed, and easy goals gave away.
As a Barça fan myself I watched all the matches including pre-season. We are good, not scary, it's a overreaction. We always start well, let's see in January. But there are good early signs
What's the point of being a fan if you don't enjoy the football your team plays. I see this argument all the time, let's we in January, nobody says we are back to prime Barca, but we are watching the football in front of our eyes and its entertaining and attacking. So when are we going to enjoy the team, in hindsight let's say Barca do win trophies at the end of season, then we can enjoy the success is it. We are enjoying the open attacking fluid football that Barca is playing at this moment and the improvement they have shown, everyone knows there will be injuries, we have 3 or 4 of our starters injured right now and the team is still playing this good and so it is warranted of the fans over react a little bit
we cant say he is transforming or whatsoever .It's his first season and teams are not well aware of how they are going to play which give them an advantage going into the next season and if they maintain same perfromance and consistency then we can talk about yeah this guy is really tranforming barca.
Most of the Players Are still fresh. Let‘s see how it ends up. At Bayern to the end of the season Most of the players were tired and they conceded unnecessary goals
funnily enough the weakness of flick’s structure is real madrid’s bread and butter having fast wingers will cause chaos excited to see the first el clasico and how flick solves this against teams with pacy wingers
Funnily enough Flick won't press like that against bigger teams. It would be more like a shadow pressing method cutting of passing lanes instead of relentless pressing.
@@MistermouchmanThey didnt make use of any of their starting wingers (except Vini in the last couple of minutes, but I dont think he actually tried), we can only tell in the games to come. Preseason isnt a good way to judge
This Barca has a lot of potential with a very high ceiling. If Flick could elevate those while minimizing injuries, Barca is going to be a force to be reckoned with over the next 3-5 and possibly 10 years down the line. Exciting times for Barca fans.
Honestly the Defense will most definitely improve by Christmas once they have both Araujo and Gavi back and near 100%. Because unlike Cubarsí and Inigo Martinez, Ronald Araujo is more comfortable and faster than the other 2 on the INT and is willing to go out in those winger letting the fullbacks press up higher. Another phase that could help with having Gavi back is that he can also help guard that winger or even the full back at times with his energetic running. He’d be able to cover ground a lot faster than most players letting the fullbacks stay at home
Hey i have a question How do you do these type of tactical analysis and breakdown If you could make a video I'll be very glad and many people's queries will be finished
I asked this question a couple of years ago and he said he uses "once video analyst" for the footage... If you want to have the tactical board you can use "tactical pad" but you'll have to pay...if you find a better way of doing it you can share below
gensen pressing is unstopable if you have the right player like Klopp's Liverpool . It's too early to see how the current Barca could keep this intensity going
He will be a contender this year for everything. When He has the time to tune every thing meticulously he will extract 100% of the capability of those players, and what they can deliver is what Barça will get. Sometimes He can even overachieve. I think He will win La Liga and Real Madrid will be dominated.
Against Valencia, we could've been 3-0 down in the first half if Valencia had better strickers or a better a day. Also, we depend a lot in some key defense player, as Kounde. When Martin was playing in the left, everyone went to the right, making the play predictable, that's what happends if Balde wasn't there, anymore injures could be a great problem.
From our last 2matches pedri was tasked to mark the free full back when the keeper or defenders were able to find them This problem can easily be fixed when gavi returns He’s good at drifting from the CDM role to take the ball from the fullbacks or wingers
flick started to fix the defensive problem against Valladolid .. the idea is for balde to press the free player who gets the ball in the sides meanwhile inigo covers for balde against the winger .. and the cdm of barcelona covers the place of inigo .. simple and effective .
You missed another issue with barca, the workload on players. There are no bigger substitutes for players who has immense workloads on mid field and full backs. Two injuries of prime players would leave barca to shreds. Another issue is flick remains on attack football, but when managers like klopp and pep comes, they even play with great set pieces and matching fluidity with mid field players, yet to see barca match them at their place.
Even Klopp & Guardiola only win one UCL with their respective teams. Flick also win a sextuple with Bayern. Klopp & Guardiola are not special than Flick. All three are great coaches.
@@musiqlife7909 so are you saying that guardiola needed the best player in the world and a planetary aligned squad from la massia to win his sextuple :O while flick did it with less
@@musiqlife7909 Man that's why I compared attack minded managers, flick might've won sextuple, but klopp and guardiola have done way more insane jobs than flick. They adapted very fast and made their mark more stronger. My question was about how he would deal with injuries, that's where klopp and pep adapts to their playstyle.
You are underestimating Barça's midfield options and backup players. What they don't have are and flick has are highly energetic youngsters from Lamasia. Fermin Lopez hasn't even had a start after a terrific Olympics. Then there's Gavi and Dejong to return , Pablo Torre and that's just first team. Olmo and Raphina being versatile adds more option. Fati is about to return as well. The thing is except maybe Lewy all are young players that can press relentlessly for 90 min. If Flick manages and rotates only he can even find place for returning players like Gavi and Dejong who are absolute stars. The left back is an issue sure , but I think he has it covered too. Only problem is Bernal's injury has left a dm trouble which will be covered by Casado. The backup being Eric Garcia. I think Dejong might be a choice as no.6 rather than b to b
I think the issue can be resolved by inclusion of araujo when he is back. someone has to cover the grounds on the flank and araujo is the best person to do so until kounde and balde gets back in the defence
That’s good, Barcelona needs innovation on the field. German coach can provide top notch quality strategy from someone like Flick ! He did the same at Bayern!
Flicks pressing structure has now managed to suffocate both the very direct Bilbao and the possessional Girona. Maybe it will struggle against top teams but so far it seems very effective
It's not too dissimilar from his Bayern side. All-out attack that, while outscoring almost any opposition, is exceedingly vulnerable on the counter. Let's see if he makes it to another CL title like that.
Back here after Barcelona beat Girona, I see improvements in the pressing shape but it's still risky. Wish we could get a deep analysis on how Flick beat Girona compared to last season
xavi help barcelona while in transition, bringing so many talented academy player to the first team while signing some good players like kounde, lewy, inigo sadly he cant maximize them either bcs he is still green and young or too passive in terms of tactic
Their weakness is their midfield. In la liga , teamd are more technical. But in the ucl, they will face english and german teams with physical midfielders and deadly counters, and they will destroy the weak players in casado/bernal-pedri-olmo. Gavi may solve some problems in such games but still feels weak
and sadly, not many players can both satisfy the technical standards known among Barca midfielders but still has a good physique. Dani Olmo is one since he's both Barca academy player and a Bundesliga veteran and he's quite big for a midfielder. They need someone like Fabian Ruiz, but who will that be. I remember only prime Leon Goretzka, but he's so worn out by injuries. Though i think some time in La liga can help him relax his body a bit
Totally agreed, in pre season against madrid and city press was not that high but well organized and effective
If the center backs pick up the winger and a pivot drops in, not only does the midfield get weaker, but if any one of the new back three of the center backs and a pivot get beat, then barcelona will be torn apart
@@BurnPlayz-bm6jsuntil then your this comment makes no sense 😊and you think flick is stupid that you can see and he can’t
Catch up if you can😂
@@HalaMadrid-o1kThey already did and City barely drew with Haaland against barca's B team.
La masia helps them with that... that's why they have much chemistry.
Benefit of signing ex la Masia players.
And you absolutely dominated PSG, with Lewandowski you would've likely won
You guys had players out with injuries against PSG, otherwise you'd have smashed them too
You could have defended UCL if it weren't for Lewandosky injury
and stupid Bayern management let him go!! instead they brought a mediocre Kompany! what a jock
It's better to watch beautiful football for a whole year than boring, but at the end of the year, raise the cup and enjoy it for just a week.
As long as they keep passing forward and trying to get a goal and not only side to side pass and so many backpass to GK, I'm happy
Yeah by ghosting in 2020 and dragged the team down 8-2 🤣🤣🤣
His excessive salary was what drowed the whole club 🤣🤣
The deadgrandmotheressi glazing is crazy!!
@@SaadBinAlamgir3345 so messi is supposed to play defence too nowadays? smh
Oh really interesting thank
this is on point
Kinda sucks, flick needs to understand his place and that the club comes first, the kids can’t forget the Barca way
Edit: op misunderstood, sure flick is doing it his way but his way fits the Barca way
It's the barca way but just vertical nothing else even the players says this it's just attacking with vertical
@Deathmare235 new approach is not necessarily discarding barca way. I think tito and luis enrique adopted raically different techniques, and because very successful while also being added to the barca repertoire
@@Deathmare235bro shut up. The Barca way hasn’t worked in 10 years. We need something new.
Yeah Cruyff tactics are old peps tactics are old while real evolving Barca still stuck in 2009 @@Rolandinho819
I concur. Ronald Arajuo cannot do this and that is why Cubarsi is a gem.
This made my weekend more satisfying. @ Football Made Simple you killed it dude.
Coz he knows Balon d'or lies in La Liga only 😎😎
Don‘t give him his signings I recommend as a Bayern fan. His talent ID is…
How the pressing will work imo. Against smaller teams you press relentlessly & high up the pitch leaving spaces but capitalizing on the inability of weaker teams to counter attack. Against bigger teams use shadow pressing to cut passing lanes still high up the pitch but not as aggressive because then bigger teams with pacy wingers will be problematic
this is correct
Yep, especially Real madrid

Thank you someone has moved from what is in our minds vs what Flick is doing…. Flick is playing more of a hybrid 4-3-3 but with the CMs dropping to help the lone CDM that then becomes a 4-2-3-1
There is no differences between 4231 and 433 nowadays. Simply because mezzala and trequartista have now the same attributes: a mix of #8 and #10
durante a partida vira um 2322 é bizarro mas está dando certo
Fermin also
I wouldn't say it's scary.
@@akashm8358based on your analysis which I really appreciate, Flick's philosophy quite puts Barca at higher risk of having multiple injuries for very long time
Xavi did a great job, Flick is going to put excellence on it.
We are scared of him trully as a madrid fan❤
Detailed and insightful as usual. Well done, mate. 👏🏾
Flick hasn't gotten tested yet, let him face a great teams, then judge him as good.
Exactly my sentiments, we should not start any jubilation now for this little improvement, we are yet to face the real test that will either expose us or prove our strength.. let's have our fingers crossed until 18 September where we will face our lifelong enemy Bayern

Raphinha is more of a brazilian bull, he keeps his head straight and knows is disadvantages
5:06 ref highlighted as a barca player feeds into the memes hahaha
Flick's solution in defense: score more goals.
one very good thing I liked about this team is, he is not even using all the main players, most of them are recovering from injuries, he is giving so much confidence to the bench/la masia players, Flick is making sure to bring up the full capacity of all players...this will help the team in the long term
Finally, waited for too long. Thank you always for the great content and analysis🙌🏽🔥

@indiaderey2998 defence was poor yes but also Girona just took all their chances that players like Roberto gifted for them, we didnt
Thanks bro for the tactics video 🙌🙌🙌
With that midfield against Madrid or city ? Still men against boys IMHO but manager is exceptional
Yep, we don't stand a chance against City. And their manager, Pep, is a genius.
welp we definitely didn’t stand a chance against Madrid
Please make a PSG Luis Enrique tactical analysis
After seeing Barcelona B 2 timers live already, they play the exact same way! Great video!
As a Barça fan myself I watched all the matches including pre-season. We are good, not scary, it's a overreaction. We always start well, let's see in January.
But there are good early signs
Yeah, me too as Barca fan. I'm gonna have to wait it's too early in the season
@@Plato3745last season Barcelona clearly didn't start well
@@edsonmawalla4203 they didn't, the only people who are saying that are the one's looking at the scoresheet only
What's the point of being a fan if you don't enjoy the football your team plays. We are enjoying the open attacking fluid football that Barca is playing at this moment and the improvement they have shown, everyone knows there will be injuries, we have 3 or 4 of our starters injured right now and the team is still playing this good and so it is warranted of the fans over react a little bit
barca fans are the most ungratefu fans on earth. Just enjoy that we are playing good football bro. Be excited. Be positive. Why the negativity?
we cant say he is transforming or whatsoever .It's his first season and teams are not well aware of how they are going to play which give them an advantage going into the next season and if they maintain same perfromance and consistency then we can talk about yeah this guy is really tranforming barca.
Most of the Players Are still fresh. Let‘s see how it ends up. At Bayern to the end of the season Most of the players were tired and they conceded unnecessary goals
😂 it's called transformation
Facts!
This team is different from last year. The evolution is clear.
15\10 analysis. Thank you for your incredible work.
Bro was ahead of his time
This will be nice and dandy maybe for a season perhaps two but when the teams figure out how to play them, Barcelona will come down hard.
The video we all needed!!!
I think that the start of the season is perfect. I hope it will be better and the players will stay united
Great analysis! What tools do u use to analyse? Like getting data about the percentage of atacking through midfield, etc?
FMS, do you think that a 442 pressing shape could ease Barca's defensive problems? It'll be interesting to see how they fare against Madrid
I don't think flick will compromise his tactics
We have been waiting
funnily enough the weakness of flick’s structure is real madrid’s bread and butter having fast wingers will cause chaos excited to see the first el clasico and how flick solves this against teams with pacy wingers
They already played eachother in pre season and barca won, so those pacy wingers aint all that bad
Funnily enough Flick won't press like that against bigger teams. It would be more like a shadow pressing method cutting of passing lanes instead of relentless pressing.
Funnily enough Real's pacy wingers are struggling against La Palmas and Mallorca. What are you on?
@@MistermouchmanThey didnt make use of any of their starting wingers (except Vini in the last couple of minutes, but I dont think he actually tried), we can only tell in the games to come. Preseason isnt a good way to judge
Mr. Bread and Butter, here we are.
youre insane bro amazing content!!
HERE after this man destroyed bayern & real madrid in the same week
Hey i have a question
How do you do these type of tactical analysis and breakdown
If you could make a video I'll be very glad and many people's queries will be finished
I asked this question a couple of years ago and he said he uses "once video analyst" for the footage... If you want to have the tactical board you can use "tactical pad" but you'll have to pay...if you find a better way of doing it you can share below
@@lawrence5841 o wow thanks
@lawrence5841 I am interested guys
Thanks for the video, this is a great analysis. I found it very informative.
gensen pressing is unstopable if you have the right player like Klopp's Liverpool . It's too early to see how the current Barca could keep this intensity going
This describes Ten Hag ball if properly executed.
😂😂😂
Talk about the chances we missed against Valencia too we would have been 6:4 up if that is the case..missing chances is part of the game bro
im just gonna play a music called "monaco" by bad bunny on loop
came to see this
From our last 2matches pedri was tasked to mark the free full back when the keeper or defenders were able to find them
This problem can easily be fixed when gavi returns
He’s good at drifting from the CDM role to take the ball from the fullbacks or wingers
flick started to fix the defensive problem against Valladolid .. the idea is for balde to press the free player who gets the ball in the sides meanwhile inigo covers for balde against the winger .. and the cdm of barcelona covers the place of inigo .. simple and effective .
This is going to be patched tremendously when Araujo returns because we know how well he is defending on the counter.
Thank you for the video!
I agree but im afraid they are not the most venomous attack in la liga right now...
@@musiqlife7909What a plastic 😂 just because he is currently your manager wow
Excellent analysis, keep it up
I think the issue can be resolved by inclusion of araujo when he is back. someone has to cover the grounds on the flank and araujo is the best person to do so until kounde and balde gets back in the defence
Hi, can you please do a Fabian Hurzeler video next ? Btw your contents are amazing, and keep up the good work
A great thing is that, this team is improving by every match they are playing ❤
especially today
That’s good, Barcelona needs innovation on the field. German coach can provide top notch quality strategy from someone like Flick ! He did the same at Bayern!
thakns for sharing such a great informational content
Flick is continuing Xavi's legacy, truly he was underrated, Flick ball just brings together all the danger we had.
Choaos is def the description lol I’m not too convinced tbh and like Bayern I feel like it’ll be exposed & Barca will be bleeding goals later on.
Liverpool and barca use almost similar tactics this season😮
Yep, it is actually scary to lose to Monaco 😅
🤣 I mean to be fair they were down to 10 men but they were so weak towards Monaco still
Clearly no one on this specific thread has ever played soccer in a game where they were down to 10 men against 11
It was a joke, Flick is doing great in Barcelona - v Monaco was only one game.
PS:
Yep, never payed soccer, only football.
Flicks pressing structure has now managed to suffocate both the very direct Bilbao and the possessional Girona. Maybe it will struggle against top teams but so far it seems very effective
5:05 The ref being one of the barça players in the grafic is so accurate
Please make a video on how you would solve Real Madrid’s current tacticals problems and how you would maximize the current squad.
7:01 2nd goal in el classico is the best example of. This
Coach Rinus Michels, not Johan Cruyff, was the originator of Barcelona's style and must not be forgotten but now most people dont know this....
Flick is the best. Still grateful for his work at the german national team and bayern munich.
3-0 remember
