Thank you so much for uploading this! I used to have the cassette I listened every night for so long until it jammed and stopped working! I was so gutted 🥹
@@benjamincooley7756 It's not Martin Jarvis, mate. 😊 I recognise his voice on the Just William stories as well as Stephen Pacey's voice from Gerald Durrell's My Family And Other Animals. 😉
I actually remember listening to this particular version of this story and I absolutely loved it. I'm so pleased I've stumbled upon this again. It does cover most of the story although something were left out, but it's an adapted dramatised version so I don't mind. I absolutely intend to enjoy this adaptation.
This version is okay, I have another one where the storyteller talks to Matilda during the story and it's soooo funny, it's the best ever. I think I own 3 different versions, and the one I'm talking about is the most complete.
Do we need to pay to hear and enjoy this - or is it free? And surely Matilda's father broke the law when he destroyed the library book! That's wilful criminal damage to another person's property!
Unlike the Puffin adaptation, this includes most of the story's detail, while the Puffin version either rushed or omitted certain parts. Good job on this one - needless to say Trunchbull's actress was Mrs. Bumble in the film adaptation of the musical Oliver.
Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa. I have the Puffin dramatised version of this book and in that version I love the sound of the big v8 engine in the big car the Wormwood family drive away in at the end of the story. The same sound effect is used in the Puffin dramatised version of Danny the champion of the world for Mr Hazell's Rolls Royce. I would love to find that particular sound effect at some point so I can listen to it without dialogue from the storyline. I'm sure it is on BBC Sound Effects but I'm just not sure what the exact name of the clip is called. Good stories though. I'm28 years old and Roald dahl is still one of my all time favourites as an author.
Wow! another one I remember very well. My parents bought me this when I was stuck in hospital for three months as a seven year old following a disasterous eye surgery. thanks again for the upload. Also btw, the kids here being tormented by the Trunchbull really sound a bit too! good, as an adult its quite disturbing! Then again, that's the eighties for you, none of this namby pamby nonsense of messing about coddling kids! Btw, any chance you could get the read version of the MinpIns? Only ever heard it twice, it had an amazing soundtrack, which I honestly wanted to get on its own, and as Dahl's final book, it always holds special memories for me.

Hi.
I love your UA-cam channel.
Thank you so much.
So have I! This is the best! Another one from the good old cassette tape days
This guy reads storyteller stories!!!!!! He's fantastic!!!! Steven Pacey is his nameI love it, thank you so much, this is excellent.
@@benjamincooley7756 omg you have me questioning myself!! It definitely sounds like him 😳

Thank you so much for uploading this. Quality is better than how I listened to it on a Library cassette in the mid 90s!
Takes me right back!! Thank you for uploading!! Xx
Oh the nostalgia chills. I’ve been searching for this for years. Thank you for uploading 🙌🏼
No problem. Glad you finally found it!
I am glad to 😊
I do like sweet little Matilda!
Also as a 34 year old now I'm amused at how much Miss Trunchbull sounds like Steve Pembertons Pauline from the league of gentlemen
Haha oh yes. Pauline's Pens!!!
I really enjoyed this reading. The narrations and the different voices were awesome. Thank you for the upload.
I never knew there were tapes like this when I was a kid. And yet it sounds so nostalgic to me. I would've replayed this to death!
I love how they keep it in storyline with the short run time and kids short attention spam. I almost screened when I heard Rupert was in this
Yeah, because in the Puffin version they only include Nigel, Rupert and Lavender, while Wilfred and Eric are completely omitted.
Exactly.
My mom used to play that plus the witches and the twits in the car when driving us to places including school.
My brother and I thought Miss Trunchbull was a man the first few times we heard (possibly voiced by a man).

I know exactly which version you re referring to. It’s narrated by Lenny Henry.
This helps me sleep as well as Danny does
A GENIUS!!!!! 😂😂😂 I love it
Can you upload Simon Cowell reading the witches please?
Do you mean Simon Callow? There is a recording of him reading the twits, but it is available on CD and I only upload material that isn't. Sorry! MG
my favorite story

It's not the same without Danny Devito as Harry Wormwood. 😄

Thank you so much for these stories, I wonder can you find "the minpins" cassette read by Richard Pasco?
How do you do this amazing job

Yay now i dont need to read the book
Is the cast the same or at least similar to the other dramatized Matilda Audiobook?! Very uncanny

That bit where Matilda's father calls her an ignorant little squirt is awful. She should've said", I'd rather be that than a cheating, lying conman!"
Mmmmm. I reckon you’re very much in the majority with that school of thought.
I enjoyed this audiobook but the thing is it has ads that interrupt the book while it is playing .
Does anyone know what Mr Wormwood is watching on tv at 10:51?
V.good!!!!!!!!!
Does this audiobook have a transcript?
I mean 10:56.
