- Another one of the Rainbow tapes I had as a child. I loved this one and was annoyed to discover I had lost my original tape. However, I got hold of another one recently and here it is.
---------------‐-------------------
Cast update:
Due to a sneaky crossover in Rainbow and CollinsAudio tapes, the cast for this recording can be confirmed as the following:
Mr Fox/Farmer Bunce: John Baddeley
Mrs Fox/Farmer Boggis: Jo Manning Wilson
Farmer Bean: Edward Phillips
Young Fox: Maggie Peacock
Narrator/Farmer Bunce: Nigel Pegram
------------‐-------------------------
Thanks to Fox Teen for helping me see where these series overlap each other.
Thanks for listening, MG

Hi all. Don't know if you will all see this in time (my channel is too small to do subscriber messages), but for anyone who is interested there is a copy of this rainbow tape on ebay right now. It's a sensible price too! (Friday 5th March). Thought I would mention it in case anyone is after it :) Take care, MG
Just wanted to say, this has become an institution when I have my girls. We all get settled and listen to it to fall asleep. Thanks again for immortalising this digitally. I e only just seen the post about the tape.😢Not sire how I would play it though😂
This is the version I had on cassette as a child, listened to it countless times going to sleep for many years, thank you for uploading.
Me too, I loved this one.
Thank you so much! This was my childhood favourite. I listened to this cassette so much when I was little and I'm happy I can finally play it for my own children.
My favourite audiobook growing up!
Listening to this is liquid gold. It is like drinking sunbeams and rainbows.
_Now 'urry 'up wi' thaaaá ciderrr!_
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for uploading these Roald Dahl audio cassettes. It's been at least thirty years since I last listened to any of them, but every word and piece of music is achingly familiar. Never thought I'd ever hear them again. My nostalgia-o-meter is shaking and giving off smoke and will probably explode 😂❤️
That's great to hear, glad you can listen to them again now :)
@@TheMonkeyGrinder Considering it was adapted into a movie, then I would have the right to say "The Manga is better than the Anime".
Wow I’ve been looking for this for years!
love that aching part, familiar
Thank you so much for uploading this! My daughters used to listen to this every night before bed, and we lost the CD of this version and couldn't find another copy
I've looked absolutely everywhere for this particular version. My mum used to play this for me when I was a wee nipper. Now I have a wee boy of my own, it would be so nice to let him listen and experience it himself! Thanks for posting!
Same! I’ve tried to find it for years, it’s the best version! I’m 45 and it’s taken me right back to being a kid again 😊
Thank you so much for the upload. A firm favourite for me as a child(41 this April) Glad my kids are enjoying it as much as I did.
I loved this one too, it was one of the few story tapes I had. Oh and I am 42 this April! :)
@@TheMonkeyGrinder Happy Birthday mucker!👊
I nearly fell off my chair when I was looking through YT for an audio book for my daughter. My brother sister and I would listen to these Roald Dahl stories on red cassette tape at night when we were children and the nostalgia is like a gift. Thank you for uploading this so I can share this childhood experience with my own daughter.
That's great to hear! I am really glad so many people are managing to rediscover these tapes.
Thanks for posting I've been looking for this for ages! Loved as a child
I had this tape as well. This is bringing back memories.
This is fantastic! Wonderful to hear this again...amazed at how many of the lines I remember, though not having heard them for 30 odd years. Amazing. Thank you for the upload! Would love to revisit James and the Giant Peach.
I was the same when I put this on after so many years. Did you find James and the Giant Peach? It's on the channel if you scan down the upload list.
Wow! Blast from the past. I still have this on cassette tape along with other Roald Dahl dramatisations.
I had this one as a child and I loved it! Still do actually :) Good to hear you still have your tapes.
Thank you so much, been looking for this for ages :)
John Baddeley Is Best Known As The Voices Of Zip And Top Hat From Tugs The Original Series In 1989. Thanks A Lot Mate. X
Thanks for uploading I've been looking for these versions for years. Loved them as a kid, now my kids can enjoy them too. Well done sir!
Great to hear they are being passed down the generations! You can't get these on CD, so I was determined that they shouldn't vanish into oblivion.
Thank you, brought back memories
I thought I recognised John Baddeley's voice. Haven't heard his voice since his roles in Dennis The Menace as Dad/The Colonel.
He was also in Tugs
I’ve been looking for this for years! Thank you so much!
Brilliant - been looking for this for 20 years!
Glad you have found it now! I love this one
Thanks for this. It brings back real memories from my childhood and my kids love it too!
I Still have this on cassette tape lol
Great audio adventure of my favourite Roald Dahl story.
Thank you so much I really love this
Thanks for this, I think it's the original one we used to listen to as well! Amazing!
That's great! Glad you managed to find it.
Thanks for taking the time to make and share this...any ideas on the others ? The Twits, BFG, Giraffe, Pelly and Me etc ?
Thank you for uploading this audio book ican finally sleep lol
Thanks for sharing, I loved these as a child. Think I drove my parents and playing them over and over!! I have attempted to transfer my tapes to mp3 but the sound quality is no where near as good as yours.
I love the voices
This is one of the few Rainbow tapes I had as a child and I loved it!
Hello to you all! Since I can find no credits with regard to the cast on these recordings, I have been trying to cross reference voice actors across the different Rainbow tapes. If any of you out there have any info about the voice actors and which characters they play please message me or comment on one of the videos and let me know.
I would very much like to put together a cast list for each dramatisation and I know that some of my past assumptions are in fact incorrect. Any info about ANY of the Rainbow dramatisations would be very helpful. Thank you and stay safe, MG
Sue Sheridan can be credited on almost all of these recordings. She was the queen of voiceovers on audio tapes and TV shows.
@@jen6879 My goodness you are right. I watched an interview with her doing the voice for Noddy and you can definitely hear her tone in the Rainbow tapes! Thanks for that :)
Hi, mate. I think I can fix the mix-up:
Mr Fox/Farmer Bunce: John Baddeley
Mrs Fox/Farmer Boggis: Jo Manning Wilson
Farmer Bean: Edward Phillips
Young Fox: Maggie Peacock
Narrator/Farmer Bunce: Nigel Pegram
I found it on this link, with all the other recording's info: audiobookbayabb.com/audio-books/roald-dahl-dramatizations-pack-roald-dahl/
@@foxteen8721 Thanks for that link, some good info there. I think the listings on that page are for the later versions like the HarperCollins Theatre Collection. The Rainbow ones are from 1983, although Edward Philips and Edward Kelsey are involved with both series. Some very useful info on there though so thanks again for sharing that link.
@@TheMonkeyGrinder No problem. If my calculations are correct, Charlie and Fox were pushed forward to 1990 after the eighties just to keep up to date with the decade and maybe the list I posted had some continuity with Edward Phillips and Edward Kesley. I tried looking up and there was nothing I could find about Sue Sheridan.
Brilliant copy, many thanks. What do you use to make the audio file?
I use Pro Tools software/hardware to digitise the tape, and also to splice together the sides of the tape into one continuous file.
I have loved this since childhood I can quote the whole story off by heart my favourite part to quote is 04:52 to 05:57 and 05:59 I can't believe 40 years has gone so fast!
Thanks so much for this!! Can I please ask for the superted ones if you have them?
I don't have any of the superted ones at present, but may get them in future. They came with books didn't they? MG
Ah love this... who spotted the missing fox... one runs back with hens leaving Mr fox and 3 digging. (25mins).. but at the end there are only 3 sitting down with Mrs fox for the banquet.... RIP missing fox....😎
Pretty good
Is the badger John rudling?
He's my favourite character. When I first listened to this I could still say every line of his in unison. I can't believe how comforting this is.❤
Wow! how many tapes was this for 47mins?
Just the one :)
Please try to find James and the giant peach 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 also by rainbow and Edward Philips
I am looking out for it. It keeps cropping up in big lots though :(
Okay so my amazing Mrs Monkey Grinder may have just found a copy of it this morning.
@@TheMonkeyGrinder amazing 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi, love this. You don’t happen to have George’s Marvellous Medicine BOW 139?
Hey. Glad you enjoyed it. Would you believe, I literally just missed out on BOW 139 on ebay this morning! I forgot it was finishing today. Dang!
The Monkey Grinder lol me to, that’s why I asked haha
Just so you know, I have got hold of a copy of George's Marvellous Medicine!
@@TheMonkeyGrinder please upload it
@@Ikaikiastar It is actually already up. The copy I found is a collins rerelease, but it is the same dramatisation from the Rainbow series :) ua-cam.com/video/5KHv0U9U79o/v-deo.html
