- It's the battle of the Ultralight saddle TITANS. The Tethrd Mantis VS Phantom. Jared compares the two and goes over the differences between the Mantis and Phantom saddles.
Want to try a saddle before taking the plunge or want to learn more about this way of hunting?

"in the dark, you can feel your balls." GOOD TO KNOW BRO!!
Thought the same thing and immediately went to post it haha
He should refer to them as bumps in the future 😂
@@baitball4665 me too lol
Feel and count your BA⚾⚾S in the dark 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really liked your explanation of why you ran that really short bridge. Really helpful insight regardless of saddle for those of us intrigued by them
I just bought one cannot wait to test it out. Good luck to the tetherd team this yr.
Just ordered my tethrd phantom and predator platform. Cannot wait to feel and count my balls in the dark!
Great video Fling
Great video, full of information Thanks
I have the Mantis and have made and installed an adjustable bridge, but plan on purchasing the Phantom just for the "cupping". I find that I stand or lean more than I sit. The Mantis, for which I have no complaints for comfort, does tend to ride up a bit. Still comfortable, but I'd rather it not ride up.
Thanks for the comparison review!
I hunted in the Mantis this year as I switched to saddle hunting. I had a great season and love it. I had a made up mind that I didn't need the Phantom but this video has me thinking differently..... 😀
Great video as always, thanks for your support
Thanks for the comparison. My wife got me a gift card for V-Day and I was gonna go right online and get a Mantis, now I'm going to wait until the Phantom is available to spend my money. Also can't wait to try it at the training day in St Louis in April.
I hunted with the Mantis this past season as a first time saddle hunter, I had no issues finding that comfort zone to sit all day. The one thing I did was make a shorter bridge since I'm shorter than most and found that to help dial it all in for me ... so with the Phantom having an adjustable bridge is a great idea. It would be nice if Tethrd would retro fit the Mantis with an adjustable bridge for a small fee !!! wink wink .......
2x on the above!
How about a teach & train event in Phoenix Arizona, or maybe Flagstaff lots of forest area in northern Arizona.
Excellent vid Fling!
Definitely looks like im selling the mantis lol. If it’s any better at all. First season in a saddle absolutely loved it. Don’t see me ever going back to a stand
Great video!!!
Nice Review Brother 💪😎💯🇺🇸⛏️👍🍻
Great video. I was lucky enough to sit in a phantom and loved it. Would really love to get into one for next season.
Great video! Thanks Jared
Now what to sell to earn money.. hmmmmm
Love your videos brother. Been watching you since you had the mantis and hunting using tree gaffs lol. Fixing to make the change to the phantom
Awesome vid. Thanx!
Thanks buddy for the great video
thanks man.. this really helped me "WAIT"
I tried it on at the ATA show, comfortable!
Man I love my Mantis and plan to hunt from it for a while..I do wish it would stay put. I have the rides up problem but the loops for the micro fit adj come in handy for pulling it back down.
Just tried today.....super uncomfortable!
this helped a lot, thanks
I wished SWVA had a dealer where I could try one. I've been in the fence for a couple years.
If Jared or I are headed down that way we will let ya know so you can try one.
I really want to get into this. Ita so expensive tho. And I'm a dig dude working on losing some weight. I still get around pretty good for a big guy. The starter kit with the platform is over 500 bucks. Not saying it isn't worth it because I'm like ready to buy. Its just so much money. I remember how much climbers changed hunting for us then ladder stands and lock on stands and then pop up blinds.. this is just that new thing that is awesome but is really expensive to get started.
Yea I understand that. One thing about a saddle set up is it’s not like buying a tree stand. It’s like buying 20 tree stands. Being able to move around at such a light weight is incredible.
It is an investment though and I understand being hesitant with the price.
@@HuntAppalachia1 I can see the advantage of being able to move around so easily. Definitely easier than my climber. I'm thinking about just buying the saddle and playing around with that. Maybe then if I think its something I can do and enjoy I'll get a good platform.
@@MikeyWoomer yea for sure! I stood at the top of a set of sticks for a long time when I first started. Where do you live? There is probably someone around that will let you test drive some gear!
@@HuntAppalachia1 I live in central Pennsylvania. And as popular as the hole saddle hunting is getting I think I'd be able to get my money back pretty easily between Facebook and Ebay, if I didn't like it anyhow. I don't know if anyone around has one or not. Being I'm 5'7 290 pounds dude, do you recommend the phantom or think the Mantis one in the Xl size would be better for a bigger fella? I like the looks of the phantom.
hey Jared, really enjoy your videos, and Tethrd videos, any suggestions on getting comfortable with the heights and getting up into the tree? am practicing with my Phantom and Beast Sticks in preparation for next season. any tips?
is this as comfortable as a summit climber?
Great comparison. I was planning to make the Mantis my first saddle but I'm liking the look and design of the Phantom. I'm not seeing the Phantom on Tethrd's website yet. . .do you know when it will be available to order?
Late February
5:58......PSA if you're lost in the dark just feel your balls and you'll in now where you are!
Haha, yep I need help finding my balls in the dark. Lmao. Good review on the saddles
Trying to decide between the Phantom or the Kestrel Flex. Have you tried the Kestrel Flex?
James Marsee I tried one very briefly during the summer but not long enough to give an opinion on it. Someone is sending me one to do a comparison between it and the Phantom so be on the lookout for that soon
Mantis vs eberhart signature?
I could really use a saddle for my brother!!
I COULD USE ONE FOR MY HORSE ................ JUST NOT THIS ONE.
I lost it at “in the dark you can feel your balls. ...yep, one, two...”
Just used mantis and it's crushing my cod sack!!! Anyone else have this prob?? How do u get comfortable? I have the micro adj. But they do nothing
I would try moving your tether around to different heights. Also move the locations where your bridge is attaching to your loops. See what is most comfortable to you with practicing. Also on the leg straps you can use the other attachment point with may help the ole sack. I personally rarely use the leg straps but I know a lot of people feel better with them on.
I'm not out to sell you anything... Proceeds to sell the hell out of the Phantom.
And I just bought the mantis before xmas smh wish I knew
Me too brother! I share how you feel, wish I woulda known! I would've waited for sure
Me too.
Me three🤦🏽♂️
Have they started selling the phantom yet and how much
Why can’t you attach your linemen’s belt to the bridge loops? Why does the linemen’s belt need its own own loops?
Cooper Black It’s a convenience thing. You could certainly do that. Having separate loops allows you to leave one side hooked up and stowed in a pouch and it doesn’t get in the way.
Do u no what shows tethrd will be attending?
The question for me is... Will it fit a guy with a 38-39 inch waist wearing thick winter bibs? It can get nasty cold late season in WI.
racerdaveracerdave Yep it sure will!
@@HuntAppalachia1 Thanks Fling! 😁
Wen can wen get the new one and we're can we get it
Great vid I laugh so hard! 😂
Tethrd should do a trade up program or something haha. Nobody wants their mantis now...definitely not after this video. Any reason to keep my mantis? Its gonna be tough to sell now. Before the ata show people woulda paid full price haha.
Are you using a diy bino harness? Looked like it was made with zing it?
It's a Rick Young Ultralight
Did they come up with a price???
Don Thornton $249
I'm worried about the amount of balls hes searching for in the dark! Turn on the light and get him a bible quick.

Sometime in February
So I just purchased my mantis in October, I wonder what it would cost to have tethrd install the adjustable bridge on mine? 🤔
Some guys are already making their own versions of it so if you don't mind a bit of DIY you can easily make one!
Hunt Appalachia I’ll def have to look into that, I’ve got 3 buddies who have ordered saddles since I got mine and they tried it. It’s amazing how convenient and light it is.
Great video. You definitely hit a lot of the points people requested you highlight when you did the poll.
With 1/4" Amsteel and 3/16" Amsteel you can make the adjustable bridge. Download the Samson guides for splicing amsteel and do some practice first. I've made several of these bridges and prussiks. Message me if I can help in any way.
5:56😂😂
Buy a Phantom, feel the difference, feel the balls as often as you like 👍 🤣
do you use knee pads?
Yep sure do. Just cheap ones off Amazon that work great!
Looks like I’ll be selling my 6 month old Mantis
I might buy it
H2 saddle way better
In what way do you think it is better? Out of curiosity, how much time did you spend in the H2 vs the Phantom?
@@HuntAppalachia1 I used both and my h2 is more comfortable personal preference
Oh cool. Not many folks have hunted from the phantom since they haven’t been released yet. That’s why I was wondering. I’ve heard a lot of folks like the H2 saddles.
@@HuntAppalachia1 this guy is trolling...no way he ever sat in a phantom
WHO COMES UP WITH THIS NONSENSE ? HOW MANY MINUTES BEFORE THE CIRCULATION TO YOUR LEGS GETS CUT OFF ? NOT TO MENTION YOUR NUTS.
Hunted out of one for probably hundreds of hours. Never lost circulation to my legs. Nuts are tip top shape as well.
