    Looking to get into saddle hunting. I was going to get a saddle setup this year, but I’m out of work, cant collect unemployment yet because I’m self employed so not sure it will be feasible this year. I hunt on the ground quite a bit but would like to get out of there line of sight, and smell, and be able to hunt any tree. Love you guys are in MN, I’m across the river in western WI. Hey Greg,
    I see all the promotions for the saddle and am loving it. I currently hunt ladders, stick stands, climbers, sit/climbs, and Guido's web. I will probably be selling some of my "other" stands to hunt from the saddle.
    The one thing that recently came to mind is the care of the Mantis, before during and after the hunt/season. How do you wash/clean it? I know in the off season my metal stands get stored outside in the lean-to of my garage. What about cleaning and caring for your mantis saddle? Scent control of it, the waterproofing after the season closes for the next season? The storage of the saddle, environmental control storage?
    I know in the military we were always taught to protect your safety glasses as if they were your eyes, your respirator as your lungs. So how does one care for and store it...?
    Thanks for all you are doing for hunting, and the American pastime.
    Greg

    I've been Soo on the fence about this. I killed my biggest buck ever this year from a climber. Im a die hard climber man, but I'll have to admit, I had to move several times to get this deer and it sucked because alot of trees either had low branches or too big for my climber. This looks like I don't have to worry about all that. I'm gonna have to get one.

Let's see you shoot a video of that with the belt that the mantis has when you get a chance it would be helpful , thanks , will you be doing an outdoor shows in Michigan ??

      Yes, we're headed to Michigan with John Eberhart. I put on all my lower body layers on at the base of the tree. You can do it in the Mantis if you're willing to take some risks, but we don't recommend it. Putting on a jacket is super easy.

    Very interesting. Just found the tree saddle concept after watching Urban Hunts and found you. May be an uninformed question, but does the saddle completely replace the harness system when you're up the tree?
    Nate

    • @BrettFox
      @BrettFox 5 років тому

      Most people do not use a traditional fall arrest harness when saddle hunting, but you should not use the saddle as a harness when hunting out of a regular tree stand. When saddle hunting, the saddle prevents you from really ever falling mainly due to the nature of how you are position and hunting. A regular harness is more for saving your life, after you have fallen. Does that make sense?

  • @corey8134

    So is there no need for a safety harness or something other than the bridge connection to the tether?
    The way it is presented the saddle doubles as a rock climbing harness of sorts. Even with the non load bearing leg straps/loops?

    • @TethrdNation
      @TethrdNation  5 років тому

      That's exactly right. The saddle is your safety harness. The leg loops will hold a few hundred pounds, but don't really do anything to support your weight...only keep the saddle in place.

  • @Matt-de7eg
    @Matt-de7eg 5 років тому

    I’m looking into using your saddle for my hang n hunts. I just have some bad knees. I can’t put a whole lot of pressure on them for long periods of time. How much weight is taken off the legs while leaning into your saddle?

    • @jamo9008
      @jamo9008 4 роки тому

      I know this is an old question but I see no one has answered it. Leaning in the saddle takes quite a bit of weight off of your knees. Also if you can handle some pressure directly on your knee cap better, then you can take a foam pad and sit in the saddle and stabilize yourself with your knees against the pad on the tree. If that gets to be too much, you can turn to the side and dangle with your hip against the tree to get a little relief.

    Why don't you carry a small size. I got in the medium but, I'd fit in a small better. You also should incorporate a type of strap dangle retention (for lack of better words). Dangling strap are a totally annoying and a safety hazard. I'm 5'7 155lbs and have to tighten the straps on the medium excessively leaving long dangling tag ends. Food for thought.

    I feel that they hold off shipping to make it seem they have so many orders so people who are on the edge will pull the trigger and buy so they have it for season. If that's not the reason they need a better production manger who will do something to speed up production no reason in this day and age to have to take so long to get these out. I'm 8 weeks and still nothing i will find a different platform so i don't have to wait for there bad management who can't make the call to speed up the process.

      Tim Ahern if you have done any research on these guys you would know that they are just a couple of guys that’s started their own company. Has nothing to do with production problems. For you to expect them to have thousands in stock would mean they would have to risk their own money assuming they were going to sell them all. They are just average joes. No reason to be rude and try to public shame them when it told you right on the site that there was an 8-10 week wait time.
