Just getting off the ground will increase your chance of success. This doesn’t look like I could use it for elk hunting where I may have to spend all day in it.
I love my new phantom. It Is an improvement over the old mantis, but these guys are right, the adjustment loops on the bridge Always jump back to the middle. Also, it is a little hard to keep the belt snug on you, I wish they made it in a smaller size! Other than that, it's super comfortable!
I forget who I watched do it first. But tfor the no hips problem ,take the bridge and put it up overyour shoulder like suspenders adjust Bridge length to hold the saddle up and walk in .
Great way to deal with the sag is to run your backpack waist belt through the lineman's belt loops while walking in. 8mm ropes are definitely the way to go, can easily fit them into one pouch.
If do a UA-cam search on cruzur xc reviews. They say it's a great tree saddle. I owned phantom tree saddle , areo hunter kestrel flex tree saddle and cruzur xc is most definitely most comfortable tree saddle at this point in time.
One pro tip . . . use smaller diameter rope. That 12mm or 13mm rope you're using is great, but not needed. Get some Sterling Oplux or Teufelberger Rescue Tech. Both are 8mm and you can fit way more rope in those smaller haulers without an issue. Oh, and go on Amazon and get yourself a molle attachment kit. I use the strap ones to make my sys haulers quickly removable. Can put 'em on and take em off in the dark with one hand, no problem. Same way I keep my sticks on my belt as I climb .
I don’t use sys hauler or any type alike. I find it annoying. Plus butt sag is a big deal. Using duck Kong with 8mm for tether and lineman’s, I can easily stash them in my cargo pocket.
Haha!!! Just being honest! And honestly, they are a great product. These are just the things we noticed from a newbie’s perspective. We’ll check out the Cruzr!
Thanks for the honesty! I have the hawk saddle and it feels about the same as y’all described...what I like was the fact that’s I got everything on sale for just over $400 including the platform. Tethered is well over $500 by the time you buy everything needed. I Enjoy your vids!
Thank you! Yeah we’ve been wondering how the Hawk compares. I do like the idea of buying from a “small business” like Tethrd, but it’s interesting to see some more budget friendly options hit the market. Hopefully they’ll all end up a bit cheaper in the future.
Do a UA-cam search on cruzur xc tree saddle they all said the most comfortable tree saddle. I own one and previously had a phantom and areo hunter kestrel flex tree . Cruzur xc most comfortable saddle period.
This is why it’s good to have different brands. After saddle hunting for 7 years, and trying most everything on the market, the phantom is my sweet spot. I am still a little nostalgic for the old neoprene trophyline, though. Even though that thing weighs a ton.
Good video, and looks like y'all had a great season! I do want to say from what I could tell it looks like y'alls tethers were to high on the tree, and I bet that's alot of your problems with hip pinch, saddle riding up, etc... start with that tether about chin level and adjust it from there. This was my 3rd full season in a saddle, most of the time my tether is about chin height. But like everything else, each person is a little different, and what works for me, may be wrong for y'all.
Good points man! I definitely believe you’re correct. The further the season went on, the lower my tether was. Started out in July with that thing as high as I could reach and ended up swinging.
@@TheElementWild I believe it! When I used a tree stand and regular harness I was accustomed to hanging my tether strap as high as I could, to reduce the height I would fall if I were to, so when I started saddle hunting I did the same. But once I started lowering it down the comfort went up. Lots of little things that can be adjusted and will also help with saddle comfort.
I don’t have a Tethrd; I bought a Trophyline instead because it was a cheaper option to start and it’s interesting but I have 2 of the same issues you mentioned: 1.) the waist belt coming loose while walking and therefore the saddle wants to fall around your butt/hips and 2.) hip pinch. I enjoyed saddle hunting this year and may upgrade to a Tethrd
I used the sys hauler last year and it was a pain. This year I am daisy chaining my lineman belt and tether across my lineman loops and have my hys strap in my pocket. I can already tell this has helped a ton with sagging because it took weight off of the back of the saddle and put it on the front. The daisy chained ropes act as belts too. Good luck this season.
That said would you guys go back to tree stands and would you have still hung in the same trees with stands to kill as many deer this year as you did I’m still using a hang on cus I’m invested already so thanks for the honest review
I have had none of these problems. I’m standard “white boy” issue. Going on season two with my phantom and it’s been nothing but perfect and has helped me kill deer in areas of public land I wouldn’t have previously walked into.
Since your review consisted of “the molle loops add unnecessary weight” I can’t imagine why you weren’t sent a saddle from WE to review. The highlight was the comment about 2 SYS haulers being big and weighing you down followed by its awesome to put all the gear you need in these SYS haulers. All in all, good highlight reel of your season, you got some great deer.
@@NicholasStCyr not exactly sure what your point is. Feels underhanded, but I’d like to trust that you’re a decent person. Thanks for watching and sorry if I assumed wrongly.
@@TheElementWild My point is there are a metric S ton of reviews out there on products and what you provided for feedback didn't offer anything in terms of facts on the weight of the molle and the comments about the SYS haulers were conflicting. It wasn't meant to be underhanded, just an observation. no harm, no foul.
@@NicholasStCyr Ok I apologize that I interpreted it that way. Correct me if I’m wrong but the same guy who complained about the weight also runs one sys hauler. Our opinions don’t always concur on subjects but we like to talk about concerns that both of us have. It’s also a very minor problem but some guys (not us) are out there cutting their toothbrush in half and choosing sticks that are 2oz lighter so yes, we did mention it. Lastly, some things are considered more necessary and I’d say and extra sys bag for many is more necessary than Molle all the way around the top and bottom. This is why we put that point in there.
I honestly believe that I would have killed the biggest buck of my life this fall if I had a saddle. He came in directly behind my stand I couldn't lean out enough to shoot. I have his sheds from last year he was in the 150's then he was at least 25 inches bigger this year. Who knows maybe I'll get redemption this fall when he's really really really big lol.
I bought a battle belt for my phantom after seeing some other YT video because i hate backpacks i can carry everything on my hips now and nothing moves or sags I looked at the Cruzr but for me it looks like a diaper cause i also have no junk in the trunk phantom is plenty big no problems but to each his own!
