I have been lucky to have travelled this parkway more times than I can recall. Favourite time of year is the Fall. Waterfalls are not as spectacular as in Spring. The road is much quieter. Travelling north after the Columbia Icefield is my favourite part as traffic is much lighter. Glad you enjoyed the trip despite the cold weather.
We were there in July….came off an Alaska cruise…drove to Jasper, spent 3 days…then onto Banff for 3 days. This is without a doubt, one of the most beautiful drives we have done, and we have done a lot. The lakes, glaciers, waterfalls were breathtaking. Bears, elk, mountain goats, big horn sheep. Peyto Lake was unbelievable….blue…blue…blue. We did like the Jasper area much better…less crowded and less touristy. It broke our hearts when the wildfires destroyed the Jasper area recently. Being from South Carolina,we love seeing snow on mountain tops in July.
Beautiful Trip... I was on the exact trip in 1969.....The Columbia Icefield Glacier was almost to the Highway. Sad to see it has receided back so many miles up the mountain. Whats more sad is with the recent wildfires (2024)the highway was closed....all the way to Jasper. I have traveled across Canada twice, and must admit...Alberta and BC are the two most beautiful Privinces in Canada.....We have been Truly Blessed to live in such a Beautiful Country.
My wife was born and raised in the Vancouver, BC area. We traveled from there across Canada to Banff and the eastern provinces in 2009. Thanks to you two, we're putting the Icefields Parkway on our revised CA bucket list. Your drone videos are fantastic. We value your down-to-earth approach to touring North America. Our best to you, Rob and Sharole
It is COMPLETELY worth the money to stay there! We stayed right at the base of the glacier in August in that parking lot with maybe 4 other campers. We turned the rig so the glacier was our entire view. The star gazing was INCREDIBLE, and very little car travel in the middle of the night. The drive was epic and you are right that it is the perfect 1/2 way point to take a rest and not feel rushed. If you have the time, please, please, please don't be in a hurry -- you will be thankful you took your time. So grateful that we live in this part of the world, as we are already planning our next epic trip up the parkway. Grateful for your videos. Thank you.
For the comment on paying $17.50 I would say your helping to keep facilities open, roads passable and if you can afford a rv rig worthy to travel, much less to BEAUTIFUL Destinations, then count yourself Blessed...many people in this world can't even Leave their own town or state to see what's out there! That's a small price to pay for what your experiencing!
Loved seeing it through your eyes. I made the mistake of going there on my bucket list trip last summer and the unbelievable crowds ruined it. That huge parking lot you camped in at the visitors center? Zero parking. The entire lot was full of tour buses and cars! I will say: never never visit in the summer. I went all the way there in my 24' Class C from Utah and was unable to see most of the places in Banff because of extreme crowds. On the positive side, the Icefields Pkwy. drive made the whole trip worth it! Amazing. That Tangle falls I did not see in early July. Gorgeous! Roodle never fails to make me laugh!
That was a feast for the eyes - Mother Nature's giant cathedrals set to music! Can't even begin to imagine what the Icefields Parkway looked like in person. As for the comment about paying $17.50 to camp in the parking lot next to the glacier - if you put a price on something like that, then you shouldn't even be there. Stay safe and be well in your travels. Thank you for sharing this with all of us who undoubtedly will never be able to experience this majesty first hand. Take care.
We weren't sure what the Parkway was all about when we decided to take it at the last minute. So our minds were BLOWN on that drive! It brought tears to my eyes and got me so choked up!
As the Carolina humidity and warmth is here in June, just seeing the incredible glacier area, mountains, water falls and ‘snowing’ Feels Awesome! Love seeing the Roodle Fun! Also missing my years of motorhome full-time living, I love seeing the other vans, campers and knowing that many are still enjoying the lifestyle. Your videos are beautiful, informative and offer lovely ‘mind-vacations’ for those of us no longer traveling. Thank You!!! 💜🦋💜
I drove from Banff to Jasper along the Ice Fields Parkway back around 2000, and back, and there was no fee to pay back then for the privilege of driving the road. The Athabasca Glacier has retreated dramatically since then, as I distinctly recall its tongue was perhaps 1/4 mile on the other side of the highway from the visitor center. There were buses then that would drive tourists onto the glacier from the visitor center, which does not seem remotely possible now from your video. Interesting to see how things have changed so much over these past 24 years.
I visited the Icefields Parkway three times. This road is unbelievable. I love the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Greetings from Germany to Western Canada ... 🇨🇦 🇩🇪
One of the greatest drives, no doubt Over from the UK, rental car and took this in three times, whilst staying at Canmore. On the day we were due to fly home couldnt resist driving back there, just for a few miles. Back then there was little in the way of traffic. Never forget it. J.
Lived in Northern BC for 8 years and have made at least 5 other trips out west to visit family and friends. Absolutely LOVE the Ice Fields Parkway, but if you have time to explore sometime, also do the northern route between Jasper and Edmonton (or Hinton) and, of course head over to BC from Jasper and explore Mt Robson area.
I probably drive it 3 times a year at least, every year. I’ve been at the Athabaska Glacier in the middle of winter at night at -40c. It is amazing, NO Wind (which is very unusual) and clear sky lit up with stars. May is a nice time to drive the Parkway. Sure you can drive the Parkway in 3 hours but you’re not going to experience it. Smart move staying the Visitor Centre overnight. Good choice of music and a very well done video. Thank you. Safe travels.
Another breathtaking video !❤ We're glad to see y'all are checking ✔️ off your Bucket 🪣 List. ALASKA is definitely on our list, too. Glad to see Roodle is having a Blast in the Glacier springs. I notice Dave didn't get in that bone-chilling water 🥶. Enjoy your trip and make memories ❤ ( Dave & Peggy )
The views are so beautiful and awe-inspiring, to say the least. Thank you for 8nv8ting us along. Mind over matter when it comes to when people criticize. I don't mind, so it does not matter.
Highway 12 Utah would rival any road. With stops at Capitol Reef, going over the Hogback near Escalante and driving the Burr Trail, Bryce Canyon , Red Canyon and Zion National Park. Driving into Zion from the East side and throught he tunnel is amazing. The variety of different scenery makes this drive special.
LOVE HIGHWAY 12! Probably our favorite drive in the lower 48. Apples and oranges when it comes to beauty…. Each different in their own way! Both BEE-YOU-TEE-FULL!!!
I am lucky I have been to the ice fields in Canada I actually live about 5 hours away from the parkway and I have travel highway 12 in Utah and yes Zion Bryce Canyon absolutely beautiful
Roodle needs a Moose to play with *wink*. What remarkable footage. I was just thinking about you guys as we are preparing to hike Upper Layout Creek (Bighorn Canyon NRA) tomorrow, because of your video. Thanks for continuing to provide inspirational content for those of us on and off the road. Your explanation about paying for overnight parking was spot on. Thanks for being willing to put yourselves out there week after week. Be safe out there!
I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO DRIVE THAT ROAD, ROUND TRIP EVERY TWO WEEKS FOR ELEVEN MONTHS. ALL FOUR SEASONS. THERE WERE A FEW TIMES FROM LAKE LOUIS TO JASPER, THAT WE SAW NO OTHER VEHICLES. SPECTACULAR..!! AS BEAUTIFUL AS THAT ROAD IS, THERE ARE MANY, MANY OTHER AREAS IN THE PARKS, THAT ARE JUST BREATH TAKING. GLAD YOU WERE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE IT. SAFE JOURNEYS, TO YOUR FINAL DESTINATION. 🖖
It all depends on if you wanna stop because you dont like/cant driving more than a few hours a day due to health reasons. I myself cant do long drives due to my back/hips so 3 hours would be my limit then id have to rest a couple days. Im with you Carrie i love the views well worth it. Breath taking views ❤❤❤❤❤
you know you guys were lucky to see the town of Jasper when you did because since you uploaded this video a third of the town has been consumed by forest fires.
Oh so beautiful those Canadian Rockies! Are you guys planning on going to Edith Cavell Glacier, Angel Glacier right by Jasper, you walk right up to it and a glacial lake that is breathtakingly beautiful and surreal.

I hope they weren't flying a drone...drones are illegal in Canada's national parks.

We LOVED this location and this leg of the drive!!

Leave their own town or state to see what's out there! That's a small price to pay for what your experiencing!
Plus, you don’t rush down the nicest drive in the world. Too bad the weather socked in for the north 1/2 of the drive, it is by far the prettiest.

the mountains look like painting. so beautiful. thanks for the video
AI could not have done it better.
I’ve been through the area 5 or 6 times & I never tire of the beauty any time of the year.
The waterfalls! Just absolutely beautiful. ❤❤
We weren't sure what the Parkway was all about when we decided to take it at the last minute. So our minds were BLOWN on that drive! It brought tears to my eyes and got me so choked up!
Wow!! That is fantastic! Looks like an awesome drive! Thanks for taking us along! “Keep making memories & adventure on!” ~Karen & Shannon WOY

Yes... beautiful!! camped about a week between Banff and Jasper! Beautiful!! Love you guys... and your videos
Breathtaking scenery, you captured it best with relaxing music. Thank u. Enjoying van life thru your eyes for now❤
I have traveled all over the world and the most beautiful places on Earth are right here in our North American backyard.
I drove from Banff to Jasper along the Ice Fields Parkway back around 2000, and back, and there was no fee to pay back then for the privilege of driving the road. Brings back wonderful memories from the mid 1990s. Best wishes from the UK.
The mountains are CASTLES in the SKY! Breathtaking! Candle ice! Makes the coolest sound ever!
Beautiful video.

Stunning footage! Looks like you guys are having a fantastic journey. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
Thank you for the wonderful video. We made this drive in 2015, and can’t wait to do it again next year. Safe travels to you and your group.
Thanks so much for posting this wonderfully videotaped journey. Well done. It brought back many fond memories of my trip there in 2006.
Very beautiful. Nice music. Seeing the bears was exciting. Funny Roodle seeing the dog in the window.
Enjoying your snow as we swelter in the upper 90’s here in the South!😂 Beautiful!
Can't tear my eyes away.
Amazing and stunning.
What a blessing -thanks you 🙏 May God bless ❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾

I feel like you guys always come to Canada too early I the season when it’s cold to really see/enjoy what we have for you.
we are notorious for finding the colder temps! It has its pros and cons
This was so great. Really appreciate your time on this video. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
It's truly beautiful in every sense. Wonderfully captured. Great work guys

This is a beautiful journey. I have done it once in a pickup truck, and my dream is to do it again in a convertible car in the fall months.
Hypnotic, mesmerizing beauty! Hope to do this trip soon!
We just came back from 3 weeks in Canada. The Ice Fields Parkway was stunning.
AGREED!!!!
Such a beautiful place!
Epic epic and epic. Thanks so much for sharing.
That tram view is WOWZA!
Wow, just wow!
It is beautiful.
Love this video .stay safe
Wonderful. You guys are the best. Safe travels and pet Roodle for us.
Spectacular!!!!!!!!!!
Wow lots of ski slope on them snow cap
Factor in weather and overall crowds in that order. You got to see it slightly off season mid September, sunny weather would be ideal. ( fall colors)
Stunning, just stunning. JASPER must see.
I think so too!
I was a bit bummed that Lake Louise was iced over! I will have to come back and see it in the fall
Beautiful country! Aw, Roodle wanted to play with the neighbor dog, even though it was non-existent. Lol. 🐕🤗
I know!! it was so cute!
It is beautiful !

Soooo beautiful.
Visited last year. Never travel in peak season. It was awesome to say the least.
I’m hoping I might get to see it again in the fall!
I will be driving the Icefield parkway later this week, this is my 5 th time.
That Darren picture of the waterfall would make an awesome jigsaw puzzle 👍
That would be cool!
Dang, y'all! All I can say is, "WOW!"
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍425
Beautiful 😍
Beautiful country🤗
It really is!
I have to ride that someday !!
It’s so incredible!
