I live in southern British Columbia and I take this drive every time I visit my brother in Grande Prairie Alberta. It's pretty f'ing sweet.
I live in Calgary and visited this route more than 20 times, I still think Ice-field Parkway is the No.1 of most beautiful road in Canada.
It’s hard to beat that’s for sure! The views never end 😍
The torquoise waters in the Canadian Rockies are absolutely stunning! Most beautiful lakes in the world 🙌😍
Couldn't agree more :)
This drive is definitely among my top 5 favorite drives in the world. While completely subjective, "going to the sun road" in Montana is just as beautiful as this one! My absolute favorite so far is "Tioga pass" in Yosemite! The main reason for that is the rock formations! There is absolutely nothing like Yosemite rock formations in the entire world! Thank you so much for sharing this heavenly place/video 🙌
It has to be our current favorite! Not sure how it can get much better 😍 Thanks for the awesome suggestions! Can't wait to explore the rest of your list, Thanks!
Yeah, the drive through Yosemite, from the Valley up through Tuolumne Meadows is incredible. I still haven't found a more spectacular drive.
Views just like from a picture. Incredible beauty of nature 🤩🤩🤩
Everywhere you look is a postcard view!
💯
This was an amazing video thank you for sharing I wasn't going to take the drive until I saw your video. So beautiful how can I be here and not make the trip
This vlog brought back such great memories of our times on the Icefield Parkway such a fabulously stunning area.
So happy to hear this video could bring back some good memories from your trip there! Such a beautiful area 😍 Thanks for sharing!
Been living in Canada for almost 26 years . This year is our first time to Banff. Wow!. What is breathtaking beautiful. We are feel so blessing and proud live in a such beautiful country. We will definitely checking Jasper next summer. Couldn’t be waiting any longer!.
You should feel blessed! It’s such a unique and stunning place! Try jasper in the fall if you want to see more animals 😍
You both did an A++ job of showing what it really feels like to be there. Stunning shots you got of Bow Glacier Falls! Tommy, you've got a good eye wondering about how the current maxes out at Mistaya Canyon in the springtime ... very intense even in the summer with currents shooting up a good 20 feet into the air after hitting rock. Hard to believe all that water is glacial ice melt. What a treat to see all the animals too. You went at the perfect time ... hardly any tourists and a need for the animals to pack on those calories before winter is sure to bring them out into view. You practically had the whole place to yourselves which is great for feeding the soul. Always enjoy your videos and can't wait to see what you have coming next.
Beautiful!!
I was there in 2004. My wife and I rode there from Illinois on our Harley. We actually rode it twice, Banff to Jasper, stayed around Jasper a few days, and then back to Banff. I’ve been all over the US and Canada, including Alaska, on a motorcycle and I would agree that the Icefields Parkway is the most scenic!!!
That must of been an amazing ride! We can see why you did it twice 😍 We did the same thing. I don’t know how a road could get any better! Thanks for sharing!
We rode from S. Illinois in 2016 on our Harley also. It was spectacular! We're going back this summer but driving this time.
Parks Canada does a great job of educating people about the dangers associated with animals but I don't think they do enough education regarding the dangers of tiny logs on the ground. Tommy folding himself into a pretzel was kookslam worthy. Love your videos guys. Cheers from Vancouver.
🤣 Like a 🥨 Thanks for the great laugh. The logs are the true danger obviously! Appreciate the comment 👊
I’ve done that drive in 2019, spent a week exploring banff and Jasper, absolutely incredible place, some of the best scenery i have EVER seen!
It’s a very special place 😍 Thanks for sharing!
Just come back from a 6 day trip across Canada, from Calgary to Banff, to Vancouver....before doing a cruise.
Took in Lake Louise, Bow Lake, the Icefields Parkway, the Banff Gondola.
Had two nights in Banff as well which is stunning.
I watched this UA-cam Clip before we travelled and was chuffed to spend an hour at Crossing Hotel, where we took in the views. Breathtaking is all I can say. Pictures and video clips don't do it justice and I hope I get the chance to go back there in the future.
I agree that you guys do a lighthearted video of scenic tour. Drove it July 2022. Great job
Really appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed the video 😃 Thanks for the support!
We absolutely loved this drive when we did it a few years back!!!!
Awesome to hear it! One of our favorite drives ever! Thanks for sharing
It's a beautiful place; I've been there in summer and winter. amazing 👏👏
This is where I learnt to drive, I've seen the glacier at the markers from the 90s it's pretty wild... I've had a pretty privileged life all things considered, thanks for the reminder.
Spent a week in Fairmont Hot Springs a few years back and did the drive north. Lake Louise/ Moraine Lake onto the Icefields Parkway. We've travelled a lot and it is still the most stunning Drive we have been on. Spent the night in Jasper and drove back . Yes the colours of the lakes / rivers etc are awesome - highly recommend to anybody . Get video by the way !!
Lived here all my life and thought you found a river I didn’t know about when you kept saying Messiah river..😀
That was a brown, black bear…. Not a grizzly , keep looking but they’re hard to see….. much more elusive
Very nice video work….
This made us laugh! We def stumble/mumble on our words so much...we are always thinking "what did we say" when we edit...hahah glad you could find some humor in it 🤣 good to know about the bear....maybe the next video has a grizzly, stay tunedddd
I live in Calgary and I loved your video. Your photography was superb. Commentary was perfect. Keep it up.
Thank you for visiting Canada glad you had fun. As a home sick Canadian living abroad thanks. Come back.
Just started planning a bit of our Canada leg. This road looks increeeeddible! Added to our list immediately!
Sammy is just delightful. What a cute couple. Good job. Heading there next week! 19:30 classic
You're too sweet! You're gonna have an amazing time! Thanks for watching
The video is Fantastico! The beauty, the music, the animals in the wild, and you two are so enjoyable. How could we not go there?
🥰 Thank you so much!!!
You did it again , You guys are awesome . I was there in September too and stayed in Crossing too . Been there Twice and planning again this summer from Toronto.
Guys, your videos are so well done!! I'm going there in 2 weeks and I'm excited 😊 Good luck with your next travels!
Thank you, we are trying to improve with every video! Safe travels and have a great trip! Perfect time of year to go 🤗
Did this 45 years ago in the winter. Jaw dropping!
I am sure it was so beautiful in the winter! We would love to see it during that time! Thanks for sharing
Great video advertising this place. I haven't been to all scenic driveways in the world but Icefield Parkways is only second to some of the many scenic New Zealand drives I've experienced. Beautiful places.
Thanks so much! We can’t wait to do New Zealand one day! Anything that can top this is a must do! Thanks for sharing
I am heading there next week. Love your beautiful video . Thanks for sharing!
Have an amazing time! There are so many incredible stops 🤗
BEAUTIFUL!
awesome views guys
Love that place is beautiful 🥰
Nice video, brings back memories of our trip there in 1999. Yes the Athabaca glacier looks to have receded a good bit in the 20 years. We took the time for the tour onto the glacier. We also did the waterfalls.
Glad we could bring back some good memories! I am sure getting on the glacier was amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Well done! Very polished video! Really enjoyed seeing this beautiful area through your lens. Capturing wildlife is always a bonus! 👍
Thanks for the awesome compliments! Seeing those animals is a huge Bonus! Many more lucky sightings to come in the next video!
Great view guys I hope you bring more
Did this trip from Jasper to Banff last week. Awesome.
Lucky you! Hope you had an awesome trip! Thanks for watching 👊
I walked to the Bow Glacier Falls in Oct. 2019. There was snow all the way from the parking lot at the lake to the Glacier! But a phantastic nature! Thanks for sharing your video! I will be back in May in Alberta! Greetings from Germany you Guys!
Wow, that's awesome! We would love to see the area in every season!
Loved watching this video while you were doing the ice fields parkway! Did a great job!🇨🇦🤗
Really appreciate it!
“I think having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want.” Andy Warhol.. my friends another epic video, everything about this video is aboso-friken-ly stunning, it must be a photographers dream to take such stunning pictures of nature in its pure form.. so many falls in one video but the best one is the Tommy falls, it made me laugh but hope you're alright brother after that fall.. thank you once again Sammy and Tommy you guys are the best.. 👊
Wow! Such a great quote! Thanks so much for sharing 🥰 Banff, Icefields, and Jasper are most definitely a photographers paradise, we couldn't put our camera down! Hahah the fall was brutal but funny, glad he made it out ok and we can all laugh 😅 Thanks for all your support friend!
Wow! So beautiful have fun! Stay safe
Thanks Suay 🥰 Hope you are doing well!!
Best way to see this is by bicycle. Did it once in the 80’s and twice in the 90’s. Good paved shoulders almost all the way. Lots of fantastic short and full day hikes. Best hiking is around the Columbia Ice Fields - Parker’s Ridge, Nigel Pass, Wilcox Pass and hiking to the ridge that gives you an amassing view of the glacier on Mount Athabasca. Best campsites are the walk-in sites at the Columbia Ice field Campground - need a good sleeping bag as you can wake up in the snow any day all summer long.
YES! Just did this drive and mind was blown!
We can see why 😍 Such an amazing drive!
It is interesting, we did the trip at the end of June on our way to Minnesota. We went in the opposite direction. We stopped at exactly the same places you did. We hit snow too. Was interesting to see the changes over the couple of months. Brought back such great memories. Thank you.
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing! We can’t wait to do the drive again! Glad we could bring back some good memories 💜
Amazing content! Really love what you guys captured in this video.
Thanks so much!
Merci! Good info ; will do in three weeks !
Have an amazing time!
One of the best travel vlogs I've seen. Really captured the feel of the drive. I can relate so much to Sammy's height fears on the ascent and descent road sections in the Columbia Ice Fields area. No way will I try the skywalk!
Thank you for making our day! Sammy could hardly even look at it 😂
I live in Alberta Canada and I've done the drive a few times . Everytime is WOW!!!
It really is wow! Lucky you to have done it a few times! Thanks for sharing!
I work and live in the Columbia icefields ( I work at the Starbucks in the centre) and I love seeing the glacier every morning
Great video!! Those were ravens 😊 I drive that highway a few times a year and that spot by the glacier skywalk still scares me!
You referred to Moraine Lake as the $20 view….was just wondering if you know it’s called that because it used to be on the back of the $20 bill
It is so magnificent nature!! So beautiful but sometimes it is fear!! Thank you for this wonderful video!! Greeting from Korea!!😍😍👍👍
It really is 😍 Thanks for the comment! Sammy is so excited to visit your country of Korea! We hope to head there soon 🤞
damn, i miss the snow so much!!!! beautiful video [like always] guys!
Snow is always so fun (for a short time) when you haven't had it in awhile! Thanks for watching friend!
Great video and very nice
I believe her.. I had nose bleeds due to dry air when I was younger.
Great video! I took lots of notes because my wife and I want to go take the parkway while hitting the highlights of Banff and Jasper on our way north to Tuktoyaktuk in September.
Awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing! You’re gonna love it especially in September 😍 We are jealous and can’t wait to go back!
❤❤❤
Nice sharing friend
Thank you so much 🥰
Just came back from there.... remarkable place!
Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Thanks for watching
I've driven from Calgary to Jasper via Banff several times. I've done Athabasca falls but not some of the other hikes. Bow lake was nice to see since the calendars and other scenic literature take a shot from higher up. Any locals watching this, try the drive to Jasper via Rocky Mountain House. It's also nice. But you have to pay to get into the park. You come in at the Columbia Icefields.
You guys have done real justice to the stunning beauty and diversity of this amazing place. The accessibility to region's scenic wonders, is probably matched by those of South Island in New Zealand.
Thanks so much! The South Island of New Zealand is hard to compete against but both are absolutely fantastic!
@@SammyandTommy Totally agreed about both being fantastic. Keep up the great work!👋
I am lucky to live on this region and hike everywhere!
You’re so lucky! We want to hear your favorite hikes!
Thanks!
You guys awesome! Hello from Ukraine :)
Hello there!
Wait - poor balance - the same guy that stands on the edge of the cliffs !!!! - Sammy you have to watch him . We like having him around ( great camera work )
😂 No wonder she is always getting upset with me about getting risking it for the shot! Thanks for the awesome comment!
Amazing!!!
Thank you 💜
Nice video.
Stunning video!
Thank you very much 💜
Hi Sammy and Tommy ( put the best looking first 🤣🤣)
We started watching you guys when you were in Vietnam as we are Vietnam addicts (going back in a couple of weeks).
But we enjoyed your channel so much that we have stayed with you since you left.
You are welcome guests in our lounge room whenever you post something.
If you ever decide to pass through Victor Harbor in South Australia ( a smart thing to do!) you can book yourself in to our humble abode for 3 bed and breakfasts on the trot.
Not likely I guess, but thanks for sharing your journey with us.
Dave and Joy ❤️
Hi Dave and Joy 👋 Look like we agree on the best looking 😉 We can see why you're Vietnam addicts! We can't wait to get back there and explore more! Thanks for sticking around. We really appreciate the invite and will definitely take you up on your offer once we make it to South Australia. I can't wait to take Sammy there! When is the best time to visit?
@@SammyandTommy Best time is definitely NOT winter. Best September to April.
South Australia has several distinct areas of note…far north (inc Uhluru). Flinders Ranges Barossa Valley Fleurieu Peninsula. South East . A bit unique and off the beaten track for Utubers.
If you happen to give serious thought get back in touch.😘🤗🍷
Wow!!!!
Thanks!
Beautiful place 👍
It really is 😍
This is a superb video with excellent commentary and information. I loved it!! I’ll be doing this trip Oct 4 from Jasper. After watching your video I’m very excited to be there. Sammy having nose bleeds in high elevations is normal. I’m worried that I might suffer from that too or have high altitude sickness. I was going to ask you if you’re allowed to pull over on the side of the road if you spot wildlife and it looks like you are! Thank you so much guys for this incredible video. I have subscribed @.
Have a great trip! You're going to love it!! 🫶🏼
Absolutely amazing! Beautiful waterfalls, glaciers, hikes aaaand Tommy falling was the cherry on top of the cake 😂😂😂... Man I really thought you broke your leg for a second, then I laughed out loud 😂😂😂... Great video, guys!
I thought he broke something for sure 🫣🫣 but thankfully it was just funny and a not much else. Thanks for the comment friend 💖
In all seriousness, there are endless ways to get yourself in trouble in this region, as some unfortunate people do find out who are not knowledgeable, skilled, and experienced in mountain travel. Tommy's fall was a good lesson that even the most simple and innocent attempts at anything beyond simple walking on a maintained trail can have serious consequences at times, and injuries and fatalities do occur in this and all mountain regions among the most novice and the most expert outdoor recreationists who decide to push their limits, be it doing a simple thing like Tommy did or going further afield onto more dangerous terrain of all hazard levels.
I’m totally with you on the fear on driving mountain roads…I feel my heart is going to explode if there is a cliff over 3 feet deep on any side…and if someone else drives instead of me I feel I’m dying inside or about to die any minute….it’s horrible!
beautiful content !
Glad you think so! Thanks for saying so 🤗
Coming from a country where our fiercest preditor is probably a fox, badger or maybe a rabid bunny I'd be scared out of my pants walking them trails as beautiful as they are. Just how often do people encounter bears etc around that area and do they ever venture into the cities etc?
❤
Just watched your other Banff video - my spouse and I are thinking about taking this trip in 2024 to celebrate a couple milestones - we want to go somewhere exotic! We’ve never traveled in Canada, would love to know more about the planning you put into this trip.
That’s awesome you guys should do it! You won’t regret this trip 😍 You can email us any questions and we will try and get back to you!
Nice vlog 👍🐾
I drove the Icefields Parkway with my dad at the end of July, unfortunately didn’t see a single animal the entire way. Except for a singular Big Horned Sheep as we entered from Kootenay, and a Pine Martin at a lake in Banff. I hope to come back here in the future during the late summer or fall to climb a few big peaks and go backpacking. Great video
You guys should go again during the middle of September! You will see so many animals and the larch trees will be poppin! Thanks for sharing!
@@SammyandTommy wishing I could just head up there right now, but next time I’m heading away from the coast I’ll be taking the Duffy Lake Road to Smithers. Then, well I’m moving to Australia so definitely gonna have to wait a while to go back. It’ll be so worth it tho
Travelling through in May (I hope). Thanks for the video.
Our pleasure! Hope you make it in May! It’s a very special place 😍 Thanks for sharing
@@SammyandTommy We did it, Jasper to Banff May 23. Loved watching this again to see what us old folks couldn't manage.
Great video! Able to share what gears were used to film the video? Am going to visit Banff end of Apr 2023.
You’re gonna love it! Here is our gear list:

Hi Sammy and Tommy, absolutely fantastic and beautiful video!! Me and a couple of friends just returned from visiting Canada and we are totally in love with the place too. We too wanted to take a picture of us on the road with the mountain as the background (referring to your intro at the start of the video's) but it seems to involve walking on the roads which we definitely didn't dare to do so. So, just curious how did y'all get that video shot? Or there may be a hidden path that we didn't know!
Hello 👋 We thought the same as you so we got off the main road to get some photos. Those were taken on a side road called David Thomason highway 👍another beautiful drive with great animal sightings! Thanks for watching!
if still in the area, visit TROLL FALLS, 3 different waterfalls and one you can go behind - my wife enjoyed it
That sounds amazing! Thanks for the awesome tip 🙏
The "air" in Alberta is extremely "dry" which can contribute to nose bleeds. A way to help alleviate is to "hydrate" your nostrils with a nasal gel lubricant.
Thanks for your comment. Surrounded by waterfalls & rivers, i never thought this area would be dry to breath.
Good to know! Thanks for the info... Tommy just had to throw that in the video 🥲 haha
Nice wonderful video ❤
Thanks so much!
Great video! When did you guys do this trip? My partner and I are planning on doing the same trip end of May 2023 and wanted to see if it was safe to drive. Thanks so much
Thank you! We did this trip in early September, which was perfect for seeing the Elk
Very nice video on the Columbia Ice Fields! You included stops I had not seen. Did I hear you say this was filmed in September? About what dates were you filming? We have been the first week in September and did not encounter snowy, colder weather. Just checking for planning another trip. Thanks!
That is correct. We were there the first or second week of September. Have an amazing time! We are jealous.
Great video.
Thank you!
Loved the video. We just took a drive down the Icefields Parkway about a week ago and stopped like 12 times! There's so many incredible places along the way! gREAT CONTENT 😊
Thanks guys! Yes, you have to make all the stops and do as many hikes as you can! Thanks for watching! 🤗
Great Video. Wow beautiful scenes. What do you use to record or do your videos?
If you want to see bears, come to Romania and take the road Transfăgărășan, you will be mesmerized by how many bears you'll encounter
Hi guys, we are heading to Banff but won’t have time to drive all the way to Jasper and back to Banff but would love to see some of the ice highway on a day trip and get it a small hike. Can you recommend where to drive too and return to Banff in a day please ?
great video. I'm planning to go there in September, I was afraid it would be too cold but it looks nice and pleasant.
Did you do all these activities by the road in just one day or was it two?
greetings from Brazil
September is the perfect time to go especially for wildlife! You’re gonna have an amazing time! It was over two days :)
awesome video, what's the song at 7:40?
Thanks for the amazing video. Did you guys go in August?
It was in September actually.
Great video!!! Man are you ok!? Sorry i laughed hard!!!! :)
Haha thanks! Yes totally fine we couldn't stop laughing either no need to apologize 😂
What time of year was this?
They look like crows to me (ie. fanned tails and smooth neck feathers.) Ravens have a wedge-shaped tail and fluffier hackles. Ravens are also much bigger than crows with bigger beaks.
what time of year were you there?
