    This video is sweet, thinking about doing the swap in my 09 A3. 2.5's are pretty cheap in my area, for a full motor 600 bucks from the scrapper. I'll definitely be referencing your videos!

    Man I come back and watch these videos like e every day. I look up to you, I give you mad support. I've had a red mk6 golf 2.5 for almost a year. It's my first real car. I love it so much. I just put an eurojet exhaust on it. Saved up so long for it. I gave it some thought. A lot of thought, I think I want to go turbo. It'll be a while but I can't find a lot of videos on it. You think you can make a video on you acceleraing with the speedo showing. And maybe a outside shot? Thanks man keep up the good work.

      I got my 2.5 mk6 about a year ago too. Got the UM tune and I'm considering doing more to it too

    Cant believe I found this after soo long. U have great knowledge on the car. A+ on talking about the intake manifold and diff. Those r the 2 weakest parts of our cars. I've wanted to turbo my 07 rabbit since I bought it in 07. I've snapped 5 stock axles btw. Currently I'm running a C2 SRI, APR Carbonio intake, Clutchmasters stage 2 clutch and singlemass flywheel, USP downpipe, AWE cat-back and Unitronic stage 2 tune (got it b4 the SRI(Working on getting IE SRI tune). Any tips on what I should do for some more power while staying N/A?

    Hey man, looking at a bone stock MKV Rabbit 5spd for an Autocross Project. Most likely keeping it N/A and was interested in your Jetta project, what would you reckon I could make with a full exhaust, injectors, the upgraded intake manifold mentioned in Part 1, and a decent tune from UM? Not looking for anything crazy, just daily with some track capabilities. Thanks for the Drivetrain Tips aswell, will check the Stock Diff when I look at the car see if it has any signs of the rivet problem. 5spd Upgrades were the Stage 2 Clutch and Flywheel, a Reinforced Clutch Fork, LSD and Axles right? Anything I missed to make the 5spd bulletproof for around 300? Nice build man, will definitely subscribe!

      Also was there any Aftermarket Solutions for the Clutch Release Bearing? If there was I missed them. Thanks again.

      As much money as it takes to inforce the 5 speed to NOT blow up, it's actually cheaper and better to just swap in a 6 speed from a MKV GTI. Better gear ratios, MUCH stronger, everything.
      The 5 speed WILL fail under stock power levels if driven hard and an upgraded clutch and LSD are absolutely needed. LSD is $1,200 alone and clutch is around $900.
      Now. For an autocross car I do recommend an upgraded clutch for the 6 speed too as the stock dual mass flywheel is HEAVY as fuck.
      In addition to that, I 110% recommend upgrading the engine, trans mount, dogbone mount & subframe bushings.
      You want the driveline to be as firm and responsive as possible. BFI is great for engine/trans mounts. And I recommend 034 motorsports for the dogbone and subframe bushings or inserts.
      You're going to want lightweight wheels, good tires and the right suspension. That's a whole 'nother topic
      Last for the engine. Injectors aren't needed until you boost it. If you want stronger torque and aren't worried about revving the engine out to 7,200 rpm and pulling the whole way there, then just get a good stage 1 tune from UM with a good intake and exhaust work. Stage 1 with stock intake manifold really limits you to about 6,500 rpms. If you plan to be higher in RPMs the whole time, get an IE intake manifold with UM SRI tune, TTRS crank pulley with BoostBrothersGarage tensioner pulley as it's designed to keep the lower belt from flying off at high RPMs. Now....
      The best exhaust set up, whether you're bone stock, stage 1 tuned or stage 2....is hands down the tubular equal length header/downpipe from Ice Engins Works. Custom made to order. The fabricator is Robert Baromeo. I had one and can tell you, the cat sounds like a legit fucking track car. It's expensive as hell though. But it's the only way you'll see 200 horsepower or more at the wheels. Any other aftermarket header looses torque and sounds raspy. The header comes with a downpipe with a highflow cat. And costs like $1,400.

    Hey Brotha, do you know what the max torque rating for the O9G 6speed Auto? I have IE's TCU tune at 6800 or 7200 RPM and building a low 8-9 psi turbo kit using your VERY INFORMATIVE video, just want to figure out the threshold of torque for the tranny. This video saves me hours of research, thanks btw.

    What do you need to have forged in the engine?? Or nothing is really required? Thank you in advance

    • @SubsurfacePodcast
      @SubsurfacePodcast  Рік тому +1

      Nothing is needed unless you want to safely make over 400hp at the wheels with United Motorsports software. Standalone ECU can get you to 400-430 whp more safely and still not require forged internals.

    Is it possible to do an auto to manual swap on the rabbit 2.5 ? I’m getting one real soon for 2k and it’s auto . I already have a b8 a4 Quattro (my daily and definitely not a race car) . And really want to build an na rabbit. What do you think ? P.s I’m from south Florida too (Miami). Also my brother is in central florida and builds mustangs…I must be able to kick that unicorn in the ass

    IE manifold and CAI for my 5speed 2013 golf. IE stage 2 tune. Still deciding on clutch. Do you really think I’d need an LSD with this set up?

    • @SubsurfacePodcast
      @SubsurfacePodcast  3 роки тому

      No. Unless you're boosted and spinning hard through 2nd and 3rd gear, an LSD is mainly preference.
      Of course of you drive autocross or circuit then LSD is always good. But for traction in a straight line, it's not needed N/A. I did it in my N/A Jetta because I was preparing for boost.

      My main concern is that I’m doing rally style, lots of chicanes, lots of height changes on snakey small mountain roads. I’m looking for a Tiguan suspension swap. Not sure about braking hardware yet although I know this will be important to me. Quick side question, do you have any experience with roll cages and The possibility for better control from their supposed frame rigidity increase?

    • @SubsurfacePodcast
      @SubsurfacePodcast  3 роки тому

      @@AbsoluteRecoil generally speaking any legit rollcage will lessen bodyroll. I've never had one in my car but there are a few track only MKV Rabbits with them. Lucas Brown tracks his MK6 2.5 with a cage. And I think Matt McGee has a cage too. Matt does rally so you should definitely get with him. He is Ridonkulous Rally Sport.

    Hey Matt do you know if the shafts the gears ride on are upgradeable for the 5spd?

    • @SubsurfacePodcast
      @SubsurfacePodcast  4 роки тому

      You can buy a forged gearset with custom ratios but honestly unless you're building an 800+hp drag car it's much more cost effective to swap to a MKV GTI 6 speed. They handle around 450 lbs of torque at the wheels as where the 5 speed fails around 350.

    • @SubsurfacePodcast
      @SubsurfacePodcast  4 роки тому

      Well the 5 speed gears anyway. The 5 speed in general can and will fail even on stock engine power. Usually the differential.
