Hah, I thought so. You saved me from googling. Classic movie, 1972 Mean Streets where I first heard the word "Mook" and have been using it since. Keitel was the star, Deniro was just starting. The following year Deniro was in Taxi Driver and Harvey Keitel was basically a nobody in that movie.
Like the part with the guy playing pool and acting like that nothing is wrong. Also, Martin Scorsese has a unique genius when comes using music in his films to fit scenes and mood, and it dose not come of as a gimmick unlike a lot of filmmakers.
Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel's character's watching The Searchers in the movie theater in Mean Streets is a nice tip of the hat from Martin Scorsese to John Ford(one of his biggest directorial influences). Both of them are now legendary filmmakers.

I have witnessed a lot of real life bar fights and this one was actually the most realistic in a movie...right up until the cops showed up out of nowhere. The police NEVER show up until after the fight is long over.
@@CutsCity413 Obviously you have never witnessed any real fights because they all look just as chaotic and unskilled as these guys did. For Raging Bull he did a lot of boxing training with La Motta and reached a fairly good standard. You sound bitter, did he turn down a script you sent him?
This must have been around the time that Richie took the jacket off the toughest guy in Essex County.

Can't miss those Manson lamps
And Winston Wolf, Jimmy Conway.
Love this film. Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, and the rest of the cast are great
Even back then Richie was never able to sell it. But he's got a lot of moxie for his size.
I love how Jimmy immediately jumps on him after he punched his friend 😂 Also DeNiro did such a good job at making this fight scene look real

Harvey Keitels acting is so good when he gets hit on the table at the beginning of the fight

Even Martie's movie cameos were scary in Mean Streets and Taxi Driver; must've been due to "practicing" all those lines.

A brawl with no resulting blood, bruises, scratches, or ripped clothing…

Scorcese got a lot better at violen ce in his films.
To be fair not every fight ends up in shredded clothes and gallons of blood pouring out.
No budget.

You can’t call me a mook. “I can’t?” 💥
"A mook, what's a mook"
Mooky how?
And over 50 years later nobody knows what a mook is.
The word "mook" is slang for a person who is foolish, insignificant, or contemptible
Not a made guy
Watching this "fight" is like watching a WWF wrestling show. Watching Hulk Hogan ripping his shirt made of toilet paper. 😂
The guy calls him a mook, asks him what's a mook, then they attack him before they find out what a mook is. Maybe mook is good, he doesn't know...
