Thanks Simon, we love watching other people's journeys and get inspired! We totally lucked out with the best 3 days in November I think. Thanks for the kind words 😊
Well, that was just stunning. I've watched a number of UA-camrs bikepack this route and it always draws me in. The first half as far as the hostel gives my bikepacking soul a deep recharge but then the technical descent and hike-a-bike sections have me gripping my imaginary handlebars. A very beautiful and awe-inspiring video from a truly adventurous couple. Thanks for posting.
Appreciate the longer form very much, one to settle in with. And superb images, even if gifted you still made the edit and story. I can certainly confirm that the punch up from Glen Licht with a loaded bike is character building!
Great film and love Glen Affric , your right about the decent from Camban Bothy to Morvich , I walked that on my Scottish National Trail route and it was bad enough without a bike. 🙂
I enjoyed the challenge in a few sections but it became a bit too much and it's a long old route out on a stretcher if it goes wrong 🙈, thanks for the comment!
What an amazing adventure with absolutely stunning scenery. I’m hoping to head up there in the spring time so it’s given me a great insight what to expect. Well done 👍
Another excellent video by our second most favourite bike backing couple!! - In all seriousness what a fantastic trip! The views were sublime and I thoroughly agree with your comments about it being such a good time of the year, the snow capped mountains contrasting against the autumn colours - just beautiful.. I've pondered the route a few times myself but not sure I've the fitness for the road back - maybe I'll spring for a large taxi lol. The tricky downhill section at the end did look a right old challenge but again the views made that worth the while I think. hope you both manage to get out some more this winter, take care - ATB Tom
Lol 😂 thanks for the kind words, it was a cracking trip, we did a late 1pm start on the first day as we went Christmas shopping in Aviemore! But had a good full day till light faded on day two, and a morning to get to the end on day three. The road back was a solid 80k or so, but to be fair it was possibly the nicest road ride we have done in Scotland, the views were great and we got a refuel at Loch Cluanie Hotel. We sneaked out to Aberfeldy for a wee winter wonderland experience in the snow a fortnight ago, that's coming up soon. But yes we are hoping for a good winter Bikepacking season! Enjoy the festivities and maybe see you folks on the trail some day!
Definitely, there's the challenge as a whole, but also so many small things along the way. We like to ride these Hardtails as we can ride some pretty knarly stuff for bikepacking but they're not too bad when we need to hike a bike. Might as well enjoy riding some of those features you've travelled all the way out there for!
Brilliant video! Looked hard work at times.. plus filming of course but some of those sceneries are simply breathtaking indeed. The new trail looks amazing. but the rocky descent looks hard and yeah lucky it wasn't an ascent🙂 I would fancy to stay in that bothy. Never been in Glen Afric but seen some pictures and your video definitely convinced me to write it on my list. Thanks and Happy Christmas to you both. Jonas
Hey Jonas, always humbled to inspire a fellow adventurer! Nice Bothy, with another room as well that we didn't show. There's a lot to enjoy up that way, hope to see your adventures there on your channel aswell. Here's to a helluva good bikepacking year in '24!
Thank you, we are just getting back into it. It has been a while but editing a nice recent trip just now, and there's some great stuff in the backlog too!
Hi Derek, the routes waymarked on OS maps and there is full route info Inc some new bits not yet updated on OS, on the official website here:www.affrickintailway.com/affric-kintail-way-route-overview.html#
Did this as a1 day mtb ride a few years ago from west to east .The first 10 miles took 3.5 hrs 🤣the rest was pretty good after the youth hostel though .
Thank you, great photography, I’ve cycled part of the way as far as the bothy and have walked from Morvich to about your last overnight stop to meet a friend who was doing the coast to coast on horseback. I love Glen Affric in the Autumn, I’ve been there a few times in May, June and July but the best weather I’ve had has always been October. Thanks once again.
Impressive horsemanship to negotiate that descent even walking! Glad you enjoyed the video, we were gifted beautiful weather, it aligned with some time off and we tend to keep an eye and just jump in the van when it is looking promising!
Hey Keith and Lindsay, I do a bit of bikepacking and I came across your video this morning. I had my coffee and watched your clip. It made a wet and cold Saturday morning here in the PNW very pleasant and wish I was out there with you! Cheers! 🍻
Absolutely loved this one guys. Epic journey in what appears to be the correct way to go…typically when I’m there I’ll be going the other way 🫣 great job both.
Going the other way, Once your at the top, it's a little uppy downy, pretty rough till the next Bothy then your into better ground. You'll have to come back and ride it the chilled way with us sometime!
Sorry for the hiatus! We're still going strong and have a nice Italian Alps trip to release soon. My back really doesn't like sitting in an office then at a computer on days off so I had a little break from the edits. But got a better routine and hopefully keep it going!
Hi just discovered your channel and now subscribed. WONDERFUL…ATMOSPHERIC…STUNNING…INSPIRATIONAL….APPRECIATIVE ….and WHYNOT I’ve walked and climbed in these hills many years ago and what you’ve both posted is an everlasting reminder of the days of in my 20s when I didn’t give a chuff about where I went. I’m now in the mood to rediscover the auld grounds. I’ve always cycle camped and looking at my logs that’s about 80k of journeys on my bike cycle camping. You’ve inspired me to match my old stomping grounds with a wonderful way of travel. Thank you. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY HOGMANAY …. Bliadhna mhath ùr Ron
What a wonderful comment, thanks so much, it really makes the whole thing worth while, to share our love of these landscapes and wild places, when we hear it has inspired others to get out there, or re ignite old ways. Enjoy your future travels and the Christmas festivities!
Epic views! I need to get up there! Southern upland and annandale are my local ways. Done bits of both and both challenging but epic in different ways so far
Hi Derek, sorry we don't connect our private Strava to this channel, however in the video description I have included a link to the official route website which has all the route files available for download. This includes the recent updates! We take sometimes have to take various diversions so I can capture the angles for the long distance shots so my route would have you going over every dyke and ditch up the sides of the route 😂
Loved that - what an awe-inspiring adventure, beautifully captured 👍. Was curious how you were going to get back to the start point from Morvich - must’ve been a churn by road? Anyhow, this looks like an epic loop so am away to unfurl some maps! New subscriber.
Cheers Twisty Trails! Yes we hit the road and just put the hammer down, 90ish kilometres day Inc the last bit out of Kintail Valley from GlenLicht. We would probably do it again on a longer tour and head over to Skye, then ferry to Malaig and on.
Thank you for Sharing. Mind blowing scenery, what an adventure. Your cinematography is outstanding. May i ask what make of drone did you use, thank you. Have a wonderful 2024
Thank you for the kind words, it was a pleasure to create! The drone is a DJI mini 3 Pro, and believe it or not my other cameras are my Google Pixel 7 Pro, phone and GoPro11! Light and fast, I keep the phone on the bars and just constantly grab some big open shots as we are going along, and run the GoPro for all the moving stuff, and if I'm hanging it on a tree or setting it on a post. Lots of learning still to do but enjoying the process!
Hi Chris, yes we are big fans of the Paramo kit. Different to a membrane jacket, excellent breathability and very comfortable too. Been using my jacket for nearly ten years now. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Hi guys thinking of doing this , been biking for years but I am just taking up bikepacking so can you recommend this and is the end bit safe enough for a a novice ??
Hi Drew, I can wholeheartedly recommend the majority of the route up to the Youth Hostel, and in the interest of never wanting to limit people's adventures I would say the section between the hostel and the bothy is more challenging, technically, but also has a different more rugged beauty. The last section from the Bothy out to the end is really a hike a bike, it's quite physical, despite being down hill mostly the loaded bikes are still a weight to handle and it would depend on your confidence on rough rocky paths, even on foot, there are a couple of narrow sections with a good drop to the side which we largely walked. The views are exceptional though. One of the main issues is that once you descend all the way down there's not a lot of great options to get back to the start other than a solid 85k road blast that we did. If you were to do an out and back, to the hostel or bothy there are routes on the other side of the lochs that you can change up the route back so that it is a little different. It is stunning in the late autumn if you have a nice weather window, also less busy as it's a popular summer walking route. My advice would probably be to do an out and back, see how you feel. It's such a beautiful place you will want to go back, so you can always push on through on a future trip. If you do decide to go past the bothy definitely add in a significant amount of time as it's very slow going the last few Kms.
Good film. The challenging descent in the latter stages down to the bothy is definitely a hiking path and unless you have a suitable full sus bike with sufficient bike handling skills is certainly a hike-a-bike section imho. Carrying very little would also be very desirable. If riding this in Spring, when do you think it would be passable so you weren't at risk of freezing to death or if later avoiding getting eaten alive by midges?
I'm a big fan of March, the last few years there's been a few weeks of favourable weather before it deteriorates into April showers. Certainly no midgies. You would just have to assess the weather closer to the time and see how it's looking. I've a couple of weeks off in march in anticipation.
Briliant guys you captured the why we go bikepacking! Great filming and fotografy, loved it, thankyou!
Thanks Simon, we love watching other people's journeys and get inspired! We totally lucked out with the best 3 days in November I think.
Thanks for the kind words 😊
Brilliant Video As usual I watched this for the second time and it gets better . Glen Affric is the most Beautiful Glen in Scotland.
It's absolutely stunning, it's a real journey through it, you think you've seen the best of it then walk a few more Kms and get another great view!
What a beautiful video, story and bikepacking adventure! Absolutely fabulous! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Thank you for the kind words 🙏
What a fantastic route. Great video. Those autumn colours were special. Really wets your appetite for giving this one a go. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Charles, it was nice just to pause in amongst it all by the loch. Absolutely stunning!
Well, that was just stunning.

Well what a wonderful comment, yes it's a stunning place. A real 💎
Thanks for taking the time to do this upload, this was really useful and informative.
Thank you 🙌
This looks like a class route. Added to my list! Either to run or if I do get that ebike!
Makings of something there! 😜
Thank you again for another fantastic video 🙂 You really lucked out with the weather.
We really did! It literally started raining the moment we left for home and did not stop for 3 days? The weather was miraculous ☀️
Great to see you on another asventure - and one where you have shown some magnificent parts of Scotland. Many thanks - very interesring and enjoyable

Another great adventure. The more challenging bits I find are the most rewarding parts. The sense of achievement of they give you.

Superb work. Very rewarding time of year potentially if you take the risk. Thanks from Ireland.
Thanks, we'd love to get across and ride there a bit too. Last time I did It was an XC race on Sugar Loaf which was brilliant, 90' old school trails!
