Your feet were not playing the same beat as your hands were. Please could you do a tutorial on the beat that your hands were playing, as I see most punk rock is played like that (your hands).
Hi Tim, you're my favourite drummer of all time (along with Yuri from MxPx!) and I just wanted to thank you for doing these videos, I'm a huge i12 fan. To me, you're a living legend. One thing I can't quite catch from watching your foot here is if you're putting an extra single kick in between the double slides? Like are you doing single, single, double? I'm still a beginner on drums as I've always played bass and guitar, but I'm enjoying learning. So far I've only managed to kinda do it this way: ua-cam.com/video/C6fOgaLnaSo/v-deo.html However, your beat seems catchier and feels like it drives it home a bit more. Hey Jonah - wow! That’s one of the more flattering things I’ve heard in all my years of playing. Thank you 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 As for the doubles, it’s just 2 quick bass drum hits in a row. Before that it’s just kick-snare…so kick-snare, kick-kick-snare…with the “kick-kick” part being the slide technique I mention in the video. Hope that clears things up. I appreciate the support on the videos! I’ve enjoyed making them but wasn’t exactly sure if people were enjoying them, so it’s inspiring to hear some positive feedback! I’m trying to get into a routine of regular videos and have some good ones coming. I’ll check out your channel soon! Thanks again and best wishes!
@TimGrisnikDrums Hi thanks for your reply Tim. Honestly, you don't know the half of you and i12's influence on our local scene here in York, UK. Due to a group of us loving your music years ago, several bands have come through since (from around 2000 to present day), all playing flat-out melodic punk and trying to write in your style. Inspection 12's legacy continues here still! I was in a band called Half The Distance in 2001 (see Bandcamp and check out a track called Homesick - blatant ripoff of "Home" lol), and from that bands Death Defying Life, The Fear and By Default emerged plus others too. You guys inspired us all. Anyway, thanks for clearing up the drum pattern. It turns out I do have it about right but I probably just need to keep working on my kick speed. You're quick Tim! You could join Slick Shoes at that pace!! 😀
