I'm still amazed you haven't done that amazing duet with George Michael of Elton's hit 'Don't let the Sun go down on me' George is on stage performing one of his best ever performances of the song, when Elton just appears from nowhere and turns it into a duet. The ten thousand George fans' reaction will send chills down your spine. For a live performance it's a masterpiece, one of the best I've ever seen!
Jay & Amber - Didn't I have the best songs to grow up with? Between the hard rock of Zeppelin and Sabbath, to the soft sounds of Elton, the 70s were one heck of a time to be alive!
Elton's songs are so great because he wrote the music, while his working partner, Bernie Taupin, wrote the lyrics. 😉 👍A winning combination for decades!
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Philadelphia Freedom", "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding", and "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me"!!!! Don't let the title scare you off on the second one, starts off slow, then its a banger! FYI, Billy Joel and Elton John did 21 concerts together July 8, 1994 to August 21, 1994! The "Face To Face" tour.
I was born in the 1960s and grew up in the 1970s listening to Elton John, so his songs from this period will always hold a special place in my heart. If you want some suggestions for your next EJ reaction try Border Song, Take Me To The Pilot, Levon, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding(The 1st half of the song(s) is all instrumental, but very cool to listen to), Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Philadelphia Freedom, Island Girl, The Bitch is Back.
Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics first and Elton wrote the music later. A heart wretching tale about a relationship that is falling apart. Grabbing at your emotions to take you through the pain that is felt when you know your relationship is over, but then coming to face the end has come. 😭😭 A beautiful song with such emotional instuments, the violins and Elton's voice joining together to break your heart. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️ ❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
For me this story sums up Elton John. Nearly 15 years ago, I was speaking to my then girlfriend about music. She was 27 years old, and I was 10 years older, she liked Slipknot, Incubus, Chili Peppers, etc. mostly those kinds of bands. I typically liked classic such as zep, etc. We were discussing other artists and we were comparing tastes, etc. I asked if she like elton john, her reply was "duh, it's elton john". Side note: Fast forward to 2019, she was my wife, and mother of out 6 year old daughter and soon to be to our 2nd baby girl. We watched rocket mam. Turns out it would basically be the last movie we would sit down and plan to watch together. She passed away in Feb of 2020, a little over 2 months after giving birth to our baby. Elton John just transcends above any "box", he appeals to all walks of life, ages, class, and sexual orientation. He is certainly one of a kind.
Elton is truly one of the best, growing up it seems he always had a new hit constantly on the radio, so many hits. I know you two love his music and you love John Lennon. They were good friends and when John was killed Elton wrote "Empty garden", such a beautiful song I know you two will love, he rarely played it live because it because Johns loss hurt so much to him. Please give it a try
One of my favorite Elton songs is Empty Garden about the loss of John Lennon. It’s not widely played but is Amazing!!! You need a day to just listen to Elton’s songs!!! He has sooo many hits!
The shades are a keeper! Gotta check out Elton John’s “Someone Saved My Life Tonight.” One of his VERY best! The Rob Squad viewing audience knows their music. Jay & Amber, THANK YOU for taking us on this musical journey. So much fun!
@@Ocrilat - Yes, that is the sad state of music today. I'm trying to think of the last time a new song moved me. Probably "Everytime" by Britney Spears over 20 years ago. A surprise since there isn't much else she has done very well. But it's hard to know how much my response is attributed to the music video and how much is due to the music.
@@shyman99 I think today's music is much more interested in singing with a huge range...more or less because of Idol. 👏👏👏👏 Jay that sequined baseball outfit Elton John wore was back in 1975 when he first performed live at Dodger Stadium! We just saw him perform live at Dodger Stadium this past Saturday night and it was phenomenal, fantastic and we all sang along with the songs! Just so you know many fans at the concert purchased and wore that retro baseball costume amongst other costumes that night! It was a wonderful and memorable night too! Yes, Bernie Taupin is such a wonderful song writer. Enjoyed your reaction to this lovely song! ☮💕
One of my requests! This is one of his greatest songs, and that's saying a lot!!! I love the emotion he puts into his vocals. You can see it in the video.

the partnership of elton and bernie taupin is second to none. for sir elton to basically interpret everything bernie puts on paper to musical brilliance is a rare partnership. the height of elton was bernies words...not saying that one outshines the other because thats impossible. this is my favourite elton song by far!!
Saw Elton tour this past summer and it was a bucket list for me. I’m 56 and grow up with him and when I listen to him it gives me chills. I can so relate to his feelings in the words.❤️🕊💯
Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Philadelphia Freedom, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, and The Circle of Life (the last two from the original and best 1994 version of Lion King) are the Elton hits you have yet to do.
One of Eltons finest, often sidelined by other mega hits, but great composition, beautiful piano, and magical voice carry some very special words. Oh to be that 1970s teenager again, going through heartbreak listening to this.
This tune is really interwoven in our relationship, as old time friends of ours fell away. Seemed if someone had just said "Sorry", things might have been different. Beautiful tune.
I once watched a TV programme where Elton was handed some lyrics he'd never seen before and he wrote the music to accompany them live on air in just a few minutes. His talent is astonishing. Fab reaction, thank you Rob Squad 😊

I've seen Elton 4 or 5 times in my life, starting in Dallas, Tx, at Moody Coliseum in 1979. Moody is on the grounds of SMU and holds less than 8,000 people. My High School Graduation was held there. It was Elton's single-man tour in 1979. the two-hour show, just Elton and his Piano for the first hour. In the second hour, he added his percussionist Ray Cooper. I sat in the 11th row for the show. this is one of the most iconic and remarkable songs of mid 70S and also one of the best songs out of the huge massive list it's been almost five decades since it was released and still nowdays here and there still played
Great song one of favorite Elton John songs. You should list to Elton John songs "I Want Love" (With Robert Downey Jr, on the video),"Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" (With George Micheal Rip),," i don't wanna go on with you like that", "Part time love" , "You Got To Love Someone", "I Want To Kiss The Bride"," "Sad Songs"
Believe by Elton is a very powerful song and message. Would LOVE to hear your reaction to this one. This Train Don't Stop is another great one. Would also love to see your reaction to Elton's duet with George Michael - Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me. Best duet EVER. And George's cover of Somebody to Love - at the tribute concert for Freddy Mercury at Wembly Stadium. 72,000 fans singing and clapping in unison. Phenomenal performance.

I'm so glad you're doing my favorite song from Elton John this came out back in 1976 when I was 13 years old it still sounds as good today as it did back then lot of good memories
Elton has-been part of my life from the very beginning. I was in high school at that time. I have seen him 4times, most recently a few weeks ago on his farewell tour. Thanks for your reactions!!
ELTON JOHN'S song I'M STILL STANDING is my favorite song and also an anthem for those who have persevered through things. SAD SONGS and NO SACRIFICE are two more great hits from him.
This song is so sad, but always one of my faves by Elton. Next one you should listen to by Elton is “The Last Song”…. written in memory of Ryan White, who was the young kid who contracted AIDS through blood transfusion in the early days when people were becoming aware of the virus. It’s a sad, but beautiful tribute.🦋✌🏼💛
@ChandraLeigh - You are incorrect. The song and video tells the story of a man dying of AIDS who is rejected by his father because of his homosexuality. The dying son meets his father and confesses his illness to him. That was not Ryan White's story and therefore cannot be a tribute to him. "Gone Too Soon" by Michael Jackson is the song dedicated to Ryan White.
My favorite version of this song is live in Melbourne with the symphony orchestra 🙌 If you haven't heard that version yet, PLEASE go savor it. It's incredible!
That whole show is incredible. I listen to that a lot. There's some great songs on there that you wouldn't expect him to do live, but they where perfect songs to do with the orchestra. Sixty Years On, Have Mercy On the Criminal, The King Must Die, The Greatest Discovery, Madman Across The Water, to name a few, all fantastic.
One of my favorite Elton songs, so beautiful. I highly recommend "Empty Garden" a song he wrote about his good friend John Lennon's murder also a sad beautiful song.
The most emotional Elton John for me has become, "don't let the sun go down on me". I happened to be listening to it after a health scare when I was feeling that real sense of mortality.
Oh my this is one of my fav Elton songs. Ever since middle school I've played this and I am now 61. Thanks so much for doing this one!!! You need to do this Elton song "Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding" it is amazing.

"Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding"--his 11-minute masterpiece that changes direction over and over. A must-listen.
Been suggesting it for over a year lol You're quite correct it's absolutely his finest work, his masterpiece.
The tambourine player tries to steal the show in the classic live version.
Definitely his best. Need to listen to it.

My thoughts exactly. Masterpiece isn't overstating it at all, one of my all-time favorites.
This is one of Elton’s most moving songs. PLEASE do “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” if you haven’t already. That sounds lazy of me; I’ll do a search 😂
Yes, Yes, the ultimate masterpiece of all the great songs of Elton!
They haven't done it yet. I've been requesting it as well.

Elton's songs are so great because he wrote the music, while his working partner, Bernie Taupin, wrote the lyrics. 😉 👍A winning combination for decades!
Elton interpreted them too.
Elton's homage to John Lennon, Empty Garden, is another beautiful, sad song. One of his most emotive.
One of the saddest songs ever written sung so emotionally. Such brilliant music Elton wrote to Bernie's lyrics.

That is one of my favorite along with: I'm Still Standing, Can You Feel The Love Tonight and The One.
Love Elton's beautiful "The Last Song"
The most emotional Elton John for me has become, "don't let the sun go down on me". I happened to be listening to it after a health scare when I was feeling that real sense of mortality.
I love the duet he did with Ray Charles of this song!
Oh my this is one of my fav Elton songs. Ever since middle school I've played this and I am now 61. Thanks so much for doing this one!!! You need to do this Elton song "Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding" it is amazing.
Oh my gosh. Love Sir Elton.
He is just perfection
You must cover Elton's “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” !!!! YOU MUST. A MASTERPIECE!
