Yet another gay has fallen in love with you Carla.....me!!! I'm a close-to-60 year old gay guy that has always (ALWAYS) had a flair for fashion, color, creativity. Although I am retired now and living on a supplemented income, I vicariously get my fashion fix thru fabulous folks like you! Although my wardrobe these days consists of white tee, shorts and a slip in shoe, it's NEAT, the shoes are a blue quilted Merrell slip on, the ball cap is ALWAYS blue (matches the eyes!!!) And the tees and shorts are always crisp and tidy. And if I ever find a "Persian Rug" coat like the one in a recent video of yours, I will buy a mannequin and display that coat like ART!!! ❤❤💛💚💙💜

Love you, Carla! I'm an architect/ interior designer and you just have such a great sense of style. As for the rug! I have a few moroccan rugs- do not do it yourself! The dyes used can bleed into each other. The process is usually old school of just banging them out (can also be done by a professional). Take it to a professional that specifically does oriental rugs if you actually need it to be washed!

Re: rug washing. Search for rug laundry in your area. If you don't have one, you could ship it off to one that does that. There is one in Minneapolis that is one of the last remaining rug repair/laundries in the country. Otherwise the way they do it is they fill a broad shallow pool with lots of changes of water to dislodge and float away the dirt. Originally this was done in a stream so the stream did all the work of carrying away the dirt...

You may want to have your rug dry cleaned, to be safe. As you know, the fabric is probably natural dyes, which may or may not influence washing versus a dry cleaning process.

Your home is lovely. Dalworth Carpet cleaners do a lovely job and they are in Dallas. I trusted them with my precious rugs. I think the safest especially if you are not sure of the fiber content. They pick up the rug.

Ask your carpet cleaner to come and evaluate the carpet in your home. Research ones that specialize in vegetable dyed carpets and antique carpet restoration.
