This is a phenomenal discussion. Shout out to both of these legends for sharing the soundtrack, soul and talent of our times. From the music of my grandparents and parents to the music of my “hay day “, to the music of our children and grandchildren’s time until today… this brought back joyous memories!!! Thank you 😊 ❤🎶💥🎵🎹🎼🎉
George Clinton is a LEGEND! Music and Life would not be the same without him and Parliament. Thank you George Clinton for Inspiring Millions of artist and musicians. The FUNK changed my Life. Maggot Brain is one of my All Time Favorite songs and I know the Back story. Thank you Nelson George for a Great Interview.🤘
I took my then nine-year-old with me to see George Clinton in concert, and he leaned over after the second song to tell me "That man kinda reminds me of Daddy Pops." Since my father had passed away a month earlier, I still hold the moment close to my heart. 💞
Funk was my first love and there'll never be a better decade of music than the 70's. At 12 years old, I purchased my first album with my own money. It was Funkadelic - Uncle Jam Wants You. George and his many band members were legendary. They influenced all genres.
So glad, this music was part of my childhood, in the 70s. George and Bootsy, were unstoppable. They took the foundation James Brown, laid, to the stratosphere.
Love listening to George. I once heard one of his former musicians say they were convinced he would never die. Also glad I'm not the only musician who sometimes forgets to pull his zipper up 😊
When one talks about The Brill Building, they're talking about Dionne Warick, Carole King, Burt Bacharach, and as George says, Richard Berry, (he wrote, Louie Louie) so early to mid-'60's.
A final thought, I just remembered. Sly Stone was also a radio DJ, in the tradition of Frankie Crocker, in New York, in Oakland, CA, as well as record producer for Bobby Freeman's "C'mon And Swim...circa 1964.
You gotta read between the lines with this messenger...I got all their original vinyl's and listened to several of his and other members interviews...he not just gon come out and say PFUNK is Gospel Music...he wants to make you think, gave/gives plenty of clues, but never gives it away when asked😅
George says, You didn't need a metronome with Phelps ( Catfish) Collins, and that Sly is a Music Director, conductor, and he would read & write charts for Steve Lawrence & Edye Gorme, and take bits n' pieces, then create songs.
That's BS lying...at the 54 minute mark Nelson asked George about the secret to their musical longevity not Bernie, but his answer was Bernie voluntarily and very respectfully...gave me information about him I didn't even know such as what he was already doing in the early 60's in terms of early synthesizer tech
When the puns Come Undone you have to run with it grow up outside of DC go go go you're the king you are the one set a bar I like the idea of Peter Frampton that is innovative you have the essence of Funk fun fun fun funk can't say enough music Washington DC would not be the same without you Dave Chappelle in the man named mayor for life Marion Barry
Recently saw him in concert and it was the worst show I've ever seen. It might as well be a tribute band, because George doesn't perform, he just sits in a chair why a younger generation performs his music. Complete scam and I wouldn't recommend seeing him no matter how big of a fan you are.
Dude, he’s literally a senior citizen u want him to be jumping around doing backflips? He’s earned the right to be able to sit & relax at his shows. Sound like u don’t appreciate legends
Man I saw a show about a year ago. While the work in the audio booth left something to be desired (and I thought they could've skipped some of the Hip Hop covers), George hopping up and down in an office chair, wearing his garb and chiming in on the mic was one of the funkiest things ever to me.

Yea George told Eddie Hazel to play like he just found out his mother died.

Thanx for sharing. George is definitely my "dude". And that "dude". Andre' Borges. Trenton, New Jersey.

The funk is my religion, Mike Jackson once told me. George is the Funk God🫡💩💩💩💩💯
Much respect to the City of Plainfield, NJ, the creation of funk music.

@10:56 "Shit change soon as you think you got it down."
He remembers all the details.
ALL of them! I talked to him a couple of times and he remembered older relatives of mine that he went to school with!
Salute ... the funkiest ride you'll ever experience. Always purchase a ticket.
Every day that George Clinton is alive is a good one. I already told my job, when he passes, I'm not coming in for a week. Fire me.
PFunk was/is on a whole nother level, some still can't wrap their mind around their funk philosophy.
A final thought, I just remembered. Sly Stone was also a radio DJ, in the tradition of Frankie Crocker, in New York, in Oakland, CA, as well as record producer for Bobby Freeman's "C'mon And Swim...circa 1964.

29:22 WHAT BOOK IS HE TALKING ABOUT??? The closest I can come to it is a movie from 1973 titled "The Clones."

This is a recent set of stylings for Uncle George. Gone is the multi-colored hair, add suits and Stetson hats etc.
Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Everyone, My second Dad is an ICON
THANK YOU NELSON
Forgot about George a bit until this.. this generation respect longevity..& freedom..
When George is having his necktie adjusted, he reminds me of Black Thought, or vice versa...
🔥
But he stopped @ philipe wynne . I wish more questions about Mr Wynne
Wow - he looks like he could be Bobby Brown's dad or how Bobby Brown will look even more years later! lol
